1) The incident occurred in 3:20 and the neighbors started to come out at 4:25. It was about an hour late.

2) First, the neighbors did not know that the victim was “actually” under attack. Second, the people did not wanted to get involved in this “action”. Third, people were afraid that they will also become the victim

1) The article’s intended effect that the author tried to give to the readers was not to make sure of the fact that the incident occurred frequently, not once a year. Also, the author tries to blame the neighbors who did not help Genovese, even though they saw the crime. I think that the impact will amplify if published now days. The crime will actually be broadcasted with high, fast moving media and the people who lived in that neighborhood will be censured strongly.

2) The purpose was to depict the neighbor hood as a quite “normal” place, where such crime would not happen. Gansberg tried to make the residents horrible people, although they are perfectly normal people.

1) I believe that Gansberg tried to instigate the public by the media to make people aware of the danger of ignoring a crime scene. Also, I think he wanted to blame to residents who witnessed but ignored by portraying with exact precision.

2) I believe that if the paragraphs were connected together, it would help the author to explain the incident with better precision and effect. By closely explaining the story with one big paragraph, the reader can be captivated and concentrate on the story, giving them a big strong impact.

5) As Gansberg depicts the residents as inane or egocentric, he concludes the story by telling the people came out after three stabbing, almost an hour late after all the authorities came by.
