Active vs Reflective
In this category, I scored a 5 for active. This means that I have moderate preference for active learning. Active learners tend to want to discuss a topic of manipulate objects in order to understand something. I feel that this applies to me very well. For me to learn something properly, I need to have hands-on experience that will help me understand. This, however, can be a drawback when I need to evaluate and analyze information. I may find this difficult to do, but if I can find a way to apply the information to real life events or something I have encountered before, I will be able to comprehend it effectively. It is recommended that I study in a group setting so I can get the most out …show more content…
Although I am well balanced between the two, I lean more towards intuitive. This type of learning includes discovering relationships and conceptual, theoretical information that gives a larger meaning. Sensing learners like facts and concrete instruction. I think this result is accurate. I can see how both intuitive and sensing learning apply to me; in certain subjects like math and science I prefer to do things the same way every time and to have information presented to me in a practical way. But when I learn information in history or psychology, I am able to see connections to other topics and think about the bigger picture. It makes sense that I lean more towards intuitive because I am not very good at memorizing facts. I believe it would be beneficial for me to slow down when I am faced with a problem and think about how to find the solution. I have a decent balance between both of them, though. I can see both dimensions in the way I learn different information. For example, when I am analyzing and proving the theme of something, I tend to start with the theme and work backwards, indicating a global learning approach. However, in most other subjects. I work better when I start at the basics and work my way up to the complicated parts. Typically, I understand a concept at the very end when everything is finally put together. If I need, I can ask my instructor to fill in any steps he/she skipped or did not mention so I can picture how it all comes together with every step incorporated. To improve my global thinking skills, I will try to relate the topic to something I already know well in order to understand it in a deeper
