When the Nazis came to power in Germany in 1933, Jews were living in every country of Europe. A total of nine million Jews lived in the countries that would be occupied by Germany during World War II. By the end of the war, two out of every three of these Jews would be dead; European Jewish life would be changed forever. This paper will tell few stories that might touch your heart. Although there are many people that say Holocaust never happened, the people who lived through it have their life stories to prove it.

She was born in December 31, 1934 in small village Kippenheim, Germany. Inge’s father was a textile merchant. They lived in a large house with seventeen rooms and had servants to help with the housework. They seem like a rich family. Inge was the only child in her family. “On November 10, 1938, hoodlums threw rocks and broke all the windows of our home. That same day police arrested my father and grandfather. My mother, my grandmother and I managed to hide in a shed until it was quiet.” (Auerbacher ) That is when the hate for jews started, but nobody thought it was gonna end they way it did. They couldn't even imagine the things that were gonna be done to them. When Inge was seven years old, her and her parents were deported to Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia. It was very hard for young seven year old girl that grew up in rich family to get used to not having anything, only clothes that she had on her. For her eighth birthday her mom gave her tiny potato cake with a hint of sugar; that's the best she could get during this time. She most likely was super happy about it because in other survivor stories, people tell that they tries to find potato peel to survive. On May 8, 1945, Inge and her parents were liberated from the Theresienstadt ghetto where they had spent nearly three years. Three years of surviving.
