Human resource management is best described as the act of acquiring, developing and maintaining employees “to achieve the goals of the goals of an organization in an effective and efficient manner.” (Sadhuji, 2008). HRM achieves this through several forms of employee appreciation, including compensation, health benefits, and promotions. However, the benefits that a company offers can mean the difference between having a devoted employee and one who will be willing to leave once a better opportunity arrives. A sound compensation package is often more attractive than a high paying salary. HRM needs to apply the needs of the employees and analyze how it will also benefit the organization. Basic benefits such as health, vision and dental benefits, or 401K matching are no longer the only benefits that keep employees content, and this can affect their productivity. By structuring a benefits program that goes beyond basic needs, such as Zappos.com’s on-site healthcare, employees will feel more like assets instead of just workers. JVA corporation will save almost 2% to 3% part of their net income that is spent on perks and other amenities. It may affect to employees as they will suffer from raises and other incentives but they will get benefit too as JVA will not lay out of current workers. The implementation of new strategy can affect JVA corp. due to lack of incentives or raises because it can discourage to employees and their productivity and motivation may get low. I currently hold an operations role and searching for “Operations Manager” was relatively easy on O*NET. “The O&NET program is the nation’s primary source of occupational information and it contains information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors” (O*NET, n.d.). Once a person familiarizes with the O*NET Content Model, which is its conceptual foundation, the search engines become easy to understand. The top two search returns for me included Wind Energy Operations Manages and General & Operations Managers. Interesting fact emerged by reviewing both that gave good representation of skills, overall knowledge, abilities and work activities necessary to be successful in these roles that correspond to my experience with what the role demands in my current work environment. For operations type of positions it is imperative to be able to work independently, be initiative, rely heavily on analytical thinking and have the leadership skills that take charge and can motivate other team members.
