Making the Choice to become a Psychologist

As long as I’ve thought about having a future job I knew I wanted to be a psychologist. I think some school activities might have lessons for being a psychologist but I’m not very interested. The only activities I like are mine which are considered to me are hobbies. I have many interests that make me happy and these are just a few, and I am happy to say I know I am going to have a wonderful living. But this is just my future career, my current school activities, and hobbies of my life.

I really would love becoming a psychologist. Mostly I would like to have seccions with more children than adults. Also I am a person with personal experience. so I know what they have went through, and wouldn’t have a hard time understanding what point of view they have or where they come from when they try to talk to me. And I would be more than happy to give advice if they are having any trouble with things at home and anywhere else or anyone else.

I actually am not very interested in any school activities. I’d rather stay more focused on school work. In plus if I do any activities I might end up forgetting about homework. And sometimes I don’t do very well on assignments. So I could just stay after school getting help with any work that needs to get done, instead of school activities. Or I could just spend my free time on the very many hobbies I enjoy doing.

What I really enjoy are my hobbies. I like to go shopping, talk on the phone, eat junk food, play pranks on my brothers and sisters, and go on internet sites to chat (For example face book, yahoo, and aim). I like to go shopping with friends and family. One of the main reasons why is because, it gives you time to relax and talk. I like to talk on the phone because, it’s one of the things I do with spare time and if I haven’t talked to one in a very long time it gives us things to catch up on. Eating junk food makes me hyper or sometimes really tired if I eat to much. Some candy is like Willy Wonka candy different things happen…but in this case different things happen to me like sometimes when I chew gum I get hiccups. When I play pranks on my brothers and sisters they’re kind of bad so I’m not really going to discuss that. And lastly the internet sites I go on are not for a bad cause, I really only have family for the sites I go on, and whatever I do it says on the front of the home page.

In conclusion I would like to be a psychologist. I am not very interested in any school activities. Mainly because I’m more interested in my school work. And my hobbies are shopping, talking on the phone, eating junk food, playing pranks on my brothers and sisters, and chatting on the internet. But this is just my future career, my current school activities, and hobbies of my life.

...Strategic Communication is the advancement of a narrative. As humans, we've done this since the day we were born. In fact, it is literally the first thing we did when we were born. We moved in a direction of advancement out of our mother's wombs and celebrated after with a jubilant cry. We are natural born salespeople constantly pushing our narrative to whoever falls for it and eventually buys into what we’re selling. The "narrative" comes in all shapes and sizes: a cause, a purpose, an idea or a goal. We advance this narrative by using actions, opinions, facts and even memes. It's a constant, daily battle against others. A battle for jobs, wins, votes, donations, standing ovations, positive reviews, admiration, likes on social media, awards and deals, to name a few. In the end, we hope to achieve a favorable result and as of late, pop culture has become the largest engine that helps drive our narrative. TV shows like Shark Tank, QVC and HSN are perfectly crafted models of how to advance the narrative in front of millions of people all at once. We use TV shows like America's Got Talent and The Voice as launching pads of our narratives. We're constantly asked to assist in the daily narratives of others: "click this link", "vote by text", "call today", "go to this website", "order now" and "don't wait." I should know, I have seen firsthand how strategic communication works in media and how bloody the battle can become. If you want a real world, war-like...

Forging Your Path the Home Depot

...Forging Your Path with The Home Depot Shannon Burten CGD 218 Visiual Literacy in Business David Hannum June 13, 2016 Forging Your Path with The Home Depot What is career advancement? In the article, Career advancement: What it is and how to achieve it, Louie (2013) defines it as, “…one of the most important elements for employee satisfaction and retention at a company” (para. 1). Home Depot’s main goal is employee satisfaction which correlates directly to Louie’s definition of career advancement. Career advancement is a huge opportunity at the Home Depot that many people tend to pass off after becoming complacent in different field positions. There are eight career areas within Home Depot and each area is interchangeable. The areas include: retail, merchandising, supply chain, services, contact centers, civilian, corporate, and technology. If an employee begans a career with the Home Depot in any of these areas and decides to advance, they can move vertically within that area or horizontally to a different career area. Victor Lipman (2013), contributor of Forbes Magazine, explains that, “clear opportunities for career advancement are an "especially powerful" employee motivator” (p. 1). Lipman (2013) also notes, "At times when career paths were clear, individuals tended to be more motivated, with tangible goals to work towards. At times when career paths were dim or nonexistent, individuals tended...

