Have you ever wondered how technology affects us? What about how it affects our relationships? Or even in some of our development? Sherry Turkle is an American sociologist who has stud-ied this topic for a large amount of time and has a very valid argument when it comes to it, that we don’t need to remove technology from our life but just become more mindful of our relation-ship with it. This though is also supported by Jasper Burley and Jonathan Coleman, who have also presented lots of examples when it comes to the subject. Likewise, to Turkle, Jasper Burley has written a piece discussing the issues of teens becoming antisocial called Social Media Making Teens Antisocial. According to Burley, “The University of Western Australia conducted a study and found that when teenagers have more than three hours of screen time a day every day for an extended amount of time the side effects begin to show” (Burley Page One). He goes on to give further examples of the side effects that can range from poor sleep to increased consumption of unhealthy foods. He then states, “Teenagers' personal lives are also being affected negatively due to not as much face to face and physical contact with parents and friends, prompting shyness and weakening relationships” (Burley Page 2.)
