Jason’s hubris had lead to his downfall in the play. Jason had excessive pride in himself he does not understand how Medea would be affected by his unfaithfulness. It is obvious that Jason does not care for Medea and their children, leaving them for the princess. “Now you have loving words, now kisses for them: then you disowned them, sent them them to exile.”(14005-14006) As a result of his hubris, Medea leaves him with nothing, leading to his downfall. He is left with no royalty and no children.
Medea’s hubris lead to her downfall as well. Her excessive pride is what caused her to be so enraged with Jason; she did not want to be humiliated or betrayed by him. Her hubris is enormous that she does not care whose lives she has to take for her
