...over the southwest U.S there have been drug cartels which smuggle drugs and weapons from country to country illegally. More recently within the past few years Mexican and U.S. authorities have uncovered multiple tunnels from Mexico to the U.S. which link the two together. The tunnels are used to transport and smuggle these items from Mexico into the U.S. where cartel leaders and generals distribute them to their gangs throughout the country. Also contributing to the issue along our over 2,000 mile long border with Mexico between the United States and Mexico there are well over 7,000 gun dealers on the U.S. side. As we see the drugs moving north, most of the guns are heading south. The most serious issues in my opinion with the cartels are that innocent people are being killed every day due to the violence and greed of money. ...ETHICAL REASONING ASSIGNMENT By :Lina Cassis 500389711 LAW 122-011 491 Word The issue that is raised in Martha’s situation is the fact that she made a statement about Bob in public that could ultimately ruin his reputation. The legal aspect of this issue is the fact that she made a defaming statement about Bob. Defamation can either be slander or liable, although it was slander when Martha communicated a wrongful accusation “that Bob is not a man of his Word” to a third party(TBREA) that caused them(assuming they are reasonable people) to have a lower opinion of Bob, which can cause his business to suffer. The ethical aspect of this issue is the fact that Martha being a reasonable person should have known that it is ethically wrong to talk about somebody in a hurtful way especially among his peers. Martha will be liable for defamation. She slandered Bob’s reputation and as a result his clients will doubt his word and his reputation and business as a result will suffer. The statement “Bob just doesn’t keep promises” is indeed defamatory statement because a reasonable person would have thought that it referred to the plaintiff (McInnis,Kerr,Vanduzer; 2014).Member of the (TBREA) knew that Martha was referring to Bob because she made no effort to even hide his name, although if she has just said “he just doesn’t keep his promises” members might not know who she is referring to and consequently would not be a defamatory statement. Martha does not have any defences to the tort...

...Ethical Issues in Management Discipline is very important when it comes to the workplace. In order for a company to run properly, they must establish guidelines that all employees are required to follow. The company should also incorporate reprimands for when employee fails to act out a certain guideline. If a manager allow certain employees to break rules this causes tension in the workplace because this makes other employees feel inferior. It also allows the employees who are breaking the rules feel like they can do whatever they want. This paper will address the moral and ethical issues faced by managers, how the relationship between social issues and ethically responsible management practices relate to discipline, a workplace example of an ethical dilemma related to discipline, what legal aspects did management faced during this dilemma, and what legalities governed or should have governed the decision. Managers utilize moral expressions in their lingo for a lot of different reasons. In some situations the manager uses moral for opposing reasons. Managers use moral to talk to make issues clear and easy to understand. They also use it to incorporate norms that are relevant to society. Managers are faced by moral and ethical issues every day. In order for managers to enforce these two issues properly they must come up with ways to fairly handle or address the situation. There are several ways that morals and ethics are related to discipline. A manager...

...Physical Networking Week 1 Lab Geoffrey Gwyn Advantages of a landline system: • Greater reliability of service; since calls are coming and going over physical lines, calls are clearer and more stable. • Ease of Maintenance: corded phones are easy and relatively inexpensive to repair over the complicated cell phone/smartphone. • Greater Security: much more difficult to listen or break in on landlines over radio waves. • Data speed of landline: 256kbps (Landline DSL) • Speeds are dependent on the ISP. Advantages of a Cellular system: • Portability: able to work from (almost) anywhere • Not as easy to repair/more expensive as well • Less secure: radio waves are easier to intercept than landlines • Current data speeds for cellular data: 4G can deliver download peak speeds of 100Mbs and upload speeds of 50Mbs. 3G currently provides data transfer speeds of up to 384kbps. EDGE currently provides data transfer speeds of up to 170kbps. GPRS currently provides data transfer speeds of up to 56kbps. So depending on where you are located this can be very good or not so much. • Cell phones offer GPS data for tracking • You would need less equipment: with the landline system you would need phones, computers, routers and all the wires. With cellular you would need a phone and maybe a tablet or laptop. Much less expensive in start-up. In my opinion, when considering all the progress made in cellular technology in the past few years it is still prudent to conduct a business...

...Sexual Harrasment There are two types of harassment: quid pro quo and hostile environment sexual harassment. Based upon the scenario, Mrs. Murphy has a legally viable claim for both quid pro quo and hostile environment sexual harassment against Personal Connections Are Us, Inc. Quid pro quo harassment occurred when the manager Dwayne Miller told Mrs. Murphy to accompany him on a trip in which they would share a room. He offered her a transfer to another department and a promotion if she exposed her breasts to him. She refused and was then demoted to the mailroom and took a pay cut. Hostile environment harassment occurred when Robert Singer, Mrs. Murphy’s co-worker, made comments about her picture in which she had a bathing suit top on. He took it a step further by taking the picture and putting it on his screensaver on his computer and made obscene edits of the picture. The likely outcome will be that Mrs. Murphy would win her sexual harassment case against People Connections Are Us, Inc. Every claim should be treated seriously, no matter how unusual or seemingly frivolous it might first appear, until an informed decision can be made. The first step in an investigation usually involves an in-depth interview of the complainant. Areas that should be pursued during this interview include: the cultural background of the complainant, a detailed reconstruction of the incident(s) that prompted the complaint, the context and circumstances in which it occurred, the involved...
