Abstract An intranet is almost the same as a website, and uses Internet protocols, but made for internal use within an organization. If you have a large number of employees, an easy to use intranet would be a good business investment. You can post memos of company picnics or outings. Also you could also have links to access company policies, deadlines, and schedules for all employees to see. The flow of information, deadlines successfully met, employees communicating, and company profits for help with future business investments. An intranet is a good way to keep your data accurate and up-to-date company information. An intranet could benefit a company that has multiple employees and products, to ensure safe and effective data management. When comparing an intranet to e-mails, there is really no comparison; intranet has instant messages; e-mail can take up to five minutes to receive. Before you decide to set up an intranet, you should research and make sure that you understand what you want the intranet to do and how employees will utilize it. You can build your own custom intranet, or have an IT professional set it up and maintain it for you. Human Resources Within an organization that has multiple employees, human resources is a very important part. The human resource office is a place where you can access information such as contact information for reporting an incident. You could file a complaint about a fellow employee or a manager. You can report labor issues about your immediate supervisor, or even vacation information and schedule changes. You would not have to physically go to the human resources to get this information; you can

Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes

...Internet tools at Dirt Bikes After reviewing the concerns brought forth by the management of Dirt Bikes in regards to how much money is being spent on communication with people inside and outside of the organization, as well as their ability to gather information on the motorcycle industry and global economy I have come to the conclusion that Dirt Bikes could benefit greatly from internet tools and technology. With the right set of internet tools Dirt Bikes will be able to communicate more efficiently with each other as well as vendors, customers, and others in the industry. In addition to the right set of internet tools Dirt Bikes will also benefit from some changes to the way that they collect and manage their company data. While not specifically an internet tool the first place to start I think is to get the company set up with a local area network. By having a network file server or one computer in the office dedicated as a file server and having it linked to the other computers in the office, management and employees will have an easier time accessing and sharing company data. Additionally having all of the company data stored in one place will make generating reports easier as well as other tasks such as payroll and ordering parts or supplies from their various venders. Having their computers set up on a network will also enable Dirt Bikes to share equipment such as printers. The tools that Dirt Bikes will need in order to set up the network are The network server...

Verbal Communication Paper

...Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes Keith B. Fuller Sunday February 20, 2011 IT/205 Mark Cherry Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes One concern on the Dirt Bike management is the cost of their communication processes, and information collection, especially due to the many changes happening in the world economy. The motorcycle business is one of those that will be affected by these changes. Before this concern is addressed, a thorough analysis of the recent communication and information retrieval processes of the company will be performed, in order to come up with the most appropriate IT systems to be incorporated in the company. With the analysis, the right communication and information tools can be chosen properly, in order to cater to the productivity and profitability needs of the company. Some system tools that will be certainly used are intranet, VOIP, wired and wireless data networks. Before incorporating all of those, the management still had to be consulted to decide whether they are willing to spend for those system requirements. Considering the initial analysis produced on the Dirt Bike information system, it was discovered they are already providing their employees with desktop computers that have Internet connections. This is still not enough in creating a smoother and faster information flow in the organization, increasing the productivity of the employers, and providing better access for the real time changes happening in the motorbike industry. From the resources...

Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes

...Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes University of Phoenix Dirt Bikes is a global bike company that provides merchandise as well as support, tips and tools to its wide range of customers. Dirt Bikes has been in business since 1985 and has really doubled in size in the past 5 year. The company board members and senior staff have been looking for additional ways to grow Dirt Bikes even more, with the hopes of turning this business and to a multimillion dollar company. After reviewing the company’s business model I have come up with several ways to assist Dirt Bike with the growth of the business. As it stands Dirt Bikes has 3 store fronts and 2 50,000 feet warehouses that manufacturing is performed out of. Customers must currently come into a store, discuss bike options with employees and place bike orders in the store. The sales representative than plugs in the order on the computer that has been provided. Once the order has been put into the system, another employee at the warehouse begins to build the bike that the customer ordered at the store. Currently this process could take several weeks with a number of follow ups to the customer to ensure that the bike is being built to the customer’s satisfaction. My proposal is to continue to have a store front but also to create a global website, whereby anyone can go online to the Dirt Bike’s website and from their home computer, laptop or even from a smart phone build their own bike right online. Once all the specifications...

Dirt Bikes

...Internet Tools and Dirt Bikes By: Anthony Williams Based upon the information given to us, Dirt Bikes first order of business should be to sit down and draw up a plan regarding how they will proceed and what they will need to achieve that goal followed by an Internet and Information and tools usage policy. First thing to determine is how many of Dirt Bikes employees actually need computers or mobile devices and of those that need a PC or mobile device, who needs access to the internet in order to do their job. Like everything else, without a plan as in many other business aspects, implementation of an Intranet is doomed to fail without being properly planned. After determining their needs we need to look at the benefits of intranets for Sales and Marketing, Human Resources and Manufacturing and Production. An intranet is inexpensive to implement and easy to use. Because a majority of people surf the web/internet already, implementation and learning how to use the company intranet should be fairly easy. Intranets are also scalable and flexible which means as the company increases production and or size so can its intranet. Intranets can integrate data from diverse sources, such as manufacturing and production along with sales and marketing, external competitor research, etcetera. Company intranets with different focuses can offer Dirt Bikes many benefits such as improved decision making, empowering users to be part of the process and have input by building a...

