Hype According to the article “Hype”by Kalle Lasn ,advertisement are toxic to our way of thinking and decision making. The author going to says every day an estimated 12 billion display ads,3 million radio commercials and 200,00 TV commercials air each day and this is in North America alone .The author says there is now where to run. NO one can be exempted and nobody feels it is unnecessary in the our lives .This tell us that no matter where you are ,there is going to be some form of advertisement trying to influence you. Advertisement can affect our self image like mind bombs. Advertising like drug is dangerous to the people and control our thinking. For example, when I looked around, and all the items and equipment in my home, I can soon count up to more than 30 logo such as SONY, apple and so on many, many badges. Each a product with a logo, and I guess, at least more than 100 kinds of signs in their own homes. In the street, in the mall, and at the bus stop, we can see countless ads, advertising in virtually influence our lives. When my mom was watching TV, about 10 minutes, and then there are some advertisements, at this time my mom looked at about five to ten different advertising but she didn't mean to these. Sometimes my mother saw some advertising to introduce some articles for daily use, she will think advertisements introduce something must be a good thing, she will can't help wanted to buy these things, but the result is my mom bought these things are some bad things. When my mother know advertising introduction is bad, but she often could not help myself. Every time her shopping, she will feels very regret but she could not control her thinking . Advertisement are everywhere in our life, just like drug affects our thinking and our life, i really hope in life less advertising, so that we can have a healthy body and mind.

Spiritual Belifs

...SPIRITUAL LIFE AND BELIEFS I do not really have a defining moment in my life where everything changed and gave up drugs and drinking and turned towards God. However, I do have a moment where I turned to him but it isn’t big and grand. Sometimes I wish this was different, sometimes I wish I had some big grand story but then again. I have been immersed in God’s life for all my entire life and I can’t complain about that. I was born in a very spiritual family with parents who had very clear and strict rules when it came to church. After I was born, as soon as I was able to recognize my surroundings I was in church. I remember a few instances when I received some spanking for trying to lie my way out of going for Sunday school. However later on I became quite an active member of every club in Sunday school, be it drama, music and even became a Boys & Girls Brigade leader. However as I grew older and past the Sunday school age, I started losing my way as I tried to figure out where I fitted best. I started moving from church to church following my friends as I tried to fit in. At this point is where I came to appreciate the importance of family worship. A person who has a meaningful plan for his children has to invite God in to his home in order to lay a firm foundation for his family. It’s at home where children should gain the true education since it’s the very first school all children must begin from. Despite thinking I’m all grown...

Hydia Hype

...1/25/2013 The Hyundai Hybrid Hype The advertisers for the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid have tucked the slogan and theme for their ad on the line following the company name, and the make and model of the automobile, they are showcasing. In very small fine print, almost subliminally, it whispers to the reader from the corner of the page, “New thinking for new possibilities.” The ad graphically depicts a pastoral landscape of beautiful trees softly backlit by the golden glow of sunshine. In the middle of the page, an image of a man dressed in a suit and tie with a jet pack on his back flies through the sky on his way to work or an important meeting. An androgynous figure of what could be his spouse waves good bye to him from the balcony of a very large, architecturally modern, 3 story glass and steal beamed home. In the foreground of the ad is the star of the show; an icy blue Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The Sonata Hybrid sits on a drive way bed of tiny peat gravel with a border of stone. Coupled with the statement, “New thinking for new possibilities,” and the image that accompanies it, there leaves little room for doubt that the ad for the Sonata Hybrid by Hyundai was designed specifically to appeal to the reader’s pathos and ethos, while the use of logos in this ad is questionable. Hyundai is relying on our pathos, or sympathies, for the well-being of the planet in this Earth conscious, eco-friendly, age of the 21st century. The overall intent of this pictorial image is to...

...ANSWER SHEET Course Code: | | Course Title: | | Student ID: | | Name: | | Location: | | Task 1: As a consultant, decide to use a a systematic approach to help Spinneys – the famous retail chain to expand their customer outreach in Dubai in line with the 3 directions given by Spinneys. 50 marks. Spinneys is a super-market chain in the Middle East which began as railway provision merchants in 1924, and expanded to a grocery firm importing British Empire goods to the Mandate Palestine. Spinneys’ Dubai chapter started in1961, with the first super-market opening in Al-Nasr Square in 1962. Today it operates multiple supermarkets in the Middle East. 1 The task entails proposing Spinneys to launch a non-typical online delivery model to expand customers outreach in Dubai by utilizing the time people spend in metro stations, bus stops and similar places to order products from the store via QR-Code technology or any other suitable technology in those lines. The first constraint laid out by Spinneys is to utilize the time people spend while waiting at metro stations, bus-stops and other waiting times to order online which they could implement was through online shopping facility. The second constraint was to use QR codes for this initiative and the third constraint was that they did not want to invest in own data centers for any computing requirements. My proposal in line with this constraint would be to provide 1. e-koisk with touch screen at metro stations...

