...Cultural Influences on Health Grand Canyon University Family Centered Health Promotion NRS-429V October 15, 2015 Cultural Influences on Health The heritage assessment is useful and gives the health care professional a detailed picture of how cultural differences influence health. The three individuals that were interviewed place importance on the cohesiveness on their families in health and illness. The family influences from the older members in their cultures place importance on folk medicine. When a member of the family is ill, they apply their faith and pray for that person. They value their religious belief in curing an illness with modern medicine. The food preferences varied somewhat from the different cultures however, pastries were common at cultural celebrations (Heritage Assessment Tool, 2015). It is evident that is important to be culturally competent before assessing a patient. It removes biases about a culture and the health care professional is culturally sensitive to give effective quality care and education. Polish Culture A large percentage of Poland’s population practices the Roman Catholicism religion. There is an order of priests, monks and nuns in the Roman Catholic Church. Rituals are part of the Catholic Church’s religious services. They encourage the continuation of folk culture like roadside shrines that are built and maintained by the community. There are yearly pilgrimages to these shrines such as Lankorona. On February 2 of each year...

This is the reason for which we should do our best to manage as good as possible for higher quality and continuous improvement. This paper presents Romanian payment and compensation system in comparison with some other countries’ systems and ways to improving quality of health services. Nursing care and...

...has been pressured to feel threatened by people outside of the culture. But today, more gypsies are speaking up so the rest of the world can understand and appreciate their culture. TV shows like "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" also aim to let us take a peek at their contemporary lives. Gypsies have been harassed and persecuted throughout their history of existence, but many people don't know the Turks specifically executed gypsies during World War I, while Hitler wiped out more than 1 million during World War II. During WWII, not only were gypsies killed, they were also subject to medical experiments. Those still alive in concentration camps were often blamed for crimes committed by others. Although society has changed dramatically the history of un-fair treatment still stands as a fear to many members of the Gypsy culture. "Gypsy" derives from Egyptian, so it is mistaken that Gypsies are from Egypt or Romania. Not so. Research shows ethnic gypsies came from a group of diverse military people who gathered centuries ago in northern India to fight Muslim invaders and to resist the eastward movement of Islam. Eventually they split into smaller groups...

Starting from single scenarios for fertility, mortality and economic activity, three sets of assumptions are explored regarding migration flows, taking into account probable policy developments in Europe following the enlargement of the EU. In addition to age structures, various support ratio indicators are analysed. The results indicate that plausible immigration cannot offset the negative effects of population and labour force ageing.
