“Charm offensive” is a book, which opens our eye about the incredible gains that China has made over the past decade in conquering over the souls of the regimes’ as well as the people around the globe. In this critically important book, the writer talks about an important aspect of China's global rise through its strategic outreach campaign. This book by Joshua Kurlantzick has been published at the perfect time and about an important subject.
Moreover, he also talks about the gap of soft power and effect a helpless United States is leaving. Its been only few years that the world noticed China establishing strong control through long-lasting and committed bureaucratic, economic and even military relations on places where it had no or little impact earlier, most of which are known as developing parts of the world mostly situated in …show more content…
On top of aid and trade, the most important thing that makes them love China is it’s firm honor and consideration for all countries. The author also points out some important things about how China is keeping an eye on American embassies and keeping a track of its actions in that country. He asks United States to return back to it’s cold war anti-USSR tactic by appointing a Foreign Service Officer in most of the Asian and developing countries, but instead of fighting over nuclear power he asks to focus on trade and international public relationships. Therefore, his advice is to staff someone who knows the language of the country he is working in so that he can communicate with a large number of people and not only the English speaking elite people.
