...the former namesake was executed for treason; and he was ordained King of Scotland after murdering the venerable Duncan. Thus, Macbeth has a rather ghastly way of advancing in life. This theme is further verified by King Duncan's statement "There's no art/ To find the mind's construction in the face." (Act 1, Scene 4, Lines 11-12) Although Macbeth has the semblance of the amicable and dutiful host, ("fair") he is secretly plotting Duncan's death ("foul"). Furthermore, Lady Macbeth's orchestration of the murder exemplifies the twisted atmosphere in Inverness. Both a woman and a host, she should be the model of grace and femininity. She is described, however, as a "fiendlike queen" (Act 5, Scene 6, Line 69) and exhibits a cold, calculating mentality. In addition, the very porter of Inverness likens the place to the dwelling of the devil Beelzebub. This implies that despite its "pleasant seat," (Act 1, Scene 6, Line 1) Inverness is a sinister and evil place. It is also interesting to note that Macbeth is unable to say a prayer to bless himself after murdering Duncan. It is...

...at St. Vincent’s Hospital. I am the first born of Peter & Kimberly Wren, II. At the time, my father was the youth minister at my grandfather’s church. Although my mother matriculated and graduated with a degree from Stillman College she decided to devote her life to caring for Kinsley, Chynna, Peter, III, and me. Watching the selfless service and sacrifices of my parents has motivated me to strive for excellence, servitude, and discipline. Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama has gifted me in many ways. A few of the gifts have been in education, southern hospitality, and cultural awareness. My primary education started at Inverness Elementary School. Not only was I able to learn, mingle with others, but once a week I was able to buy my favorite slush. I attended Inverness from Kindergarten through Fourth grade. Leaving Inverness Elementary prepared me for Berry Middle School, or so I thought. I remember the first day like it was yesterday. It was a massive campus and very overwhelming in...

...E Oversættelse When you first arrive in the Schottish town Inverness, and you take your first walk down the main street you get the impression that a lot of the inhabitants of the town, earn their living by the myth about the Loch Ness monster in almost every window you see nessie-posters. cards over Loch Ness with information about where and when she was seen the last time, Nessie on postcards, “Scientific” drawings by different prehistoric reptile which looks like descriptions of her, sea monsters of glass and porcelain, toys Nessies with bagpipe and tam o’ shanter, books full of shocking anecdotes and scientifical treatises about this famous sea monster, who maintains to live in the muddy water, way below the water level in the inconceivable deep Loch Ness. Zoologists, who believe IN Nessie’s existence, thinks that a prehistoric saurian family, so called plesiosaurus’, has survived in the depths of the sea, where it has fed of eel, salmon and trout, which is to be found in huge quantities in Loch Ness. The first written account about Nessie descends from the year 565, and since then Nessie has been seen many times, partly as a shadow right under the water level and partly as inexplicable humps in the water. 22nd July 1933 she actually came up from the water, if you should believe Mr. Spicer and his wife, who an early morning, drove through the winding road between the towns Dores and Foyers. They saw a giant creature lumber across the road, which at this point is very...

...‘Shakespeare is interested in the essentials of human nature, holding a mirror up to our humanity’ Shakespeare understood humanity in a way that no other playwright before him had ever explored. Harold Bloom, a prominent Shakespeare authority and literary critic, contends that Shakespeare invented personality and human nature as we know it today. Up until Shakespeare, there was a “villain”, a “hero”, a “fool” and an “innocent” and the audience knew right away which was which. Shakespeare didn’t write “heroes” and “villains.” He wrote real people with real flaws, who were all equally capable of committing good and evil. One of the most important themes in Macbeth involves the witches' statement in Act 1, Scene1 that "fair is foul and foul is fair." (Act 1, Scene 1, Line 10) This phrase aptly describes the macabre status quo within the character Macbeth and without. When Macbeth and Banquo first see the weird sisters, Banquo is horrified by their hideous appearances. Conversely, Macbeth immediately began to converse with these universally known evil creatures. After hearing their prophecies, one can say that Macbeth considered the witches to be "fair" when in reality their intentions were quite "foul." Macbeth's possession of the titles of Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland came by foul means. Macbeth became the Thane of Glamis by his father Sinel's death; he became Thane of Cawdor when the former namesake was executed for treason; and he was ordained...

...The Castle is meant to symbolize Macbeth’s reputation to others; the home represents the homeowner to those who view the house. It is his original castle, Inverness. Inverness, the word, means ‘a sleeveless cloak with a removable cape.’ For Macbeth, a cloak that masks his true intentions. Also, a castle is traditionally a symbol of grandeur and nobility. One placed on the top of a mountain or hill (the castle used is placed on a hill) characterizes strength. These impressive traits are meant to showcase the original reputation of Macbeth as a noble and successful General of the King’s Army. Castles are also symbols of power, which Macbeth has and his greed for is evident throughout the play (same for Lady Macbeth). However, the picture...

