...WORK HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS 2011 30/Jul/2013 Q: Identify which of the regulations relate to children services and how you would recommend implementing it in the workplace/facility. 4.1 NOISE 56) Meaning of “exposure standard for noise” and 57) Managing risk of hearing loss from noise – talks about the standard level of decibels that would prevent a worker within/in the workplace from suffering from any ear and hearing damage or injury. As well as informing that the boss of the business or person in charge has to make sure that all the workers are not to be exposed to any noise above the standard level. 58) Audiometric testing and 59) Duties of Designers, Manufacturers, Importers and suppliers of plant (1) Talks about the manager or the head of the area to ensure that all workers and employees have to wear or use the appropriate PPE to protect them from hearing loss because they’re working in an environment that exceeds the standard decibel level, so the equipment will just help minimise the noise. (2) The person in charge of the business on top of providing the PPE for the employees must also provide audiometric testing for each worker. This has to be done within 3 months of the worker beginning the work and also every 2 years. The maximum penalty for – an individual is: $6000 – body corporate: 30 000 * E.g in a childcare service workplace- I would probably in case of any noise that happens around the location, would ensure that the doors are sound...

...MEDICALSILICONE TAPE | SS250-02 THE TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION | 5/7/2015 INVENTION | KATHERINE C. HEASLEY | INTRODUCTION In recent months I have undergone several medical surgeries’ in which I had to rip off and reapply medical tape over and over again. Which in turn cause me to have tearing of my skin and the pain in removal were excruciating. In which lead me to believe that there could be a better medical tape on the market that could help others not only myself. My invention would advance the wound and care industry, by using the silicone with a new, silicone based adhesive tape that provides an optimal balance of securement and gentleness when, applying and with removal. The silicone base tape is easy to use and satisfies long –unmet needs for physician and patients seeking a reliable adhesion and a gentle removal. In which minimizes the risk of injury to a person skin from repeated bandage change. DISCRIPTION The silicone tape with vary in size from 1 inch to 3 inches. The color will be a standard white color. The tape will wrapped around a cardboard roll that will be able to pulled to select the length in which a person needs to cover the bandage. Research of the effects of Traditional tape vs. Silicone tape Unlike traditional tape that increases adhesion over time, silicone tape delivers constant adhesive strength for as long as it’s left in place. ...FINANCE AND FINANCIAL MARKETS 3,6 Types of financial intermediaries Financial institutions are like most other businesses in that they exist to make a profit and this is maximized by minimizing their costs and maximizing their revenue. Like most firms they can only survive if they design and sell products and services that can meet demand at a reasonable profit level. We now proceed to look at some of the key types of financial institutions that are involved in the process of financial intermediation; that is, the transfer of funds between surplus and deficit agents. We distinguish between deposit-accepting institutions, such as banks and savings institutions, and other types of financial intermediaries, such as insurance companies, mutual funds/unit trusts, pension funds, hedge funds and private equity and the like. 3.7 deposit institution an institution such as a bank or savings institution that accepts cash deposits Deposit institutions Deposit institutions accept deposits from economic agents. These funds become their liabilities which they then on-lend to make direct loans or investments, which become their assets. Deposit-taking institutions aim to make a profit in the way of 'spread income' between the cost of the deposits that they accept and other sources of funding, and the return that they receive on their investment portfolio in the way of loans, equity stakes and other investments. Examples of deposit institutions include commercial banks,...

...life Name Professor Course Title Date Assignment Chapter 16- Balancing Competing Demands of Work and Family The main focus of the chapter is the competing demands of paid work and family as single parenthood and dual-earner families replace the traditional family where the husband was the breadwinner while the wife was the homemaker. The competing demands of work and family are childcare, taking care of elderly parents, and the burden of being a single-parent. The chapter also looks at how the government can intervene to help workers balance the demands of work and family. The government reviews family friendly policies such as child care, family and medical leaves, and alternative work schedules. The Competing Demands of Work and Family Both two-earner and single-parent families are faced by conflicts in trying to balance the demands at work and family level. These demands include taking care of small children and elderly family members, and a host of other family obligations. Women that are employed and have families find it difficult to balance the demands because they have family obligations to honor before and after work. Women do more housework than men thus reducing their wages because of decreased time and energy for work. Women’s time is also consumed taking care of the elderly because the responsibility lies mostly in their part. In the U.S, the population of persons aged over 65 is expected to increase by 100 % by 2020 therefore placing more burdens on women...

...APPLICATION OF CHEMICAL SENSORS IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING A chemical sensor is a device that transforms chemical information, ranging from the concentration of a specific sample component to total composition analysis, into an analytically useful signal. The chemical information, mentioned above, may originate from a chemical reaction of the analyte or from a physical property of the system investigated. Chemical sensors its application in various fields of engineering like civil, environment, medical, biotechnology and mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It implements core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transportsystems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more. There are a lot of potential areas where chemical sensors play a key role in innumerable processes concerning to functioning and safety in manufacturing plants , transport, aerospace, automobiles , combustion engines which are a few applications of mechanical engineering concepts.
