...sitting on the bed beside my mom as she reads to me from “Oh the places you'll go” by Dr. Seuss. My head is on her shoulder and her voice changes with each description. She asks me questions every time a page turns. “Where do YOU want to go”, she asks. It's not the first time we have read this book and, at 5 years old, I have lots of ideas of where I want to go. Sometimes it is to Granny and Grandpa's, sometimes it's to the moon. She asks me where I'll go when I'm sad or in a “Slump”. My answer for that is always, “I'll come home to you!” She laughs and keeps reading. By the time I'm 5, this scenario has played out many times as I get to pick out the book that we read before bed each night. At least once a week, I choose this book. I didn't realize, at the time, how important these times were. Looking back, I realize that each night spent reading books instilled in me the importance to read, taking what you read and broadening your mind, of taking what you read and applying it to yourself, and also, most of all, the importance of taking time to share that love of reading with someone. “What direction will you go?”, she might ask. “UP!”, I would say. With every question she would ask, I would have to think. I always wanted to give a different answer, because I never knew where it might take me. The hows, the whys, the wheres were all ways that she would teach me to think about what we were reading. “What could happen?” was always one of my favorite questions. This...

...The Story of My Search All of my life, I have had to deal with asthma. From the time that I was born until now , asthma has been a constant issue in my life. When I was born, I immediately had breathing issues. I had to make many emergency room and hospital trips at an early age. The first asthma related attack that I can recall was when I was about five years of age. I vaguely remember this incident, but I do recall the fright that the attack caused me. Being only five years old, I did not really know what was going on. All I knew was that I could not breathe and that is a very scary feeling. As I became older, I have became more interested in why my body does the things that it does. This epiphany came to me after my recent occurrence with my asthma. This revelation motivated me to do my I-Search paper I know that asthma is a respiratory disease that affected my airways, but I wanted to find out more about the exact process of an asthma attack occurring. I know that I have always had asthma, so I assumed that people were just born with it, but I was not for certain so I wanted to find out more. I wanted to know exactly what asthma was and why it caused me to have so much trouble performing the simple task of breathing. I wanted to know how severe asthma can be and if it can even be fatal. I have always had to be on some type of medicine for asthma, but I wanted to find out if there were any different or unique treatment options that could be taken. Since I am...

...Cleyder Blanco April 2, 2014 Research method Analysis Survey Here is my question from my survey How you feeling about prostitution? Do you think prostitution should be legalized? Why the people choose to be a prostitute? Most of the answers was similar at all the research that I been funded it is not really change my emphasis because the entire people think the same thing, so almost of the answers was similar, but without that, I got some common reasons. For the first question was really controversy because most of them think that prostitution is like a job where the prostitute can use the body to produce too much money selling they body. But at the same time it is morality wrong. Others think that prostitution is an easy way to find illegal money to support them family. Prostitution never goes away it will be around in one form or another forever. That make me feel like prostitution never goes to have an exactly answers because it have to many complainant to say about it, however, I will spend the rest of my life doing survey and I never going to have the same answer, therefore they may have some common words but not the same sentence about prostitution. To the prostitute prostitution is really hard to talk because all then had been maltreated, and put in this kind of life for to many reasons. The two principal are money and they parents. For the second question most of the people agree with prostitution should be legal because prostitution should never go...

