4. Section 3: Projects
In the following report our team has identified and recorded a vast range of general knowledge on projects that have already been started or fully executed in Africa. The projects our team has selected are projects focused on the region that we determined would be a successful region in Forcier Consulting’s Expansion.
Project 1:
The first main project our team identified was a project called “Integrated Approach to MNCH (Maternal, New-born and Child Health) in Rural Ethiopia”. This projects title provides a clear statement of what the hosting organizations goal is, but further details are important, so our team looked to Global Canada Affairs for the specifics. Our team’s research lead us to Global Canada Affairs because the primary source of funding for this project was the Canadian government’s Department of Global Affairs or GAC (GAC, 2016). Focused on Health the organization funded to execute this project was “Save the Children Canada” receiving funds of roughly 30 million dollars to fit there estimated project budget (GAC, 2016). Starting on the 21st of January in 2016 this project is supposed to come to an end on the 30th of June in 2020 (GAC, 2016).
Project 2:
The second project our team identified and recorded information on was a project titled “Agricultural Transformation through Stronger Vocational Education” and again the projects title speaks for itself. This particular project was funded by the government of Canada as well, but by a different department. It was funded by Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development or DFATD (GAC, 2016). The following are the “Implementing Organizations” for this project: Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture in collaboration with McGill University, the Mennonite Economic Development Associates in Canada and with Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Ethiopia (GAC, 2016). Listed under the Sector, Private Sector Development, these implementing organizations have an estimated project budget of about 18 million to finish this project on the 31st of December in 2018 that they started on March 3rd in 2014 (GAC, 2016).
Project 3:
The third project our team identified and analyzed was a project called “UK Aid in Ethiopia” which was a project executed in 2013 by the Department for International Development (DfID), specializing in the sectors: official development assistance (ODA), education, poverty hunger and vulnerability, governance and security, water and sanitation, wealth creation, other health and other MDG’s. This project was launched with an estimated project budget of 13.7 billion USD, or 8.57 billion GBP (being 0.7% of gross-national income).
Project 4:
The fourth project our team looked into was a project called “Food Self –Sufficiency for Farmers” also funded by the Canadian government (GAC, 2016). The department within the Canadian government funding this project was the Canadian International Development Agency or CIDA, and this department offered somewhere around 12.5 million to the hired executing agencies, specializing in Private Sector Development, being CARE Canada and CARE Ethiopia to fit the estimated project budget (GAC, 2016). They started this project on the 8th of May in 2013 and they have provided an expected timeline, estimating the 29th of June in 2018 to be the end of this project (GAC, 2016).
Project 5:
Lastly our team looked at a project titled “Livestock and Irrigation Value Chains for Ethiopia Smallholders” being funded by a department of the Canadian government as well (GAC, 2016). Like the 4th project our team looked at, this project was also funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) (GAC, 2016). CIDA provided the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) with about $19,858,284 which was the estimated project budget (GAC, 2016). The agency determined the starting date being March 23rd 2012 and the estimated ending day being the 30th of June 2017 (GAC, 2016).

Database of potential candidates
Recruitment is simple. With technology’s growth the best way to recruit or seek out candidates is through online sources. In a case like Forcier’s where operations are in a global market this is most definitely a benefit to utilize because instead of trying to find the perfect strategy in the perfect place or instead of running around the globe in search of consultants, Forcier can simply operate from the home office and in the case of a good potential candidate they can host Skype interviews if necessary. Also this approach almost 100% eliminates recruitment cost. Therefore I have identified 3 strong candidates using LinkedIn. Number three is looking like the strongest candidate, which is why he is stared. 1. * Name and age: Private * Sex: Female * Degrees attained and from which universities: Unknown * Sectors of specialization (health, conflict, media, etc.): Program Coordinator and International Affairs * Contact information: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=ADEAAAJOMbYBAP_GwGWDqbG_gYCKixCerykCK9I&authType=OUT_OF_NETWORK&authToken=ARSq&locale=en_US&srchid=4754643011460042069986&srchindex=2&srchtotal=4703&trk=vsrp_people_res_name_headless&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A4754643011460042069986%2CVSRPtargetId%3A38678966%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary%2CVSRPnm%3Afalse%2CauthType%3AOUT_OF_NETWORK * Organizations worked for: World Bank (Sector Manager) * Languages spoken: English and possibly Amharic and Arabic * Years spent working in country: Unknown but has worked in Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan (Located in Washington D.C.
