Abstract On the one hand, we live in the technical world, which is my major at university where I learned a lot about technology. In my opinion, I believe that technology relates to every area. On the other hand, one of the specific areas that plays an important role in the country is military. The question is “does increasing military technology make us safer?” If so, how is military affected by technology, or the other way around. Therefore, some countries improve their military to their own purpose. In my paper, I want to let people know that military power is the most important sector in any country to live safer. In addition, the country should support the military financially. The strong military technology any country has, the safer the country will be internal and external affairs. In the future, people may understand why these massive developments in the military are important and they will be proud when they have a strong military.

Introduction Allen West, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, said that “We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we have 'guardians at the gate.'”. Through methods of weaponization armies have been changed but the objective remains to protect the land and be strong to fight in warfare. Before a thousand years, armies fought with each other in the battlefield and the distance between fighters was about 100 yards. At that time, they used to arm themselves with knifes, swords, spears, and shields to protect themselves. When the Greeks, Romans, and Chinese used the catapult in siege warfare, it was an invaluable weapon at that time. During the Middle Ages, the Europeans developed the catapult to increase range and reach a long-distance. Over time, weapons have evolved and every country has wanted their military to be sophisticated. Beginning at World War I and II passing through the Cold War, warfare has transformed from using simple weapons such as firearms to advanced weapons such as military aviation, tanks, and warships. Warfare takes place at land, sea, and air, which make the battlefield more complex than before. Military equipment has totally changed from what it was before. Military Technology: Nowadays, scientists and technical development are necessary to make the military strong. Technology impacts and plays an important role in the military. Because of that, we have military technology, which is using the technology revelation to improve the military preparation. There are various types of military technology, for example, vehicles and transports, robots, sensors and communications. As we know, technology is growing and military weapons that some countries have are advanced and powerful. So, to what extent does technology affect the military. And why should countries be technically well developed?
While some people believe that using technology in the military should be limited, increasing military technology makes the public feel safer, combats terrorism, and minimizes the loss of human life.
Protect the Country : One of the important sectors that any government should focus on is to improve military technology to protect its country. In the other words, the more military technology a government has , the safer the public feels. Because of the technical and industrial revolution, countries became armed to avoid being attacked by any enemy. Every country wants to be ready if there is any warfare or attack from any other country. If you have a strong military, your enemy will be afraid to fight you. In his article Wired for war: military technology and the politics of fear (2004), Kundnani says that because of the new threats around the world, the revolution in military affairs, which is the application of technology for military advantage is excused. In fact, If the military development is widespread in all countries of the world, any country should keep pace with revolutions in military to protect citizens. Keeping abreast of developments, especially in the military, is one of the important reasons to deter enemy invasion. Opponents might try to argue that we will not live in peace when military technology is still increasing . However, what if the enemy wants to destroy or take over land. How can the government protect its country and keep their citizens peaceful ? According to Barton Kunst in Extreme Asymmetric Warfare of the Future (2011),the destructive power is not our purpose but we have to confront it and neutralize the enemy. In addition, when the country tries to use advanced weaponry, it does not mean that it wants to damage and use it badly. One of the duties of the country is to strengthen its military by using the latest technologies. Deterring the enemy is necessary to make the country safer.
Terrorism:
The main reason that makes countries have to have advanced weapons is the existence of a common enemy among all countries, which is terrorism. First of all, no matter what terrorism means , terrorism is not rooted in a religion, which means it has nothing to do with religion. In addition, terrorism is rejected by all countries, and all countries fight against terrorists. In this case, even if some countries have different political orientations, they should work together against the terrorism . Gawdat (2004) states [in his article Saudi Arabia and the War on Terrorism] that although there are differences between political system in United states, which has democracy that does not depend on church, and Saudi Arabia that has a royal family and derives laws from Quran or religion, they work together against terrorism . And he describes that partnership as “arranged marriage than a romantic union”. In fact, when any country knows that it will be affected by terrorism, it will work international to take advantage of the capabilities of other countries. US-Saudi relations help them to overcome crisis that are made by terrorist groups. Despite the substantial differences between the two counties, they need each other to fight terrorism. since the last decade, our world has been affected by terrorism that uses technology in their own way. For example, September 11, when terrorists used flight 175 to target the World Trade Center. Terrorists had the possibility to use airplanes and break through U.S. protection. This shows hostility with unexpected technical progress may cost the country human casualties and financial losses. Unfortunately, they used technology in a bad way. On the other hand, technological