INFORMATIVE SPEECH OUTLINE

Organization: Topical Pattern

Audience analysis: My audience consists of various age groups as well as ethnicity. The people are of all walks of life including male and female Pastors, Reverends, and Elders. Their education level varies from Doctorate Degrees to High School Diploma/GED, and some that never completed school. Some of my audience is employed while others are not employed. Some have criminal backgrounds and others do not.
Topic: The career/job field that I have chosen to define/describe is Pastoring. Pastoring presents many wonderful opportunities for advancing what God values by promoting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of all people. Values (The Kingdom), you are presenting man as God sees him. He focuses on the holistic being because God desires for us to be whole (III John 1:2). Transforming us back to our original state how He made us before Adam sinned and that's the purpose of the preacher (to help bring about transformation through in the power of the Holy Spirit). He or she is to point people back to God and to help people pursue having a relationship with God.
Rhetorical Purpose: To inform people/my audience how Pastoring and ministering to people can be rewarding and fulfilling. To also inform people how you can apply the Word of God to every situation and have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Redemptive Purpose: To inform people/my audience how preaching can serve as a platform for promoting good health as well as spiritual being (III John 1:2), for promoting mental and emotional stability (Philippians 4:6-7 and I Thessalonians 5:23). These are just a few scriptures to let us know how much we mean to God according to the scriptures. There is nothing God values more than a soul and the length He will and has gone to ensure we are saved. That's the value God has and as preachers/ministers we must share that same value. We must have a love for souls and a heart for ministry.

It takes special people to be ministers and preachers, etc and that's why God chooses them out from among the people. Jesus had 12disciples but then He had the inner circle of (3) James, Peter and John.
Introduction
I. Attention-getter
Never in my wildest dream did I ever think that I would be a carrier of the Gospel let alone a Pastor. “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you.
Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations—that’s what I had in mind for you” (Jeremiah 1:5). I was raised in church all my life yet I found myself living like a heathen. I was immoral because I was committing the world’s worst sin at that time, adultery (some thought). I was ending a physically, emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusive marriage. At eighteen (18) and on the brink fo a nervous breakdown because I married a man that I should have never married. Why, you ask, because the Lord said he was not my husband but I was too afraid to say “NO” to him or his family. Because of my disobedience and fear I lived in torment for two years. One day I went to church and the Lord used a total stranger to minister to me and lead me back to Christ. II. Motive for Listening
I intend to help the audience see through of others building a psychological bridge between scripture and the experiences of others that regardless of past mistakes they, too, can be called by God to serve as pastors/ministers. Just like many of you today, you probably feel the way I felt; that was that my life was to raggedy and jacked up for God to ever have any use for me. How can God have any use for an adulterator and a backslider? I want you to know that everything you are going through God can use to facilitate His perfect plan for your life and that your past mistakes are for your making and the making of others

III. Credibility Statement
I have been a Pastor for eleven (11) months; however, I was an assistant Pastor for ten years. My life experiences as someone who has been on the margins and called by God into ministry further qualifies me to address this issue.

To show my audience that regardless to the life that one have lived (mistakes and all) God can still use you to minister to others. V. Preview Statement
I will show my audience that anyone can be a Pastor, minister, and witness for Christ regardless of your past life by first, sharing a portion of my past life with you, second, showing you actual Bible characters that had flawed lives and were used by the Lord, and third by showing you that being a witness presents awesome opportunities for you to meet all kinds of people from different walks of life. Lastly, and most importantly you must be called of God and sent by God to Preach (Romans 10:15)!

Transition: Now that I have your attention let me first discuss how my life (a pastor) was spiraling out of control but God.

Body: I. Main Point 1. We all have a past!
A. Society will condemn you all the way to hell without ever having allowing you to have an opportunity for repentance. The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). I had just graduated from High School and a friend of mine asked to me go out of town with him for the weekend but my parents said no! So I figured we could still go but come back the same day. Well, we went but on our way home he fell asleep at the wheel. We were in a near fatal car accident and I was left for dead because they didn’t see or hear me. The driver kept insisting that there was a female with him but they only saw him and they thought he was talking out of his head. They rushed him to Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va. The State Trooper that was assigned the case said just to make sure he would go back to the scene of the accident. Well, after his return to the scene he heard a faint cry of “Somebody please come here, HELP”. He followed the faint cry and there I lie all mangled up. I had a severe concussion, I broke my pelvis bone away from my spine on both sides, I broke it three places in the front in fold of my leg (groin area) and because of the concussion I had amnesia. That day forever changed my life. I spent time in a wheel chair, wearing adult diapers, sleeping in adult crib and crying for a baa-baa (bottle) every night. Due to the accident I don’t recall things so easily, I am very forgetful, and I was afraid of trying to do anything include returning to school, preach and/or pastor out of fear I will forget how or what I am suppose to do. As a pastor, I have even more compassion and understanding of young people

