...enjoy pregnancy, it can seem like the nine months take forever to come to an end for some people. The nine months of pregnancy are equally divided into three trimesters. Pregnancy, an event of developing a baby, is separated by months and trimesters and is a long, eventful life experience. Months one, two, and three are the first trimester and include weeks one through twelve of a pregnancy. During week one of pregnancy, the egg and sperm join to make a cell called a zygote. The zygote divides multiple times and the bunch of cells move towards the uterus. Then during the second week the dividing zygote, now called a blastocyst, goes into the uterus and burrows into the side of it. During week three, part of the blastocyst will develop into the placenta that will help provide the baby with nutrients. It will also produce a hormone called HCG that will stop the woman’s menstrual period and make the body produce increased levels of estrogen and progesterone hormones that will begin growth of the placenta. The fully formed placenta will be the life support system for the baby (Dattel 13). In week four, the heart and lungs of the baby will begin developing, and the baby will have a heartbeat (14). By week five the baby is approximately 0.5 inches long, and the arms and legs will appear as short stumps. At the time of week six the baby’s heart is beating eighty times per minute. The nose, mouth, and ears are also beginning to form. During week seven, the bones start forming but are...

...ensure success and determination when brainstorming anything. Reflecting back to week one I had to identify what critical thinking was to me and identify the six thinking stages of thinking and I fell into stage two which was the challenged thinker. I put myself into this stage because of how much I didn’t really know about critical thinking and the details it included. After nine weeks of learning about critical thinking and the details that are included, I have been able to move into further stages of critical thinking. In the last nine week’s I have read and understood many significant things about critical thinking. The top three significant things I have taken away from this class are; creative thinking, the role of questioning and criticism, and arguments analysis and evaluation. Creative thinking has taught me how to evaluate strategies to promote creative thinking and curiosity, and how to explain key methods for producing ideas. I am now able to understand different ways of thinking creatively when producing new ideas and presenting them. The role of questioning and criticism has ensured me to explain types of questions that lead to critical thinking, and to apply those strategies to stop criticism in problem solving. After learning about this topic it has ensured me to be more aware of the questioning that leads me into accepting and giving criticism when producing new ideas. My last significant thing I learned during this class was argument analysis and evaluation...

...My Experience Nine weeks I’ve spent in this class, learning new techniques on studying, and learning new critical thinking strategies. Nine weeks that I’ve been in school again thinking and challenging myself and learning about a variety of new things. These last nine weeks have reminded me about the long term effects that higher education will have on my future employment and current job. This class has gave me so many tools that I can use in my everyday life. These last nine weeks have helped me get my mechanics back together academically I would say. I been out of school for about six months and I haven’t been reading, just working since I came out of school. Recently in class I relearned how to take Cornell Style notes, it’s like a lost art nowadays this note taking. My experience in this class was great overall for being my first time taking an online class. I enjoyed my time because with my work schedule always varying, this class came in handy letting me log in at times when other classes are long finished. This specific course was helpful in that it helped me see there’s more ways of doing things and not to worry about stressing yourself out. One of the most important things this class taught me was collaborative learning is an important aspect of life. I say that because every time we comment on things the atmosphere on the forum is good because it seems like we were constantly feeding off each others answers. The posts ...

...Throughout the course of the first nine weeks in Mrs. Theisen's AP English Language and Composition class, my writing has changed dramatically. Towards the start of the year my writing was very weak, yet it has improved towards the start of the second nine weeks. My writing began in this class with bad thesis statements, weak transitions, awkward grammar, and lack of relevant evidence. My writing skills at the beginning of this class started in a rough spot. There are a plethora of examples of how weak my writing was at the beginning of the nine weeks. To begin, my thesis sentences lacked relevance and contained bad grammar - if I had a thesis sentence to begin with. In the very beginning of the year I had no thesis statements in my papers,...

...Over the pass nine weeks I have learn a lot of things that will help through out my college classes at the University of Phoenix. The huge library has made it easy to find resources for assessments. Instead of going else where for help I will use the library first. I have found it hard to stay motivated for my classes and in some cases I have forced myself to do work. I have been good with keeping focused for the last few weeks by just working on a schedule that works with my free time and I have kept reminding myself about the light at end of the tunnel. These two things have made it real easy to stay motivated and get my work in on time. Some I learn and love about this university is that we only take classes that have to do with our career. It was one of the reason why I wanted to go to college here and I didn’t see the point of going to schools that made you take classes that had nothing to do with your major. I think this alone will helps us be more prepare when we go into to the career of our choosing. I have already use the learning goals to keep me motivated and focus on my school work. If you can put something of meaning at the finish line then your going to fight harder to reach that goal. I have always used goals to complete something and I was glad to see the university offers something like that. I have always take time to reach decisions and its one thing I still do. The last thing I want to do is to put myself into a bad situation by jumping into something without...