...He did this again in 1975 and saw a large creature with a long neck, small head, and flippers (Hile). Sonars at the time were a good source of technology to investigate mysteries. They are used in difficult locations including dark murky water as is Loch ness. This gadget would be the best device to use at this time to find Nessie in the big loch. Sonars have proven that the Loch Ness Monster is real. The legend of Loch Ness was born in the early 1930’s when a local newspaper, the Inverness Courier, published an article about the lochness monster that made it worldwide mystery. Before this article, the monster of Loch ness was mentioned in Scottish history in AD 500. “The monster retreated and never killed another man” , stated St. Columba about his encounter with the so called beast. Irish Christian missionary wrote in his biography about the beast and his encounter. He “commanded” the creature to “go back with all speed” and the monster retreated (Loch Ness Monster Sighted). The Inverness Courier is a famous new company in the UK. St. Columba is the earliest evidence of the Loch Ness Monster. On the contrary, some believe that the photos of the Loch Ness Monster are so called fake because of the slate and dull water of Loch Ness. The photos may have been staged by the photographer or by someone else trying to trick the photographer or even tourists. The “surgeon's photo” was the first picture of the Loch Ness Monster in 1933 by Robert Wilson, but was proven fake in 1994...

The imaginary island gave Shakespeare the opportunity to create endless possibilities for activities in the story. The island was described as “ barren and arid” and magical place. The Twelfth Night was set in an imaginary Dukedom in a city called Illyria which is today parts of Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Albania, Croatia, and Montenegro. It is a place set on the Adriatic coast which gave Shakespeare the perfect mysterious setting he had in mind for his play. The main part of the play takes place in Paris and Roussillon France and as well as Italy. Shakespeare's “Measure for Measure” takes place in the Catholic...

...------------------Remembering the Champ---------------------- "What a great par this is gonna be". Those of you that have had the pleasure of playing golf with Brian might recall hearing him call that one out. If you haven't heard it, then I'll give you his explanation for it. My name is Matt Lynch. As one of Brian's golfing buddies from Overbrook Golf Club I've been asked to make a few comments about the golf and Overbrook portion of his life. It is an honor to do so. Regarding his phrase "what a great par this is gonna be".....Brian was a very good golfer and part of that included being an accurate driver off of the tee. Occasionally though, even Superman would hit an errant tee shot...one destined for the trees or thick rough or some other obstacle. It's at that moment, when he knew that he'd hit a bad one, that he'd say "what a great par this is gonna be". He'd explain it like this. He saw no sense in cursing about the bad shot; no sense in slamming your club, much less ever tossing your club. That was all just wasting energy on something that was over. The shot was history and there's nothing you could do about it so why waste the energy crying about it? Instead, it would be so much smarter, so much more productive to channel all of that energy into the next shot. Look forward. Figure out what you can do to salvage the situation and turn a rough start into a great par. I KNOW that's how he conducted himself on the golf course and I believe that's how he...

...On October 15th, Duncan, King of Scotland has been found dead at Macbeth’s castle in Inverness, Scotland. Macbeth, the Thane of Cawdor along with Thane of Glamis and his wife, Lady Macbeth had prepared a feast the night before the murder, for Duncan’s arrival to their castle to celebrate Macbeth’s bravery in the war. The morning after the feast, Duncan was discovered dead on his bed, in his chamber with a stab wound in his chest. Lord Macduff, Thane of Fife, was the first to find the King of Scotland, lifeless in his room. After Lady Macbeth heard the news, she reportedly fainted at the sight, as she could not believe that such a terrible deed could happen under her own roof. There are no witnesses yet to be confirmed and the killer(s) is still unknown, as the assailant has left no certain evidence of his/her identity....

...tribe called the Picts during the 1st century A.D. had left many stone carvings of local animals, all of these animals were identifiable except one, it shows a large animal with an elongated neck and a small head with a long tail and thick neck whose legs ended in flippers (Knauer 32). Once rumors began it wasn't long until more people began to visit the Loch Ness trying to see Nessie, and multiple reports of sightings began to stir up. An estimate of ten thousand sightings was reported and this started the Scottish folklore of the Loch Ness Monster, countless tourist and visitors started to visit the Loch Ness in hopes of catching a glimpse of the beast. Nessie as for modern fame may have started in May 1933, when a correspondent for the Inverness Courier wrote a story based on latest sightings of the beast. This story provoked a lot of local interest and prompted other people to come forward with their own tales of the monster, and in July there was another sighting reported, then by the time October came around over twenty more Nessie eventually made it to the headline news and was shown throughout the world (Bradlbury 112). As humanity begins to modernize and we begin to use technology more and more eventually one group set out to try and finally find Nessie. Armed with years of sonar experiments, Shines group conducted a survey in 1987 it was the first precise survey ever attempted on the Loch Ness. This operation swept the lake top to bottom, side to side, and end to end and...

It's been said officialy since 1933, a mysterious huge creature was seen and since then it has came to world's and especially scientists attention. It was July the 22nd when George Spicer and his wife were on their way somewhere, out of nowhere a never seen before creature crossed the road infront of their car. They said it had a large body, long neck, and it was heading towards the Loch approximately 20 yards away. As the sources said the creature noticed Mr. Grant and headed back to the loch, He then quickly got of his motorcycle and followed the path the monster took, just to see it again. He claimed it had a small head and a long neck just like the Spicer's have said. Its never been said what type of monster the '' Nessie '' actually is.