Enterprise Architecture

...I believe the one technology that could have the greatest impact on enterprise architecture in U.S. corporations by 2023 is cloud computing. As indicated on the hype cycle for emerging technologies in 2013, it currently is in the trough of disillusionment; however, I believe that cloud computing will bring about the most change to enterprise architecture by 2023. Cloud computing will have the ability to bring enterprise architecture a step forward and redefine the way businesses will support their architecture. As cloud computing evolves, as will enterprise architecture in the way that advanced concepts and practices will eventually be deemed as government requirements. By 2023, I anticipate that most, if not all, companies will be using a cloud platform where it will be used on multiple devices – this brings attention to EA as it will make it more challenging to standardized personal devices. BYOD will become a more relevant option with increased capabilities, like scalability and using software as a service through the cloud, impacting the way EA is integrated in an organization. The shift in enterprise architecture will also stem from the control needed from cloud computing. Currently, when companies move to cloud computing, they are essentially handing control over the design parameters of the enterprise. As a result, the role of the enterprise architect will become obsolete as the responsibilities were to build and maintain a stable model for the business. The...

Global Warming Is a Hype

...Climate Change is a Natural Cycle: Global Warming is a Hype Terra Nova is a new American TV series on the Fox network, which airs on Mondays and has caught the attention of a wide audience for its science fiction suspense. The show is intriguing because it relates to a huge debate going on right now amongst scientist, politicians and environmentalist; Global Warming. Is it real and if so, are humans the cause. In Terra Nova it is year 2149 and Earth is being destroyed to extinction due to air quality and overpopulation therefore, it has become impossible for humanity to survive and almost no vegetation exists. This leads humans to scramble and figure out a way to survive by trying to go back in time and not make the same mistakes. Although, Terra Nova is just a show many believe the concept is true even though there is no conclusive proof that humans are the cause of global warming. Scientist on both sides of the debate, agree that global warming exist but the argument is whether or not humans are the cause by the burning of fossil fuels and if it will destroy Earth. There are many factors that contribute to the warming of Earth, but man-made global warming is just a theory that has been hyped up because scientist cannot disprove that climate change is a natural cycle that has been happening for thousands of years. It is clear that the man-made global warming campaign has exploded and many people are benefitting from it regardless of how little scientific data there is to...

Virtualization and Cloud Computing

...hossain Flash Research Assignment MIS 2501-002 Date: 02/25/2013 Virtualization and Cloud Computing As CTA of our growing manufacturing company, I believe there are considerable opportunities for savings by utilizing virtualization to consolidate server workloads. If we utilize virtualization, we could save up to 11,500,000 dollars in server costs after three years. The costs of our current servers are too high but, using virtualization, our company would benefit by reducing costs and the number of servers. Virtualization is the abstraction of IT resources, such as servers, that masks the physical nature and boundaries of those resources from resource user. Abstraction enables better flexibility, which enables better efficiency. An example of this would be through consolidation. If our company were to consolidate server workloads, instead of having 1000 servers in our datacenter, we would have 10 physical servers in one virtual machine server. This would come to a total of 100 virtual machine servers, instead of the 1000 that we currently run on. Even though the costs of these higher end servers are greater, we would still greatly benefit. To a provider, virtualization creates the flexibility to deliver resources to meet service needs in very flexible, elastic, rapidly changing manner. Virtualization makes it easier for IT to deliver IT capabilities faster, to have a lower barrier to access IT capabilities, and to deliver exactly the right amount of resources needed. Virtual...