...By taking these first steps towards college life and a college degree I have learned a lot about myself. By going through these past nine weeks learning about time management, critical thinking and setting goals. By me completing my degree I will have gained new experience, different point of views and a better chance to get a new job. By taking the tools I have learned I will be able to accomplish my degree in management. By setting goals throughout these past nine weeks I have had the chance to see how things work well. I started the course off without setting any goals on when class work needed to be done by or turned in. Throughout the course I set goals for myself to have things done at a certain time. Even though I set the goals for a certain time I did another change. This time I looked at my time management as well. By changing my time on when I did my work helped me improve my goals. My work use to be done from Thursday to Sunday. This was not a successful time use for me. Granted there are things that dictate on how much time and when I got something’s done. By taking a look back and seeing that half way through this was not going to work. It was time to make a change. This change came in the format of doing some work during the week. Rather than waiting until the last half of the week. This change also affected the goal settings. Goals changed to completing a certain assignment on this day and this assignment the next. Critical thinking went...

...Have you ever heard of the chicken or pig breakfast commitment analogy? Well evidently there is one, it talks about a breakfast of ham and eggs, and which animal has made the biggest commitment to the meal. You could say the chicken because it loses all its eggs and possibly one of its children, but doesn’t die or you could state the pig as having the bigger commitment because it has to die to make the breakfast. I’ve been told to use the pig as the one with the bigger commitment and the chicken as the smaller commitment. I have also been told to have the first paragraph about my commitment to school. So my first paragraph will be about how I am a pig in terms of my commitment to school. Then my second paragraph will be about how I am a chicken...

They were able to become comfortable in the water as well. The program was divided into two, ten week sections and a one week transition period. One of the ten week programs was a control week. The next ten week program was the water exercise swimming program. During the water exercise swimming program, they completed floor activities which lasted twenty minutes, one-to-two instruction which lasted forty minutes, group activities which lasted twenty minutes, and cool down activities which lasted ten minutes. The floor activities were warm up exercises that got participants ready for the next activity. The one-to-two instruction was one instructor to two children. This promoted social skills and skills relating to swimming. According to Chien-Yu, this was the most helpful way for instructors and students to interact. It was a way for the kids to participant and learn at their own pace. The group activities and games were a way for all kids to get to know one another and further...

...single sperm penetrates it during fertilization. When the sperm penetrates the egg, changes occur in the protein coating around it to avoid other sperm from entering and pregnancy occurs. A normal pregnancy will last nine months. During this time frame prenatal development occurs. Prenatal development can be broken down into the germinal period, embryonic period, and fetal period while others may divide the pregnancy into first trimester, second trimester, and third trimester. The first three months are known as the first trimester, while the second three months are known as the second trimester and the last three months are known as the third trimester. The germinal period consists of the first two weeks of a pregnancy. Germinal period begins when the zygote enters the uterus and begins to undergo mitosis and implantation. Then, the cell divides into inner and outer regions which creates the placenta and the nucleus. The embryonic stage is the gestation period that lasts from the second week of pregnancy to the eighth week. The cells become an embryo during this period. All of the major body parts, body systems and organs are formed during the embryonic period except the sex organs. ...What Kind of Thinker Are You? Can you come up with the correct answer or solution? In this course ( HUM/111- Critical and Creative Thinking) will help you. Since I started this course in December 2012, nine weeks ago this course has helped me become a critical thinker. I have learned what is critical thinking, I can tell you the most significant things I learned about critical thinking and how my critical thinking has changed since this course, and I can reevaluate my stage of development in critical thinking, explain to you why this change has occurred, and how I plan to move from stage five: Advanced thinking to stage 6: Master Thinking. First week we learned, what is critical thinking? Critical thinking is a mental process of reviewing clear, rational thoughts based on evidence to reach an answer or conclusion. Critical thinking helps you distinguish between fact and opinion, ask questions, make detailed observations, uncover assumptions and define their terms and make assertions based on sound logic and solid evidence. Next thing, I can tell you the most significant things I have learned about critical thinking and how my critical thinking has changed since this course. The most significant things that I have learned about critical thinking, that critical thinking is based on concepts and principles, not on hard and fast, or step- by- step procedures. Critical thinking does not assure that one will reach either the truth or correct conclusions. Critical thinking...

...My Tutoring Experience Using the Fundamentals Reading Program Shaundra Cartwright EDU: Phonics Based Reading and Decoding Instructor Jennifer Hanson October 22, 2013 In our second week of class we are asked to choose a student to tutor with the Fundamentals Reading Program. We are asked to pick a student from age’s five to seven and only one student. The Fundamentals Reading program is an intensive systematic phonics learn to read program that will improve comprehension, spelling and a child’s penmanship. This program is well-suited for absolutely every age group and it is an effective solution for any reading problem (actionreading.com). Formulated for use with learners from preschool through adult ages, this program is the key to learning to read the English language in a much easier way. Children struggle with comprehension the most and this program helps to build on being able to understand what you are reading. Our students that we will be tutoring should go from knowing little to nothing about reading to being more knowledgeable and finally able to hold their own in the classroom. Since I have been a substitute teacher at my daughter’s school for the past two years, I reached out to my friends there for a student to tutor. I let them know I wanted to tutor a student they had who had trouble with learning to read and write so they could really benefit from being tutored. My student’s name is...