Each day new ways of completing tasks are created and we are seeing major shifts in how business is generated. Workers are continuously changing their daily lives due to the trends that rapidly occur in today’s workforce. Workers are able to preform tasks from practically anywhere in the world or on the road through the vast amount of electronic devices making it possible to communicate through the Internet and cellular signals. Managers are forced to adopt new techniques making it possible to utilize these long distance communication advancements. With the vast amount of “spam” emails flooding workers inboxes, they must be careful on how to compose emails. Workers must be clear and careful when creating an email. Employees at all levels must be extra careful and professional with composing emails, and also whom the email is shared with. There has recently been a large amount of websites created for those hunting for jobs. This means that companies have the ability to search through thousands of resumes quickly and efficiently. This means that companies are adopting the “best person for the job” approach when hiring. Regardless of employee location, they are still a viable option when a company is looking for job candidates. Organizational Behavior

...1. Many people do not receive as many strokes as they feel they deserve on a regular basis. Why do they feel this way? What could their managers do about it? What could they do themselves? Some people may feel this way because of the environment they grew up in or they may be comparing this current job to previous jobs. Managers could offer a pat on the back or a verbal good job, or even some constructive criticism. The employers could do their job to the best of their ability and not seek a stroke from his or her boss but from himself/herself. 2. Think of an organization you are familiar with. What types of power are used there? How do people react to those bases? What changes would you recommend? Honestly all types of power are used in softball. The coach generally has personal power; they have legitimate power as a coach. The coach also has expert power because the coach has played at various levels. The coach also has reward power; if the team does well then they are rewards in different ways. People can react differently, but they normally respect at least one of the powers mentioned above. There isn’t any change I would recommend. 3. Review the definition of organizational politics. Can an organization be totally free of political behavior? What would it be like? How could you make it happen? In my opinion it can’t. In every successful business there is some form of politics, good or bad. Its not what you know its who you know; that stands very true in the city of...

...Lima, Ohio is faced with having to confront strong job dissatisfaction of their employees, as well as high turnover among its line foremen. Aside from the turnover rate being 46% in 2007, the plant also was facing expensive costs for raw materials, and hardcore global competition. Problems having to do with the foremen are not only part of deeper concerns with workforce management, but also stem from being the role that those people play in the process of production. The foremen are caught in between the union and management, and must find a balance between the adversarial relationship, most likely by coping with the needs and interests of both at hand. This can be considered as an immediate problem. As for a long-term problem, the HR director at Lima Plant, Ashley Wall, believes the cause of turnover is from serious morale issues with line-foramen segment and their resulting job dissatisfaction. An objective of the case, and motivation to fix to industry comes from fixing its turnover rate. The plant could focus to reduce costs and increase productivity in this area, specifically. Aside from job dissatisfaction, Treadway Tire’s Lima Plant is faced with a serious problem of high turnover among its line foremen, in which about half of those leaving their positions were leaving voluntarily, and the rest were being asked to leave after “failing”. Everyone is shaped by his or her experiences because of company culture, unique situations, personal history, and other individuals they work with. We all learn and grow as we learn through these experiences…… Story 1 – But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others Summary of Material Our first story talks about the fact that there is a hierarchy of executives, managers, and workers within an organization. If we are well socialized in an organizational culture, we can see why certain people hold the jobs they have within that company. Usually, it is because they have certain special attributes which make them a good “fit” for that job. Therefore, we can attribute the abilities and motives of managers as the reason they have been given (earned?) the jobs which they now have. This perception can be self-fulfilling. That is to say, “the company must know what they’re doing or that person wouldn’t be doing it.” There are also symbols, rituals, and myths which help to explain attributions of...

My student’s husband then called the next day and spoke with my co-worker, Michael, who took all of his information and enrolled him. I received a phone call from my student the next asking why I had told her one thing and Michael had told her husband another. With Michael being new to the job, I thought he made a simple mistake, so I called and left him a voicemail suggesting that we talk about the students to make sure that we were on the same page in what we were telling our students. I then wrote my supervisor an email telling him what I did and said. Michael, upon hearing the message, went to his supervisor because he had the impression that I was trying to take his student from him. His supervisor went to mine asking what was going on. My supervisor explained everything and the matter was resolved. As a result, both the students did not complete the enrollment process or start school. ...director. The participant group was asked to self-report on perceptions of role ambiguity, experienced levels of anger, anxiety and workplace threat appraisal. In this study, participants were asked questions as to whether they fully understood what was expected of them at work on a day-to-day basis regarding particular tasks, or a range of tasks. This data was then compared with responses to questions which probed whether they had felt anxious or angry at work. Threat appraisal was determined by whether the respondent felt it was more or less likely that their work day was going to be a negative experience for them. Dr Searle’s study found statistically significant correlations between a lack of clarity an individual has regarding their job requirements and reported feelings of anger, anxiety and their threat appraisal. These findings reinforce earlier research conducted by Robert Pearsall from the University of Maryland which demonstrated that these increases in anxiety, anger and threat appraisal can...