(NKJV) Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission. All rights reserved. who feel that they are too young to have to choose life (Jesus Christ) and/or feel that they know what’s best for them better than their parents or adults. I can identify with their struggles in some areas.

B. The past life of Nicky Cruz, who was called “Son of Satan”, by his own mother, was mentally abused into believing he was who his mother called him. He ran away from home and became a “warlord” for the gang “Mau Maus”. Today Nicky Cruz is a renowned Preach of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with a powerful “Outreach” focused on young teenagers with trouble lives (www.economicexpert.com/a/Nicky:Cruz.htm).
Lets look at the detrimental past of Bishop Ron Gibson, a former pimp, robber and Crip who is now a preacher of the gospel to all walks of life and especially to those that are like he was. Bishop Gibson like many other overdosed and kept his promise to God that if he brought him out he would serve Him. He now pastors thousands every week at his South California Mega Church. “I didn’t go through a 12-step program. I went through one step of faith and have been sober for over 30 years” (www.thefix.com/content/crips-church).
All of these pastors can relate to the struggle of their parishioners because they too have experienced struggles (some to the extreme). Therefore, they are readily equipped with firsthand experience of how God can take your life (the one you feel that God could never use) and use it to draw men and women back to Him! God restored all of us (the pastors I fore mentioned) even though society and religious people said they were no longer effective or qualified to represent or lead others to Christ. The Word of God declares that I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you (even if you detour and/or fall short) to bring you to an expected end saith the Lord (Jeremiah 29:11). The Word of God says a just man falls seven times but he gets up again (Proverbs 24:16). Just as I, you and others, have fallen and will fall…just know that the Lord Jesus Christ will be there waiting and expecting you (us) to get up again.

C. You will encounter people from every area of life. You will be granted the opportunity to minister to the very wealthiest down to the poorest of the poor. I’ve been afforded the opportunity to travel to Europe to minister since I’ve been a pastor. I have been offered the opportunity to go to Brazil and Jamaica. I’ve had the opportunity to minister to other nationalities and I owe every opportunity to the glory and honor of God. However, the awesome thing is that God will quip you for the task that he has sat before you as long as you are a willing vessel.

Transition: Next I will tell you of Bible characters of the past that you and I can relate to today. . II. Main Point 2. There is nothing new under the sun…we are merely simply repeating what has already taken place by our forefathers and ancestors.
A. The Bible is full of people just like you and I. I will not talk about Peter he was a curser, Cain was a murderer (Genesis 4:8), and Pharaoh was an Egyptian king who enslaved Israel (Exodus 1:8) because they are the usual ones that are discussed. Instead, I will speak of ones that we can relate to, ones that are where we are today. First one I will discuss is David- how he had Uriah killed on front line, got Bathsheba pregnant, but then God still said he was a man after God's own heart because he had a repentant spirit (II Samuel 11). Samson and Delilah- how he got what he wanted but lost what he had, but then God restored him one more time to avenge his people (Judges 16:1-31). Esau he was vey materialistic and a fornicator (Genesis 27:41), then there was Korah, an Israelite who organized a uprising against Moses (Numbers 16:1), you know the ones of us that start major confusion deliberately, and then there was Gomer, a very promiscuous woman (Hosea1:2). Last but not least, there was Paul, he was a murderer and he threatened the church but God met him right where he was and changed his life completely. That is the kind of God we serve. It does not matter about your life history God can and will meet you right where you are just like you are and make the difference right then or over time so that you can be a living testimony for others to see and believe. Transition: Finally, I will show you how being involved in ministry will allow you to encounter all kinds of people.

