Jean Michel Basquiat had once said “I don't listen to what art critics say. I don't know anybody who needs a critic find out what art is.” Jean was a very powerful role model in art culture, to influence and change the perspective of humans who criticizes art for the color of the artists. He didn't mind being judged by looks, when people talked about his personality and despicable awful color for skin he didn't mind. When people criticize his art only by the color of his skin he gets indignant because no one is avow to have the power to criticize people. Jean wanted people to see how it's not a sin to blend different cultures together. Jean had many drug problems he wasn't happy, he was depress through his lifetime and the only way to heal his pain was through drugs. He soon discover that he needed help after facing attacks because of him overdosing he went to rehab but soon leaves after two weeks in 1986. February 22 1987 was when Basquiat's role model and best friend dies Andy Warhol. Basquiat’s had worked and believed And Warhol to be his one true friend in the world, Andy motivated Basquiat to stop the drugs and focused in the good things in life. Basquiat took Andy’s death to hard and became more depressed than before, he stays inside his studio working and doing more drugs than someone could do trying to make his pain go away. During Andy’s memorial, Basquiat shows his white and black Pegasus painting in memorial to Andy. Jean starts rehab all over again but on his own during in June 1988 but before his comeback in April 29 to June 11 showing new art work and expressing in a speech how culture is color just like the rainbow it's mixed leaving everyone with a clear mind and changed aspect. August 12, 1988 Jean Michel Basquiat died from a drug intoxication in Great Jones Street loft, dying at age 27. During this time his exhibition in Whitney Museum, New York opens up.
