...Even though they were not part of these battles, they were greatly impacted by them. General Lee and Coronal Glover was present at the Black Horse Tavern in Menotomy on April 18, 1775. This was a meeting between them and other key revolutionary leaders like Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and many others. The two Marblehead militia leaders decided to spend the night, however they were forced to leave in their bed clothes in the early morning hours of the 19th due to the British’s plans of searching the tavern.
