Group 8 (Kre-8) Social Media to help promote Kara’s Cupcakes Social media is defined as a web and mobile-based technology to help support interactive dialogue and to introduce substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities, and individuals. Social media is also social software, which mediates human communication to a broader audience. When the technologies are in place, social media is ubiquitously accessible, and enabled by scalable communication techniques. Social Media is also known as the democratization of content and a shift in the role that made humans in the process of reading and disseminating information electronically. Social media covers a variety of things that use the Internet to facilitate conversation. Social media is considered as the creation of the foundation that connects people, provide opportunities to produce and share content with others, extract and process the knowledge to the society and share it again. Some popular social media sites that Kara’s Cupcake’s will use are Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Foursquare, YouTube and Others. Mobile social media can also be used on the go when one is not near a personal computer, or laptop. With all the new devices that are arriving at our finger tips, gadgets such as tablets, iPods, phones, and many other new products, there is no use for sitting at home using ones PC. Mobile social media has made other sources of internet browsing obsolete, and allows users to write, respond, and browse in real-time. We will create and implement a new smart phone app that will help registered users locate and find a Kara’s Cupcake mobile truck that is near by, as well inform them with new flavors and on going promotions. Also included in the app will be a “QR” scanner which customers can scan codes on either an on line coupon or on the bottom of the cupcake