advances helped the U.S government to investigate terrorists. In this electronic age, governments can use electronic evidence to prove a crime. So, for the prevention of that, countries should be ready to deter and stop it. Some people say that increasing military causes us to lose our privacy. It is true that through technology, the government can browse and spy on every person inside the country. However, when the government knows that it will be targeted by extremist group, it should focus its surveillance to protect the public. Using technology in the military helps the country to differentiate between what is peaceful and what is terrorist . One of the important ways to trace and prevent terrorism is to support the military by using new technology. Fighting against terrorism needs more technology than the terrorist organization has. As a good example, the Ministry of Interior Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established the Security Council Counter-Terrorism. Security professionals exchange information with other countries to prevent terror attacks and track terror financing. Saudi Arabia has suffered from terrorism, which has become a global phenomenon. The Saudi government was not handcuffed when it was targeted by terrorists. The Ministry of Interior Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by Prince Mohammed bin Nayef formed a military force equipped with modern intelligence services. The Ministry of Interior Kingdom of Saudi Arabia writes that in the past, the kingdom has suffered from terrorist attacks. As a result, the kingdom has taking some measures and actions anti terrorism. And the most important action was arms embargo against terrorism by updating and inventing many security devices to comate terrorism. furthermore, using advance technology was the main factor that the Saudi government used in fight against terrorism. The elimination of terrorism depends not only on conventional arms which any military has, but also on technical abilities that help the government to secure the country. http://www.moi.gov.sa/
Civilian casualties: Critics of increasing military technology argue that using such advanced technology in a military causes human casualties. However, with the evolution of weapons technology, robots are used instead of soldiers in war. It is better if the robot plays their soldier role. In addition, using aerial drones in war could help solders guide it either to shoot or locate the enemy. These kinds of military productions will be controlled by human armies. For example, because of roadside bombs, some militaries use robots to fight and locate bombs. Robots have many shapes that depend on their function. Some robots have navigation to determine locations , it also works in difficult terrain. There are also flying robots that look like a small plane. These kinks of robots don’t do the function on their own ,but there some sophisticated robots that built to make decision on its own. The main purpose of robots is for doing a soldier’s work on the battlefield. There is a possibility to lose a robot but at the same time, protecting the life of the soldier is the purpose. In short , sometimes, in the dangerous situation before soldiers try to break into enemy or criminals place, they use a special robot to explore and scan the target area . A lot of countries continue to advocate more to use of all kinds robots to minimize the loss of human life and help them in some tasks. Advances in technology have improved the soldiers’ life and help the military to facilitate the work of soldiers and protect them. Nowadays, scientists and engineers are important to invent robots and vehicles for dangerous tasks that put the soldier in the risk. Moreover, the robot might do some tasks that are impossible to human. [In their book ,”System Engineering”] Giachetti, Marcelli, and Cifuentes (2013) mention that in the future robots will be formed to enter inside small crevices inaccessible to human ,and doing tasks that are difficult , risky, and pose threat to human members. There is another type of robot can be assigned tasks to rescue solider. In the other words, not only robot benefits confined to what the soldier is doing and replaced him, but also save the soldier and help him when he wants saver. When the technology helps the military to do advanced functions by using some devices, human casualties decrease and the solder can be spared. The country may lose huge amount of money for the development of military technology. But as we know that once the country promotes the military front, it achieves both the internal and the external security. Moreover, citizens will be protected and live in safety. According to statistics, in 2012, Global military expenditure has reached $1.756 trillion. 39 percent of the world total which presents 682 trillion is responsible for The U.S. The second country is China by 9.4 percent of world share, distantly followed by the China , Russia, UK , and Japan. As a result of increasing of military expenditure, America is considered the largest country spends the largest sums in military and it has the best military in the world. What made America at the forefront are the technological development in weapons and vehicles such as aircrafts, Warships, and watercrafts. According to Anup Shah (2013), [ “ World Military Spending”,] states that a large gap between countries to be ready and located for military means made these countries to provide security and maintain the global and regional power. In addition, the military advances made these countries capable of protect the homeland Security and resolve internal issues. Countries need to secure them military and then other sectors will be able to grow.
Conclusion
Even though some people do not agree with increasing military technology, there are numerous benefits of military technology. It makes the public feel safer by protecting the country, combats terrorism by surveillance, and minimizes the loss of human by using machines such as robots instead of soldiers. Military technology helps the country to impose its power against its enemies. Moreover, whatever the military budget is , saving citizens’ lives is priceless. Because of technologization, any country should possess scientists and engineers in military to improve weapons and defense force. In general, when the resident knows that the military force capable of protection, he will be proud of his country and he will feel safer.

