This week was yet another informative week. While I learned much this week there were many concepts and ideas that I was not aware of that I learned in the book. One concept that I learned about was how businesses are protected when conducting international business. The government has these laws in place to protect these businesses and the people who purchase goods from these businesses. Every good that is purchased from another country is brought to the United States either by boat or plane. There are some other ways that products are brought in but those are the two main ways. Either way, a the products are considered to be international transaction because the domestic business is purchasing from the foreign entity. These products are searched and scanned to eliminate illegal products from entering the United States. The government has implemented these search laws to not only protect businesses but also protecting the public from the illegal products. With the onset of globalization, it is important that businesses from the United States are protected. Another concept that I learned about this week was how special property rights are affected during global business. Not all laws that apply to companies in the United States are enforced in other countries. An example is if a business purchases a truck load of lettuce and ships it to another country for resale. The business in the foreign country may never receive the shipment because the government or other group may steal the property. The company that shipped the goods has no insurance on their product and thus their property rights are given up because their product was in a foreign country.
