After reading “A Long Year”, “Recall”, and the article “After Stevens”, it becomes clear that this distinction fits the subjects of these works aptly. Robert, otherwise known as Bobby, Knight, General Douglas MacArthur, and Justice John Paul Stevens were each long-tenured in their positions and were met with opposition in their ever-changing environments. By exploring their careers, particularly the latter half, it becomes clear that these three individuals were all faced with difficulties, partially due to the dynamic nature of the world, as well as the length of their terms and opinions on how things should be done that clash with colleagues and superiors. Though well respected by the public, these great men were forced to deal with adversity because of their strong convictions. When we’re construing the Constitution, we’re looking at words. Those are the building blocks of the law. Language is vitally important — whether it’s a lawyer arguing a case and trying to explain his position, whether it’s a legislator writing a law, whether it’s a judge trying to construe it. Another point is people develop a lot as a writer the more they read. And so whenever John Roberts has a lot of time to read, he improved a good bit as a writer. Roberts reads a lot, as other people do, of course, in high school and college. And the interesting thing is, people lose a lot of writing ability when they get to law school because you tend to read a lot of stuff that isn’t that well written. And you tend to stop reading other stuff that is well written because you don’t have time. The Focus Salons give their customers expert advice about the Paul Mitchell, Tea Tree, Modern Elixirs hair care lines. It didn’t give much more information than that but I’m assuming that Focus Salons focus on selling retail more than anything. The other type of salon, the Signature Salons carry a higher lever of inventory of Paul Mitchell products than most salons. It said that they’re trained to use and recommend his products, but it is his salon, I wouldn’t use any other product but his. It doesn’t really differentiate the two salons they sound the same to me. Since he ran a school at the Manila Cathedral. his former parish, he deemed it wise to open a Catholic School so that the children of the town could avail of primary education. From charity money and donation, Fr. Tajon was able to maintain the school free of tuition fee but with regularly paid teachers. The pupils were housed in three classrooms made of nipa and wood. The authority held by Catholic priests, nuns, saints, cardinals, and other laity intimidates and inspires those who lack power. The individuals who feel distanced from power in the Catholic Church are the same individuals who are awestruck by the learnedness of the very same people that hold them back. Should those people of power in the Catholic Church be held to such high esteem? As an author, Louise Erdrich enjoys taking a conversational approach to how much the representatives of the church should model virtue.