There is inescapable fact in our world, which is every country is trying to be the strongest through military capability. Not because the country is not looking for peace, but because of the survival of the strongest. When the country has the power, not only can it protect its borders, but it also can protect other vulnerable countries that need help.

History of Military Technology

...Transformations of Military Technology Transformations of Military Technology The military is armed forces authorized to use lethal force, and weapons, to support the interest of the citizens, and the profession of soldiering goes many years back. The military’s primary reason of existing is to engage in combat and be victorious. This is the primary focus for all military throughout history. Tactics and methods are used for engaging and defeating the enemy in direct combat. However the soldiers and armies have come a long way from the spear, or the bow and arrow. The innovations along with changes in tactics and strategies were crucial to the evolution of warfare. In the middle ages the army, air force, marines, national guards, and navy did not exist. Medieval knights were the middle ages military. Knighthood was awarded to members of nobility. Normally a man must have been born the son of a knight in order to become one. At the age of seven or eight, a young knight would be sent away from home to begin formal knight training, in preparation to dominate the medieval battlefield. In this training, the most commonly used weapons for war were swords and the lance; by horseback riding knights wearing body-covering armor. In addition, the knights were taught to use a wide range of weaponry, from simple tools and farm implements to sophisticated acts of surrounding and attacking the enemy, for capture. Wounds inflicted on the battlefield were usually cuts to arms, legs and scalp;...

Future Technology in the Military

...Ten years ago the United States of America would have had been considered the most powerful military in the world. Unfortunately, there are terrorist’s that believe that the U.S. military is not. With the recent attack that brought down the “Twin Towers”, American people have been pondering the strength of the military as well. The U.S. military has to surpass all countries in research and development. By doing that, the U.S. will make itself the most superior military force in the world. The most devastating aspect of the battlefield is death. Recent wars have proven this but it seems as time goes by the death toll does as well. There is currently a variety of research and development underway to lower this right now. One of them is called the “Radar Scope”, which gives a soldier the ability to see through walls. DARPA expects the scope to be sent to squads conducting building searches. The device has the capability to sense movements, even breathing, through 12 inches of concrete and 50 feet further into room. This device alone will cut back on deaths with the advantage of knowing where people the door is broke down. An even more advanced version of this device is in the making. It is called the “Visi Building” and it will be able to actually see through many walls to give of location of people as well as objects. Visi Building will improve surveillance by allowing people to drive or fly by to see inside. Even though the Visi Building is years away from use...

Military Technology & the Nature of Warfare

...MILITARY TECHNOLOGY & THE NATURE OF WARFARE 1815 - 1945 With both the World Wars in the twentieth century, conflicts arose that had become somewhat inevitable, yet the nature of which were undoubtedly total wars that had not been anticipated. However, with military technology extending the boundaries of warfare, such conflicts fought on such an unprecedented and devastating scale had been threatening throughout the latter part of the 19th Century. This period was littered with strife, characterized by the American Civil War, The Boer War and the Russo-Japanese War whereby the major powers had demonstrated their threatening capabilities. These bloody conflicts were all typical of 19th century warfare. They were classified in a transitional period between the Napoleonic conflicts of the 18th Century and the total warfare of the 20th Century, in which armies across the globe witnessed an evolution in the nature of warfare. For many, this evolution had been founded upon the transformations in military technology. Furthermore, between 1815-1945, mass industrialization supplemented an ever-changing school of thought surrounding warfare and the deferrals of such conflicts to settle a fraught European Balance of Power created a developing uneasiness between the misunderstandings of modern warfare and capabilities in reality. The consequence was bitter periods of conflict where ad-libbing attempted to allow...

...The military worked best off of knowledge and technology. There was training conducted daily to get the job done and giving the other members that was flying the aircrafts the ability to complete their missions. With knowledge there was very little room for error and with the technology inside the aircrafts; the pilots never had problems when it comes to getting every mission done. There was one thing that the military lacked and that was physical assets to the parts or personnel that is needed to get the job done quicker. Knowledge means acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation (Dictionary,2011). This means in the military there are ways that every individual gain the knowledge to work in the field that are in on active duty. Each and every command in the United States Navy have to conduct on the job training daily and training from the book twice a week. The way they conducted that when it comes to be book training is to get a member of the lower paygrade to do the research and come up with a plan to train everybody else n the shop. By doing this it helps the individual to utilize the book and know where he got that information just in case they come across a problem. With the on the job training they can see how to do the job while using the materials at hand like laptops, paper manuals, and the tools that is needed to complete that job. Technology and War

