INDIVIDUAL DIFFEENCES INVOLVING TEACHERS AND STUDENT ON SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

Abstract
In today’s society lines are being blurred as to what is acceptable and what is not. I feel that no matter how advanced we as a whole become, it is never acceptable for a teacher to be anything other than a mentor and a guide to a student. Therefore, my theory is that a teacher will not accept advances from a student offering friendship on social media sites.

According to multiple rating sites, Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are found around the world by millions. They both have a fan base consisting of different age groups, different personalities, and different professions with different “agendas”. Supporters of these social networking sites debate that these online societies promote increased communication with family and friends, educating people with valuable computer skills, and allowing interactions with different people around the world. Because these social networking sites are widely viewed and used by a variety of people such as students, teaches, professionals, and housewives. It is viewed that it is inappropriate for students and teachers to be fiends on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter because it is a violation of ethics, it can create a lack of respect between the student and teacher, and it can also be the beginning of illegal sexual opportunity between student and the teacher.
To test my theory I had a female associate at college level in her academic career send a friend request to a professor of the same sex. Hoping that this will not turn out as my associate hopes we sat back and waited for the professor response. The professor answered with a very
