“Hating people because of their color is wrong and it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It’s just wrong.”. Racism in this country has lately been leading towards politics and sadly the color of people's skin. More NFL players are beginning to stand up for their own beliefs by taking a knee when the National Anthem is played. As this protest was started by Colin Kaepernick, who was the first to kneel. This has lead to more media discussion about racism, all for he didn’t feel as equal to others. Specifically, with Colin Kaepernick’s actions, people began to realize that they felt the same way about racism and equality, which has now turned into a huge discussion across the nation and even in the media's views. Kaepernick has many people that disagree with how he is trying to resolve this racism issue, but however there is still many people that strongly agree with his actions. For example, an ex basketball player Kobe Bryant was asked about his opinion on players kneeling for the National Anthem and what he would do if he was still in a league. As said in the CBSSPORTS article, Jack Maloney mentions that the former NBA player responded, “Kneel , Bryant said during a rapid-fire question…”(qtd. In Maloney). Bryant surprisingly said that he agreed with the actions of the players and stated that if he was still in the NBA he would act in the exact same way as some of the NFL players are acting towards their beliefs. The National Anthem represents our freedom in this nation and also the people who fight for our country, in addition people should not let their beliefs interfere with the Anthem. For example, these people are protesting during the anthem, however the National Anthem still represents freedom and this country still holds that up. As shown in the selection “After Trump Blasts N.F.L.” the authors state “Don’t appled teams and players who don’t respect the anthem, they can exercise their beliefs a different way.”(qtd. in Hoffman, Mather, & Fortin). This shows how players should find a solution to solve their racism issue and not disrespect others and the flag for that reason. Due to this that may lead to fans and sports media to protest their own beliefs in problems they have in this nation. However, players and people are continuing to follow others who are protesting against racism, for their beliefs that they are not treated as equal to as others and will continue to stand up for their
