Samantha Keane contacted me stating she needed to start looking for a new position as she could no longer continue to work in such a hostile environment. This is the second-time Sam has made a complaint regarding Katie Mooney’s behavior towards her. She states Katie exhibits passive-aggressive behavior, by purposely leaving her out of conversations, acknowledging other staff members with a greeting by name leaving her out, and by bringing in treats for everyone but Sam.
Today, there was an issue with coverage. When Katie received the denial of coverage for 11/23th, (please see documentation attached) she became frustrated and talked about it with other staff members, including both her own and Sam’s direct report. After our first discussion, things got better, but we have now reverted to square one. After discussing Sam’s concerns, Katie stated there are no behavioral issues and she thinks Sam is just sensitive. I explained how her actions make other people feel and reminded her that this was not our first conversation. I also addressed the fact that she needed to work through the appropriate channels when requesting other manager’s staff to provide coverage etc. Katie showed her frustration about our discussing what she considers a non-issue again. I reminded Katie that as a manager, we expect for her set the tone and act as a mentor to other staff members (e.g.: be professional) at all times. I then proceeded to ask Katie about google chat and was told they use it to keep track of work conversations. I informed her this is not our usual way of keeping track of work-related information and that I would discuss this plus future coverage options with Bob Boland, our Vice Chair of Education when he is back from the
