Memo To: Team Members on the Compensation / Benefits Project From: Director of Human Resources Date: 6/16/2013 Re: Budgetary concerns related to the revamp Compensation/Benefits package. While assessing the budget details of the Compensation and Benefits package project some concerns have been raised, that the budget is depleting quicker than expected. This issue is related to specific target dates that have not been met. In order to find a quick resolution to this problem, I am calling for a meeting to be held immediately in Conference Room H. This meeting will address the budget issues and how we can improve the situation. I would like to for each team member representative to analyze their place within the project and to verify if you are on schedule. This is a sound way to keep the project from over budgeting itself. It is very important that each member utilize their time wisely and focus on meeting the company goals and standards. Addressing this situation will possibly prevent the budget from going too far off course by eliminating or adjusting the amount of some items. We share the responsibility...

...class! Download MS Project “2010” version Make sure you download MS Project 2010 early in week 1. Do not wait until the weekend in case you have issues and need to contact tech support. It takes about 30 minutes or less to download. It takes about 2 hours to do Lab 1a and 1b. My recommendation is to download a free 60-day license from Microsoft. This way, if you are unable to access the Citrix server, you have the MS Project software on your desktop to do your labs and work on your course project. Instructions on how to download are in the course room, see the syllabus and doc sharing. Note: Do not download MS PROJECT 2013, as version 2013 does not align with the lab assignment instructions. You need version 2010 to execute your lab instructions properly. What will you learn from this course? * It is about: 1) Learning project management concepts, 2) Learning how to use the MS Project Tool, and 3) Applying course concepts and MS Project skills to build a project plan for something that interests you. * The “discussions” will provide insight on the concepts in the text. * The “labs” will teach you how to use MS Project, so you can build your own MS project schedule for your course project. * The “course project” will bring together several of the weekly deliverables into one Project Management Plan in week 8. Each week builds upon the previous week. * Note: Weekly feedback is provided on your course project assignments. Incorporate...

...Course Project Part 2—Due Week 4 In project Part 2, we create a schedule and accurate budget for your project. This builds upon the assignment you completed in Part 1. You should correct errors in that assignment before continuing on to this part. You need to focus on detailed cost estimating, scheduling, and cost justification. Estimating a project budget includes cost estimates for each activity in the WBS with specific assumptions made during the estimating process, as well as quantities, unit prices, hourly rates for tasks, and accumulated totals. You must justify all of your costs; this includes direct, indirect, variable, fixed, and overhead. It is ok if these are all included in burdened labor rates. This WBS must be created in MS Project using the automatic scheduling feature, indenting to produce subtasks, and allowing the software to create the WBS numbers. Numbers inserted in the file because they look right is not correct. You should include the internal resources in your project plan with a cost assigned to them. As you may remember from PROJ586 and will see later this information is necessary to use earned value to track the project. This may not be an additional cost to your company but it is a cost of doing the project. You must use a project estimating process. A functional estimate is based upon types of purchases and expenditures, and general labor for the time the entire project was in progress. If this is the way you estimate the cost of your...

The changes in marriage, divorce, and fertility rates since the 1960s have been inextricably linked with changes in attitudes towards work and, in particular, with changes in women's work patterns both in and out of the household. In that same time period, economists have come to realize that standard economic theory can be applied to many aspects of family life including marriage, fertility, divorce, and the division of work and leisure within the household. In this course we will use economic theory, both neo-classical and feminist, to explore how gender differences lead to different economic outcomes for men and women, both within families and in the marketplace. Course Prerequisite: Economics 119, Principles of Economics, is a necessary prerequisite, since we will make use of concepts, vocabulary, analytical skills and other tools developed in the Principles course.