III. Main Point 3. Here are a few of the qualities and training of a good Pastor.
A. There are different trainings that one may go through depending on the
Denomination that he/she may be Pastoring. Case in point, if you are of the Methodist, Baptist, Disciples of Christ, or some Holiness or Pentecostal reformation just to name a few (but this is by no mea ns a complete list) you are required to attend Seminary or Divinity school at the Masters level. Another type of training that he/she may go through is a prentice, on the job training, and/or in the field. I personally went through on the job training and in the field.
B. Finally, the Word of God gives the traits and qualities of a good Pastor according to Acts chapter 20:20-38. Paul states that a Pastor should be committed to serving God that is including but not limited to having a humble and broken

New King James Version (NKJV) Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission. All rights reserved. heart (before God and men) (for the glory of God and the needs of men); committed to teaching people, that is a pastor must have a love of teaching and showing/instructing others on how to live a saved life; unafraid to cut across racial and social barriers a pastor cannot be afraid to teach people because of their race or socioeconomic status. A pastor should not allow themselves to be caught up in disagreements based on hatred of any kind; unafraid to tell the hard truth of the Gospel, that is the pastor will not shy away from hard things that others tend to be afraid to address. A true pastor values his ministry more than his own life that is they are willing to give Gods people whatever God said was needed and would not leave it incomplete. A pastor needs to have a clear conscience that is not being caught up in drama and not working based on the faithfulness of the member. A pastor remembers the source of His calling (“In verse 28 he says, “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.” They did not choose their calling; they were chosen by the Holy Spirit. Keeping that reality firmly fixed in their minds was vital for their success, when struggles, frustrations, and trials would tempt them to give up or compromise). A good pastor is aware of the danger of false doctrine, be a man of the Word, free from materialism, and finally have a heart of a shepherd.

Transition: For the reasons above, we see how much your life matters to the Lord regardless to what your mistakes were made. Thus, you see that you have purpose and destiny locked up in you and it took the mistakes of your life to bring you where you are today.
Conclusion:
I. Summary For the reasons above, we see how much your life matters to the Lord regardless to what mistakes were made. Thus, you see that you have purpose and destiny locked up in you and it took the mistakes of your life to bring you where you are today.

II. Refocus Audience Attention I just want to let you know that your life was not a mistake, you matter more than you realize. Your life can honor God by promoting what God values Becoming a witness, Pastor, or Minister, etc may very well solve all of your problems but you may think that your life has gotten worse before you see that God truly has it all in control. As I fore-stated your past mistakes don’t matter. The Bible is full of people who society would have said that God couldn’t use but those were the exact ones that He used. New King James Version (NKJV) Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission. All rights reserved
Their lives were full of flaws and had all kinds of issues just like you and I today. He used people who were nowhere near perfect. He used people just like us. He used me and my life was severely jacked up and headed down a path of destruction…but God Evangelist, Witnesses, etc…but the Word of God says how can they hear without a preacher and how can they preach except they are sent (Romans 10:14-15).

My Informative Speech Compared To My Shield Speech

...I was much more prepared for my informative speech compared to my Shield speech. All I did to prepare was make sure my outline was done and write notecards. I felt fairly comfortable in front of the class. I knew what I was going to talk about, my topic was not too hard to get enough information in four to six minutes without leaving anything out. The speech went well. I was in the time limit. I had good eye contact. My technology worked perfectly. The only thing I did not do was verbally cite my sources. Once I was done, I instantly thought about not citing my sources. I originally planned to cite each source at the end 0f each main point. I forgot about the first source and then quickly decided while giving my speech that I would throw them...

Informative Speech Reflection Paper

...Abubakr Mohamed 1. What I most liked about my speech was the first three and a half minutes because I started out my speech with confidence and strong voice that carries throughout the room. I also followed my outline and stick to it which made my purpose clear and showed the importance of the topic to the audience. Moreover my eye contacts was on entire audience , my posture was good , legs did not cross, no leaning on podium, and my hands movement was minimal and did not move too much which is the case when I usually talk to people. I think I also was able to show the importance of my topic to audience by getting their attention. I avoided making my speech to technical so it will be easy for those who are not familiar with the topic to understand. 2. After the three and a half minutes I started to rely heavily on my outline instead of eye contact and that the main point I need to work on. Also, I had multiple problems with stumbling over my words and using fill in words instead of speaking clearly and using very descriptive words. Furthermore, I saw that I tended to sway a lot, and that is something I will consciously try to fix during my next speech. In term of content, my outline needed more information and examples that will encourage the audience to ask questions after the speech and that will reflect their interest in my speech. For delivery , I was very nervous and I stumbled over my words and I had to pause longer than I should to recall my points ...