How Marketing Hype Hurt Boeing and Apple

...„How Marketing Hype Hurt Boeing and Apple“ We all know, Marketing is the key to success, doesn’t matter if we are talking about automobile manufacturers or the bank sector. They all need a strong marketing strategy or marketing plan to reach the main goal in businesses: “make your customer satisfied”. Customers are the most important and I guess the biggest part of stakeholders, but there are also shareholders also called as investors, which are interested in marketing activities as well. However, the article “How Marketing Hype Hurt Boeing and Apple” published in the Harvard Business Review on November 2nd 2007 and written by John Quelch, talks about two companies, Boeing, one of the two market leaders in the airplane branch and Apple, which was temporary the most valuable brand in the World (July 2011) and perhaps the most innovative company the last couple of years, their marketing activities in 2007 as well as the associated effect to shareholders. A shareholder or stockholder is an individual or institution that owns one or more shares of stock in a public or private corporation and is interested in the business performance of that company. Respectively, those kind of stakeholders are also directly influenced in their actions by marketing decisions, the current market situation etc. Boeings marketing managers for instance did a great job, when they showcased a prototype of their new aircraft model 787, also known as “Dreamliner”, to...

Brain Training: Should You Believe the Hype?

...“BrainTraining: Should you believe the hype?” Etchells (2016) in his article “Brain Training: should you believe the hype” talks about whether a brain training app actually works the way they sau it should. Initially he talks about neuro-plasticity is and how the idea behind game training is surrounded around the basis of neuro-plasticity. He later talks about the idea of brain training and how it has become a large business over a very short period of time. He then goes on asking whether these apps or methods actually work and improve the users skills or not, he answers with his own point of view saying that according to him these apps do not work the way they have been described to work by the developers. He further goes on to support his views by sharing some statistics from surveys conducted in different universities. However he mentions that certain apps and techniques have shown results in the age group 60+. He concludes his article by mentioning that general video games that require reflex and decision making skills seemed to have a far better effect than brain training apps, so he advises us not to waste our time and money on these apps as they are not a quick fix to making us smarter. In this essay I am going to analyze Etchells (2016) article about brain training and give my personal opinion and discuss about the points I agree and disagree with. Reading the article it is clear that Etchells(2016) target audience are students of all ages who believe that instead of...

Philip K. Dick's The Minority Reports

...works on this very premise. All the data in the world is of little use if are unable to devise a way to extract meaningful information from it, which can aid us making effective and efficient decisions. Machine Learning is what facilitates this, and it is for this very reason that Gartner, a leading market and technology research firm, has replaced Big Data with Machine Learning in its 2015 Hype Cycle Report of Emerging Technologies. Gartner's Hype Cycle, introduced in 1995, characterizes the typical progression of innovation, from overenthusiasm through a period of disillusionment to an eventual understanding of the innovation's relevance and its role in a market or domain. The Hype Cycle is a graphical depiction of a common pattern that arises with each new technology or innovation. Hype Cycles help technology planners to decide when to invest in a technology. They are important for organizations deciding which new technologies to adopt and when, and what actions should be taken by strategic and technology planners based on their knowledge of the Hype Cycle. If one observes the 2014 and 2015 Hype Cycles closely, it will not escape notice that not only has Machine Learning replaced Big Data, it has also been included in the ‘Peak of Inflated Expectations’ region, which signifies that the expectations of Machine Learning will rise above the current reality of its capabilities. In the light of such revelations, it is perhaps wise to look at the concepts of Big Data and Machine Learning...

Gangs and Medida

...that committed that crime. This is because “it generated interest” in the story and due to journalistic liabilities, because “any group of people who are involved with crime can technically be termed a ‘gang’ even if they have no street affiliation” (Jankowski, 1992 pg. 286). Today, many media will admit, that in the 1980s there was a lot of hype about gangs and other social issues like the crack epidemic. Hollywood and the entrainment industry has also found a great success hyping up street gran activity in producing movies and television shows. Going back to 1961 with West Site Story, to Boyz ‘N the Hood (1991), and recently Dexeptz (2012). Each of these movies grossed millions of dollars. In the past few years you seen a number of street gangs shows on television, like the History Channels, Gangland (2007-2010) and currently The Devils Ride and Amish Mafia on the Discovery Channel. Some of these shows are questionable in the reality and truthfulness, however that just supports the idea on the media still enjoys the hype of gangs. For the most past gangs are not positive organizations and the media does play a role in creating a hype and negative perception of gangs. Some un-official proof of this is the fax and email chain that goes around a few years, in which you flashing your headlights at an on coming car (either because there lights are off of their high beams are on) is use as a common gang member...