...derive from?” Most have argued for a larger Western heritage dating to classical times of combining decisive battle, superior technology that is the dividend of rationalism, group discipline, and notions of freedom, audit, and constitutional government.(1) Of course, there was a particularly American variant of Western military practice that grew up on a vast frontier and was the result of the impatient nature of American popular culture and its familiarity with machines manifested best in something like George’s Patton’s romp across central France in the summer of 1944, or the dash up from Kuwait to Northern Iraq in the spring of 2003. Cohen, however, believes the U.S. way of fighting is more complex, incorporating all sorts of non-conventional elements. To make that point, he reviews warfare of the eighteenth-century along the northeastern seaboard of the American continent that rugged two-hundred-mile corridor of mountains, forests, and lakes from Albany to Montreal dubbed the “Great Warpath.”(1) His investigations reveal two less appreciated sources for the way Americans currently fight. One was the birth of a unique, and less remarked upon strain of raiding, ambushing, subversion, living off the land, ad hoc alliance building with indigenous peoples, long-range reconnaissance, and patrolling behind enemy lines.(1) The other was a sort of military populism: non-traditional tactics, by which early colonialists survived against the superior numbers of the French, Indians,...

Curent Events in Business Research

...collected is all part of business research. It is the information collected that will help managers and business owners make the best decision. While I served in the military for eight years, the U.S. Air Force has practiced business research that has resulted in how the Air Force will proceed in the future. The military uses many ways to collect data. One method they use quite often is by conducting surveys. The Air Force quality of life is known to be at a higher level than other branches. In an Army barracks you could find up to three soldiers sharing one room. On the other hand, in the Air Force provides one room for every airman. It is this quality of life that keeps retention rates higher in the Air Force rather than the other branches of military. At the same time, though, it is not the Army or Marines main mission to keep retention past the soldier’s first or second enlistment. As missions and technology change, the importance of business research in the military workplace is high. Our military budget and the data related to funding effects how the managers and military leaders make their decisions. Every supply and demand business model is requisite of logistics. Logistics is the reason for economic growth and technological advances. If it weren’t for the increasing demand for logistics to supply the economy quickly, then it wouldn’t have stimulated the advancement of technology to do so. Michael Porter, a business strategist, inferred that the increased logistical demand made business subsequently competitive. The competition through logistics sparked the technological industry into innovative equipment. Military Spending

...Government Limit the Military Spending? There is a product, each country only have one. To buy it, everybody in this country should dig their pocket. This product is named military spending. With the large amounts of research and the development of high technology weapons, regional warming of local wars, armed conflicts, and intensified arms race, the series of a new arms race, military deployment and new high-growth military spending boost are being performed on the international stage. However, governments are concerned about seeking “peace via war”. As the arms trade is the major cause of suffering for human beings, governments should limit their military spending; nobody in the world wants war. Under such rhetoric combined with powerful lobbying of the military industries, governments are intentionally aiding military, because the military spending is an important indicator to reflect the dimension of a country’s military strength, and also a major factor of the military strength. As it is a serious issue in the world and so important for every country, every country values this issue as a primary one and pay special attention on it. It is not to be confused with the concept of rate of fire, which describes cycling of the firing mechanism in a weapon system. It involves the whole range of potential weapons. The concept is taught as one of the key principles of modern warfare wherein the enemy forces are destroyed or have their will to fight negated by sufficient and preferably overwhelming use of force as a result of combat operations. Through the ages firepower has come to mean offensive power applied from a distance, as there is an immediate dissonance with the thought of one-on-one close quarters combat. Air Force Medical Treatment Facility for Erm

...Part 1 Abstract Physical fitness is a mandatory requirement by all military personnel. This enables the soldiers maneuver through their daily endeavors of protecting a nation. The nature of the job on the contrary places soldiers at the risk of injuries some of which may materialize at the most unwarranted moments. The military therefore require a highly mechanized medical service, one that secures quality (Patrick,1998). Quality in the provision of medical services encompasses a number of factors key among which is accuracy in diagnosis, treatment and drug prescription. Additionally, data in the medical spheres require secure and integral storage. Most of the diagnoses especially those associated with terminal recurrent illnesses depend largely on the patient history. All the patient details therefore require a secure database and an appropriate filing mechanism. Initially, all these activities were performed manually or mechanically with the medical system relying on paper back files and manual diagnoses. These had a number of pitfalls given the dynamic nature of military operations. Soldiers keep moving from place to place depending on the security needs of the country and they will always need to have their medical services with them. Mechanical administration becomes cumbersome in such conditions with portage prove difficult. It also becomes difficult to keep a sequential filing system for references (Marion, Ball & Joan, 2004).
