I define a hard worker as someone who is willing to struggle and work arduously, despite the fact that nobody will notice. In this essay, I will explain not only how I match this description, but also exactly how the Kealing Magnet Program is the optimal place for me to meet my goals, plus how I will contribute to the community in ways outside of academics. Although I have had a great experience at my current school, Austin Home Base, I am ready for something new and even further challenging. I am an active member of my community inside and outside of school, and I am always looking for ways to make my neighborhood and world a better place. I consider myself to be a political activist, as I always stand up for what I believe is right, by signing online petitions, donating to political campaigns, and keeping up with national news and stories. I always try to pick up any trash on the ground, and always help the people around me with whatever they need, whether it is needing the door held, or helping carry belongings. I believe it is the little things in life that make a big difference to others.…show more content… We began our project by thinking up of an idea that could change the future. My group consisted of four people, and we decided to create a rooftop rainwater collector and filterer, which takes water from the roof, takes it through multiple filters, and collects it into a tank. It was affordable, and effective as after we filled our first tank to the top, it measured far cleaner than the tap water at our school. Unfortunately, before we could present our project to the judges, the Christopher Columbus Awards lost its funding, and was forced to terminate the organization.