...wickedness, unmerciful, murder, and covetousness and disobedient from parents, “who is going to say right and who is going to say the wrong”, we all are human being and because of our creation we don’t have a correct answers to all questions, so who is going to show us the right answer and straight ways without any mistake? Other questions is:” where everything came from”? World without God doesn’t have any answer for that question. In my own life I faced with so many questions that I really didn’t know the correct answer. “God answers stays the same because he looks to what man needs” (Williams, 1995) and he always has the right answers The other possibility that we should consider here in world without God is, increasing in rang of suicide rate, because people think life is not worth to live , that world is going to be full of hopelessness and respire and depression. We are going to see so many homeless in street that they think , there is no purpose in life to make any effort . this World is without love and trust and full of loneliness . ...at the speed of the professor is giving the lecture. What I do is make sure I mark the title of the section that I am taking the notes on then mark the notes from the section accordingly with other symbols. I find it easy to take notes in my calculus class and in my physics class. In my accounting class the professor does not have a slide show and does not lecture so it is very difficult to take notes in that class. I manage to get notes down in every class so that I can understand the material. Next the book talks about demoting assignments, and how you should choose which assignments to do over others. If you have multiple sources to read for a paper then you should only read the most credible sources so you get the important material and don’t read the same thing multiple times. I have not had a class yet that gives out multiple reading assignments for a paper. The book gives a good a good example that I would use if I did have and assignment that was like that. I think it would make sure I get everything that I need to know. Next the book talks about making a study guide for your classes. They talk about ripping out your notes and putting them together by topic. Then they say to make questions for the study guides so you can answer them to study from. I mark at the top of the...

...Unit 8 Assignment:1 Written Reflection on Our Interview After conducting my interview, I can say that I walked away from this experience with many a lesson learned. The first lesson that I learned was that after choosing a person to interview, then asking that person, most will jump on the defensive and ask “about what”. This is due to the fact that most people are usually pressed for time. They initially want to know how long this process will take without ever stopping to realize that the length of most interviews is dependent upon how long it takes for the interviewee to answer the questions that are asked. Another reason is because most will be curious about the nature of the interview, meaning what questions will be asked. This response I received tells me that people in general do not like discussing certain subjects. Some of these subjects include race, religion, and politics. These two topics are considered to be in the “No Go Zone” of interviews based entirely on their nature to insight the greatest of arguments. Another lesson I learned while conducting my interview is that most people have never been interviewed in the first place. This fact will show when the person being interviewed starts to give one word answers to questions asked. This actually happened though I informed the person that the purpose for the interview I was conducting was to gain a better insight on the subject! Lastly, I learned that when conducting the...

...Do I really want to do this? What happens if I don’t grasp the learning material? Will I understand how online classes work? Will the instructor be available to answer my questions and in a timely manner? These were just some of the questions I was asking myself. It has been sixteen years since I’ve been to school. I haven’t worked in three years and I was sitting at home doing nothing. Then it hit me, I could have been going back to school in the last three years and almost finished by now. What was I waiting for? In the back of my mind I knew I could do it. I just needed to get motivated and get the ball rolling so I could go back to school. I know I’m not going to fail. If I apply myself to get familiar with the online student portal I know I will understand online courses. After the online walk thru I knew the instructor would be there to answer all my questions by email and in a timely manner. The context I believe that motivates my learning is personal. I have three beautiful daughters ages fourteen, eight and two. They are my world and I want them to understand how important getting an education is. I want to show them that I am one hundred percent committed to getting my college degree. Also that without an education they will not make it very far in life. I want them to be proud of their mother. During the time when I was working there were times when I didn’t get promotions because I didn’t have a college degree. I want to be able to get those promotions...

...What Should I Do With My Life? The real meaning of success -- and how to find it From: Issue 66 January 2003, Page 69 [pic] It's time to define the new era. Our faith has been shaken. We've lost confidence in our leaders and in our institutions. Our beliefs have been tested. We've discredited the notion that the Internet would change everything (and the stock market would buy us an exit strategy from the grind). Our expectations have been dashed. We've abandoned the idea that work should be a 24-hour-a-day rush and that careers should be a wild adventure. Yet we're still holding on. We're seduced by the idea that picking up the pieces and simply tweaking the formula will get the party started again. In spite of our best thinking and most searing experience, our ideas about growth and success are mired in a boom-bust mentality. Just as LBOs gave way to IPOs, the market is primed for the next engine of wealth creation. Just as we traded in the pinstripes and monster bonuses of the Wall Street era for T-shirts and a piece of the action during the startup revolution, we're waiting to latch on to the new trappings of success. (I understand the inclination. I've surfed from one boom to the next for most of my working life -- from my early days as a bond trader to my most recent career as a writer tracking the migration of my generation from Wall Street to Silicon Valley.) There's a way out. Instead of focusing on what's next, let's get back to what's first. The previous...