...COMM 10- Elements of Public Speaking Master Make-up Artistry (Informative Speech) Specific Purpose Statement: To inform my audience about the three major types of make-up needed to be a master make-up artist. Central Idea: High Fashion, Character and Prosthetic/Special effects make-up are all skills required in order to be considered a master make-up artist in the industry. Introduction When I was about 3 or 4, I remember watching my mom put on her make up and being completely fascinated by it. Well being the curious little kid that I was, I decided to be exactly like mommy and do what she did. Bad idea! I ended up in the emergency room because I had super glued by eyelashes together. Needless to say, my first experience with “make-up” was not what I’d call great. Since then though, I have grown to love make-up and so I started to wonder what makes someone a master of makeup. Body I. High fashion make-up is the foundation or rather the basics of all three make-up types. A. It’s used to identify a person’s skin type, bone structure, eyebrow and face shape. 1. Identifying all these factors into helping determine what products to use on an individual. B. Its application is solely for beauty purposes. 1. You mostly see this kind of make-up done in editorial spreads in magazines, on television, in films or on the runway. II. ...Informative Speech Introduction 1. In the contemporary world, underage drinking has become a global phenomenon especially in the developed countries such as in the US. As a result, the Oklahoma State has taken various measures to curb the vice. This is the reason behind the enactment of the Underage drinking laws-Social Host Law. The law was enacted in order to; a) Minimize the circumstances that lead to death of a minor or suffering physical injuries b) To enhance concentration at school especially for the minors c) To make societies responsible for their young people and develop virtues that would lead to productive work in future d) Promote healthy social life Body (Translation: I will begin by outlining the aspect of underage drinking, Oklahoma’s Social Host law and specifically where Cody’s law emanated from) 1. Consumption of alcohol by the young people in the US is prohibited especially for people who are below 21 years. However, despite the minimum age that is set for people who buy alcohol being 21 years in all the states, the legal requirements varies significantly. For instance: a) Wagenaar and Melvin argue that some states have exceptions whereby they allow some individuals who are below 21 years to consume alcohol (37). This indicates that the laws are not uniformly implemented across the states. b) In Ohio State, the social host law has not been limited to the drinking parties by the underage. Therefore any action that is undertaken by an underage guest...

...Ma. Sarah Katrina F. Santos June 16, 2014 11229888 SPEECOM - C32 Informative Speech How many of you thinks that having more customers is better than having fewer customers for a business? Can I see a show of hands? Alright. I presume that for those who said yes, which is the majority, raised their hand for the same reason. More customers mean more people buying and more people buying mean more profits for the company, isn’t it? Sounds sensible but I hate to break it to you but those of you who said yes are wrong. Today I will transform that thinking to exactly the opposite. I will introduce based on a new study the idea of ‘less is more’. Focusing on a smaller number of customers could help a company speed up growth, increase profit and improve long-term health. I am going to talk about how top companies gain customers, how they keep them and how these customers help them in expanding their business. They don’t need a lot of customers, just the right ones to keep them on top. First point is, fewer customers can speed up the company’s growth. Would you believe that some companies actually go out of business because of too many customers? Yes, that is true. The problem with these companies is they get very overwhelmed with the influx of customers that they forget to establish a connection with their customers. According to Forbes, this is one of the top 5 reasons why 8 out of 10 businesses fail - because they are not really in touch with their customers...

...COMM 100-06 Informative Speech Outline Title: MEDIA AND YOU Speaker: Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience will be able to take steps to ensure they and their loved ones are using social networking sites to their full advantage. Central Idea: Time is money and a huge aspect in our lives which we cannot rewind so we must use it wisely and efficiently especially in regards to the time spent on social networking sites to have a positive impact on our lives. Introduction: According to the Nielsen Company survey back in August 2009 social networking and blogging sites accounted for 17% (about one in every six minutes) of all time spent on the internet. That statistic is three years old, as of today that percentage has increased rapidly due to the almost one billion members on Facebook alone, while Twitter is growing at an increasing rate. In the wise words of the great Jim Morrison “Whoever controls the media, controls the mind,” are extremely valid because everything we talk about in our daily lives has been influenced by another person whether it be reading a newspaper, listening to the radio, or watching television. In the ensuing few minutes I will be discussing the positives, and negatives of social networking while also how we can incorporate the benefits into our lives to make social networking a huge advantage in our lives.
