Project Scope The scope of the project for 5 in 1 is to establish a company hosted cloud, update/install clients, update/install server(s) at a centralized location (main office), update/install needed software, and establish local area networks (LAN) for each location and a wide area network (WAN) via the internet to connect each department. These install/updates will ensure speed and reliability of the system. There will also need to be an offsite backup server in case of natural disasters at the main office server that will mirror the main office server. Each client will need to be upgraded to newest in performance and software. Client server architecture would be a best fit for 5 in 1 as it is very scalable and reliable. Utilizing thin application logic, 5-1 would be able to maintain it easier and it has low overhead. This would mean most of the application logic would reside on the server. If the 5 in 1 server(s) becomes too full, they can easily add another server as the company expands. This helps with cost as you can gradually upgrade the system as needed. This type of architecture (along with middleware) also allows for many different clients, who could have different operating systems (OS), to connect to the server(s). This system is reliable because if a server fails, only applications involved with that server are out. 5 in 1 can simply replace the failed server and restore the applications to get those applications back up and running. The only drawback to this type of architecture is software. Software must be updated on both the client and the server. It is also more difficult to write software for this architecture as well, as the software on the client has to agree with the software on the server, so to speak.
