TEAM WORK CHARTER

PURPOSE: The purpose of developing a team charter is to jump-start your work together as a team, to help avoid the problems commonly faced by many teams, and to facilitate continual improvement of your teamwork throughout the entire project. By addressing the following issues, you should be able to enhance your team’s performance, member satisfaction, and learning.

INSTRUCTIONS: Develop your team charter through mutual discussion and consensus during your first team meeting. Please complete the following components.

e) How will your team use the Basecamp collaboration platform? (e.g., collaborate in real-time on text documents, post and respond to discussions, schedule meetings on the calendar, make to-do lists, etc.)

5. Operating Guidelines

a) How will your team make decisions?
We will allow our team members to make their own decisions and ask other team mates, the opinion on those decisions, what others think about the decisions? This way it will be a collective team decision. The decision will only be made when all the team members are comfortable and agree with the decision. Through this members of the team will be able to make high quality decisions together and have the support and commitment of the group to carry out the decisions made.

b) What are your team’s expectations regarding team member performance and contribution quality?
The Communication within the team should be open, honest, and respectful this way each team member will be able to give optimal contribution which will in turn lead to good team performance. Our team will constantly examine itself and continuously improve the tasks, practices, and the interaction of team members. Our team will openly discusses team norms and what may be hindering its ability to move forward and progress in areas of effort, talent, and strategy.

c) What are your team’s expectations regarding cooperation and attitudes?
Innovative and creative ideas are welcomed from the team and different viewpoints are expected and encouraged. We aren’t supporting attitudes such as, "we already tried that but it didn't work” instead we’ll try to find new innovative concepts" and also we aren’t allowing comments such as "what a dumb idea" etc.

6. Conflict Management a) What strategies will your team will use to resolve differences of opinions among members?

b) What strategies will your team use to deal with non-cooperative or underperforming members?

c) How will your team handle unexpected issues (e.g. family emergencies, illnesses, etc.)?
