In the Spring of senior year, Jessica Cabrillo was about to graduate summa cum laude. She had worked hard throughout high school to get an acceptance into the University of California, Los Angeles for it was her dream school. Jessica grew up in a rough neighborhood of South Central Los Angeles. In her high school the graduation rate was less than fifty percent, so there didn’t seem to be much future in education. Jessica knew her ticket out of poverty was to do well in school and go to a great college to earn a degree.
