Organization A: This is an insurance agency that has over 100,000 customers nationwide. It currently has about 5,000 employees and 2,000 of them are agents in the field with their own offices. This agency primarily sells life, auto, and home policies. It has come to my understanding that your organization has grown over the past 5 years and is looking for advice on your information technology needs. I also understand that your organization has 5,000 employees and 2,000 of them are agents that are in the field. With that being said, I would recommend your company to use 2 types of computers. One type of computer would be for the 3,000 employees that are stationed within your home base and the other computer would be for the 2,000 that are in the field. For the agents in the field, I would recommend that they use a laptop. Finding a good laptop for the agents in the field should be fairly simple, provided with the proper websites to research their needs. Starting the search for a laptop for your organization, I am first looking for an Operating System that is easy to operate for the agents in the field. Windows 7 Professional is the operating system that I use now and would be my operating system of choice for your organization. Next, I’m looking for the processor and memory, which could bring the price up dramatically. Going with the 3rd Gen. Intel Core i7-3520M Processor and 8GB DDR3 could bring the price up $500 alone, which I would highly recommend paying for.
