Although we know time has been 24 hours a day for 365 days a year it wasn't the same throughout ancient times.Most people throughout time depended on the stars in the sky, others believed that the stars were somehow connected to there believes such as there gods or their culture system.Throughout the years, people began to learn about astronomy which caused a major change in all calendars depending on the time zone.
One of the earliest group of people that we have recorded is the Egyptians. The Egyptians calendar first began to be based on the moon cycles but they later realized that the " Dog Star" was next to the sun every 365 days.(Doc 1 pg.52) Which they believed was the annual inundation of the Nile which was one of their cultural beliefs. This Means that they used their culture in combination with the sun and moon which they called the annual inundation of the Nile which became part of their culture.…show more content… They used this method to establish not only one but two new calendars which consisted of a 260 and 365-day calendars.The Mayans because of their discovery believed the creation of the world occurred in 3114 bc.(Doc 1 pg.53). which became part of their culture.This means that they used their cultural beliefs to combine the creation of the world with the planet Venus and the calendar itself and put a date on the day of the creation.
The Gregorian calendar was a mess due to the mistake made by the Julian calendar which 365 1/4 days long which was wrong because it passed the daily limit by 11 minutes.(Doc 2 pg.54) The impact grew bigger each time it went on until the realized that the days had already grown by 10 extra days.The calendar was later changed by Pope Gregory by the first astronomer and mathematician which concluded the final detail of the calendar.This means that the people used their lives in the pope by believing that astronomy was the way to fix this by the way the stars