...Based on the results of my experience, 60% of my answers were similar to how the majority of the people chose their answers. I chose objectively for questions that involved factual answers (No Googling!) but I was more influenced by the psychological prospects of the choices in the questions that involved gambling and lottery. I am also more of a risk taker and I think that prompted me to make certain choices which other people would have normally avoided. For example, in questions 7 & 8, I answered the questions objectively because I couldn’t imagine a tree that is taller than either 1200 feet or even 400 feet. Thus, while people would have normally provided their responses based on “anchoring”, and chose that the tallest redwood tree would be more than 400 feet (because they were given the value of 1200 feet in the previous question), I went about it objectively to choose the value of less than 400 feet. For question 9 though, I chose “Kristen is a bank teller and a liberal Democrat” as I was influenced by the representativeness heuristic because the information in the question led me to believe that Kristen’s portrayal was more like that of a conventional liberal Democrat than of a typical banker. So I considered this choice to be more reasonable even though the probability of...

...affect you? Question 4: What major challenges and problems did you face? How did you handle them? Question 5: | How would you react if I told you that your interview, so far, was terrible? | Answer 1 I remembered one day I was in entry level position at the university that I am still working for and my boss asked me to make a list on excel of all current students with their identification numbers and others contact info. I remembered that it was a time consuming and it really made me nervous because I hate doing borings tasks and for a long time. Once almost done with that huge list, my boss came to me and asked me if I can stop and do something else which was as boring as the first task and takes as much time as well. He said that I do not have to worry about it because the list that I was doing was not important and not a priority. However, I remembered like to day when he mentioned that the list was important and that I have to hurry on that. I couldn’t believe what was happening to me, I thought that my efforts are not taking in consideration and what I was doing is just wasting my time. I tried to stay calm and do what it is required to do in order to keep my job. I was stressed and under press ion but I believe I knew how to handle it because few days after my boss came to me and told me to stop again the task that I was doing. I thought that I was going to pass out,...

...into typed up notes and put the mind map at the front with the stapled notes behind. Secondly, I'd create a presentation of the key points and read over them in my mind as the presentation went through. As the presentation automatically looped through I'd start recalling terms with more ease due to the repetitive nature of the task. Thirdly, on the eve of the exam(s) I would sleep early and then wake up around 6am. I'd get a good breakfast in and then spend 2 hours revising before heading to the location of the exam. I'd take my notes with me on the bus and read through them. I'd then look at the mind map before binning it and entering the exam room. Finally, once we were allowed to start writing I'd turn to the back of the exam answer booklet and spend the first 5 minutes reproducing the mind map I had just visualised from memory in the back of the booklet. At this point I wouldn't even look at the question paper. I would be in a state of focus to ensure no detail was forgotten. Once the mind map was complete I would look at the questions and get on with them. As exams were often 2 hours long I'd deduct 5 minutes for the mind map, 5 minutes for reading questions and then 5 minutes for checking over. I'd spend the entire time there and never leave early. I'd then have 35 minutes per question as we had to answer 3 of the 5 available questions. Of course, with longer exams you'd split the time to...

...their employees instead of to them, making whatever the employer is trying to tell the employee go unheard or misunderstood. I speak from experience on this matter. I have been a manual labor employee my whole life and have had many employers call a meeting of the staff only to talk to us like we are idiots, in the process belittling us causing me to not care about what they had to say. Another drawback to this is it puts whoever is giving the employees the talk on the spot leaving them unprepared to answer questions in depth. A great example of this is when I worked for a transportation company in Connecticut. One day our manager called a meeting after work now, off the bat this was a bad idea because all we could think about was going home and that was mistake one. The second mistake was informing us that the company decided to change the way our transportation department drivers did their routes. They decided to tell us the route we must take and that we could not vary from the route. They had a supposed efficiency expert do all the routes to make it more efficient. Now as drivers, we are all insulted because that means that we were not doing our jobs correctly. The third and final mistake was not having answers to our questions and the fact that we were not consulted. The only answer was the company thinks this will make us more productive. What the company did not see is that certain customers could not be delivered to until later so taking their route would take twice as long...
