History demonstrates how Indentured Servants and Slaves were two different group of people during 1600-1700. Indentured Servants were people who signed a contract to travel to the New World in order to find a better life. Indentured Servants did not have a lot of resources to progress in their homeland; therefore, signing a contract to work up to seven years for their contractor was the best option for them (Notes Ackerman). An Indentured Servant was working-up to receive the freedom to live in the New World. On the other hand, a Slave was an individual who work for their masters for the rest of their lives.
