SUMMARIZE THE ARGUMENT
This documentary displays the story of how an innovated activist group turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition. Faced with their own mortality, an unlikely group, called ACT UP, comprised of mostly HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) positive young men and women broke the structure of FDA regulation and challenged Washington and the medical establishment. Even with having no scientific training, these self-made activists pervade the pharmaceutical industry and helped identify promising new drugs. The question being asked by Buchanan to Staley is “What do you recommend young homosexuals?” Staley answers the question by giving honest advice such as using a condom during sexual relations to prevent any infectious. However, Buchanan refuted his argument by refuting something that was not said nor implied. Buchanan’s answer to Staley’s honest response was, “So your saying celibacy is impossible?”. This is not what Staley was arguing or intended to argue in fact his intentions were just to give straight answers and avoid any confusions in his ideas.
