I am writing in response to the letter I received from you regarding absences of my daughter Kat Dudek. I attached your letter to my email.

There are a few things of which I would like to make you aware.
First, all of the absences were due to Kat's sicknesses. Since she was a little child, she has been sick quite a lot. Before Kat was born, I had three miscarriages, including ectopic pregnancy. Kat was conceived right after the surgery during the time when I had to take very strong antibiotics to heal the infected fallopian tube. She is a miracle and the fact that she was born without any defects, is also a miracle. Unfortunately, all the problems that had happened before she was born might have weakened her immune system. When she was 2, she was hospitalized because of the asthma flares, after that she had frequent breathing problems, asthma flairs, and upper respiratory breath infections. She used to miss many days from preschool and kindergarten when we used to live in Poland. Fortunately, the older she has become, the fever asthma flare-ups she has begun to experience. You have to know this: We Polish people value education greatly. My husband is an educated person, and I am a teacher with four university degrees. We also "believe that children need to attend school regularly". I am concerned about my daughter absences, but I am even more concerned about her health. We are responsible parents, and we never let our child go to school with a fever, when displaying symptoms of a sickness, or if they are not fever-free for at least 24 hours. It would be really great if other parent could assume the same amount of responsibility and do not let their children go to school sick because students who are more susceptible to sicknesses, like Kat, catch infections very easily. I think this is something you, as a principal have to take care