Internet Solutions for Dirt Bikes

...Internet Solutions for Dirt Bikes | By: Frank HartmanMarch 17, 2013 | I have been asked to investigate how Internet tools and technology could be used to help Dirt Bikes’ employees communicate and obtain information more efficiently. Dirt Bikes provides Internet access to all employees who use desktop computers. I will look at different options and give Dirt Bikes a review of these options. I will also explain how these options can benefit Dirt Bikes. | | Intranet Tools and Benefits According to Laudon and Laudon (2009), Internet networking standards and Web technologies can be used to create private networks that are called intranets. An intranet is private and secure network that is restricted to use by authorized individuals. The intranet network is protected by a firewall which prevents unauthorized individuals from entering the network. Sales and Marketing could benefit from using an intranet system by having instant access to accurate information concerning product information, marketing analysis, sales reports, and other necessary information to make decisions for these departments. The human resources department could benefit from the intranet in a couple of different ways. This could start with the way that prospective employees apply for a job. By having the applicants use a secure terminal it would allow the HR department...

...Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes IT/205 July 3, 2012 Lo Li Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes Dirt Bike’s management has a concern about how much money is spent on communicating with people inside and outside the organization and obtaining information about developments in the motorcycle industry and the global economy. I am investigating the introduction to an intranet system and how Internet tools and technology could be used to help Dirt Bikes’ employees communicate and obtain information more efficiently by providing recommendations of various Internet tools that could be used to help those in the Dirt Bikes’ company be productive and ultimately try to save them money. Recommendations Since many of the staff already has a computer it means that they can be hooked up to have access to the Internet to perform better on the different tasks that the job include. I would recommend creating a secure and private network called an intranet that can allow an organization to have a network that is protected and private. The intranet helps to keep the information safe by using firewalls to block out the public from gaining access to the company’s private information. A firewall is a form of protection software installed in the computers to create a block on the system to keep the company’s private networks from outsiders. This can be synced to the network infrastructure the company is already using along with an Internet network such a wide-area network (WAN). This will increase the...

...Dirt Bikes' Management Dirt Bikes’ management is concerned about how much money they have been spending on communicating with people inside and outside the organization. I have designed a strategy on how to use internet tools and technology to help Dirt Bikes’ employees communicate and obtain information more efficiently, earning revenue and creating marketing opportunities. Everything about a company must be broken down and looked at so that a person can see where the problems are coming from and how to solve them. Sometimes it is not the company, but the fact the company has not upgraded to the use of updated technology. The key is to integrate their current technology and business structure through the intranet and internet. The intranet is highly beneficial to Dirt Bikes’ business because it allows all of the employee’s instant access to job tools and services that help to increase productivity. The intranet is a collection of private computer networks within an organization, this will help them to be more productive, safer and protected. It uses network technologies as a tool to facilitate communication between people and it is also designed to improve data sharing capabilities. The Human Resources Department as well as sales and marketing can benefit thru the Intranet structure. The section of the Intranet for these departments will include links for employees to access information for their wages, company benefits, online W-2 access and more. It would also be designed...

Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes

...Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes IT/205 8/7/11 Axia College of University of Phoenix Internet Tools at Dirt Bikes Many organizations use the Internet and the Web technology to make their business more productive, efficient, and to cut cost. Developing a central information system (IS) is vital to organizing and storing information pertaining to all company processes. An IS will make the” six important business objectives: operational excellence; new products, services, and business models; customer and supplier intimacy; improved decision-making; competitive advantage; and survival” achievable. (Laudon & Laudon, 2009,p7) “Information systems and technologies are some of the most important tools available to managers for achieving higher levels of efficiency and productivity in business operations.” (Laudon & Laudon, 2009, p7) A firewall is important to have to make a security barrier that ensures that the information within the company’s information systems safe from hackers and access by outside sources. A system’s firewall is just one of many ways a company can ensure the safety of their private information. All employees need to be linked in a way that will make information sharing and communication more efficient. Creating an intranet is one way to do this. Intranets allow the company’s sales and marketing, human resources, and manufacturing and production departments to have a private and protected network where they can communicate with each other. ...I was choossen by the Dirt Bikes’ management team, because they are concerned about how much money is being spent on communicating with people inside their organization as well as outside the organization. They are also concerned as to how much money is being spent to obtain information regarding productions in the motorcycle enterprise and the global economy. Now Dirt Bikes provides Internet access to all employees who use desktop computers with in their company, and I have been asked to investigate how Internet tools and technology could be used to help Dirt Bikes’ employees communicate and obtain information more efficiently. In doing so I will also cover the benefits of implementing Intranets in Dirt Bikes’ departments ofmarkting, human resources, production, sales, and manufacturing .   in Addition, I will also suggest other tools on the internet that are going to help the organization as well as the benefits of providing wireless access to Dirt Bikes’ employees and its effect on the organization. Our goal is to have the company be more productive and in the end ultimately saveing time and money. . My Recommendations Since we already know that the Dirt Bikes company provides Internet access to the employees using desktop computers, I feel that it makes more sense to create a private network while using there existing network connections as well as creating the Intranet that supports wireless technology as well. basically an Intranet is the network of networks which...
