...turns a group of undisciplined college players into an extraordinary and inspiring hockey team. Coach Brooks uses many characteristics that describe his approach to leadership. First characteristic would be that Brooks was very inspiring which is a positive characteristic and is consistent with TLC’s characteristics of exemplary leaders. Coach Brooks inspires confidence in his team by presenting a convincing game plan for beating the Soviets by showing the U.S. team complete faith that they can beat them. Brooks has a very inspiring speech before the Russian game by saying “if we play them ten times they might wine nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight we are the greatest hockey team in the world!.” The U.S. team was very inspired and regardless of how intimidating the rival team was, Coach Brooks was able to carry his group of players all the way to Gold Medal. Other characteristics that describe Brooks are intelligent, determined, and very ambitious. Coach proves at the end of the movie that he was indeed intelligent and that his game plan was credible all along. He didn’t have many believers initially, but he sure proved the world wrong. Coach Brooks is not your typical coach; he uses many different approaches to build his team by making his down decisions and using different tactics to inspire his team to Olympic goal. Coach showed he was an exemplary leader by ‘challenging the process’. He did this by insisting he make the key decisions on his own. In the movie, Coach...

...Assignment # 2: Decision Making My decision making process for selecting university. I started in a two year college where I obtain a certificate in technical communications. While still taking classes I decided to further my education by getting a B.Sc. degree in a four year college, but then the question is what university do I want to attend? At that point, I started my research as to the choice of college I want to attend. The first thing I did was to ask few friends of mine, my parent and some few relatives to get their option. After getting a few list of schools which include West Georgia, Kennesaw State University, and Georgia Southwestern State University which I found myself just to mention but a few . The next thing I did was to research more on the degrees offered by each school because I wanted to major in pharmacy or information technology. Another thing that was important in making my decision as to which school to attend was tuition fees, size, geographical area, financial aid, and dorm fees just to mention but a few because I wanted to leave on campus. My next step toward making a decision was to compare each schools to know which best fit my need. After getting all the information that I wanted I now begin to look into those schools that were close to what I want. I had figure out that Georgia Southwestern State University and West Georgia where the two school that really have the two majors even though GSW had it as Chemistry/pre-pharmacy, I was satisfied...

...To start I would like to say that I am very happy with my decision to attend IVY Tech. I have been wanting to come back to college for several years and thought this was a good time since all my children are now a little more independent and all in school full time. I would have to say that almost all of the sociocultural influences helped me decide on attending IVY Tech and I will explain in the following paragraphs. First and the most important of the influences is word of mouth. I have had a few friends that have attended and graduated from IVY Tech and all of them had good things to say about the school. The most important was a friend of mine who came to IVY Tech to get her degree in nursing, she always told me how good the classes and instructors were at IVY Tech and I have to say at this point in my college experience I agree. From the first semester I feel that the instructors are always trying to help you succeed. The second would be reference groups. I didn’t use it much in choosing this school specifically but did use reference groups as a driving force to get myself back in school. My husband and most of my friends have their degrees and I could see it was much easier to get a job that pays better. I did have several friends that attended IVY Tech and went on to get a Bachelor’s degree elsewhere and they all recommended the school because of its affordability. The culture and subculture influences that drove me to IVY Tech were that I would be with other...

...| Strategic Leadership & HRM | Angelo’s Pizza | | By: Nida Kanwal (13-3201) | 11/21/2013 | | Q1: my strategy is to (hopefully) expand the number of stores and eventually franchise, while focusing on serving only high quality fresh ingredients. What are three specific human resource management implications of my strategy (including specific policies and practices)? Answer: The expansion of stores and eventually franchising while focusing on serving only high quality fresh ingredients should include the following three resource management implications: (1) BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT ANALYSIS: This implication represents the importance of the company’s general and competitive environment. Angelo needs a good business strategy. A strategic plan is the company’s plan for how it will match its internal strengths and weaknesses with external opportunities and threats in order to maintain a competitive advantage. Angelo’s early attempts showed the pitfalls in rushing and making assumptions about replicating a viable business unit. Fortunately, Angelo has realized his lack of proper planning and the necessity to correct his errors before attempting to branch out into more stores and possibly franchising. The locations of the proposed new stores are paramount. These locations must be in areas where high quality ingredients are readily available. The supply of fresh ingredients does not meet all the needs for successful stores. The medium that serves the customer pays...

... people may face many obstacles which they must overcome. One of the most common obstacles are decisions. Everyone continuously faces decisions, whether it is what outfit to wear or what to eat, daily. Along with these simpler decisions, people face more difficult ones as well. One of the first major decisions must be made during the teenage years. Nearly all students who are bound for post-secondary education face the difficult decision of determining which school to attend to further their education. When making this decision, it is important to weigh the pros and cons along with the long term influence of the decision. I too struggled with my own decision regarding where to attend school, however I feel that as long as all...

...recording process, from helping to select songs to contracting with session players, selecting the studio and engineers, booking studio time and overseeing the recording budget. All these responsibilities require musical skill and performance experience, combined with a thorough knowledge of musical genres, music and sound production in a recording studio. Some music producers work for record labels producing for recording artists under contract, while others produce sound recordings for movies, television shows, music videos, commercials or video games. And while many are full-time employees, others are self-employed. That type of music career means you also need to be adept at running your own business. The first task of a record producer is to collaborate with an artist to select songs for the album, whether written by the artist or by another songwriter. The producer may participate in the rehearsal process and may hire an arranger to add parts to some songs, or begin making beats and picking possible samples. The Producer selects a studio, sets a recording time, chooses an engineer, and enlists the services of session musicians and background vocalists where needed. During the recording session, the record producer works closely with the recording engineer to perfect each track, decides when to do retakes, and adds his or her own trademark to the song. The final mix of the album is under the supervision of the producer, and he or she makes decisions on the order...

...Evidence-based nursing, evidenced-based practice, and evidence-based medicine are all based on the idea that health care treatment has transitioned from “practice that was based on intuition, experience, clinical skills and guesswork” to practice based in science (Chitty, 2010, p. 258). This has allowed nurses to make decisions based on research, and to provide the most skilled, advanced, and expert care. Nurses should know where to find research to support evidence-based care decisions. According to Ciliska, Haynes, and Marks (2013), a nurse could review textbooks, online data bases, journal articles, and the internet. One should consider that both consolidated and distilled information resources are available, and remember that distilled information resources do not always provide the most accurate and up to date information. The consolidate resources can be plentiful and one may have some difficulty choosing which research documents to review when searching for a specific topic. Chitty (2010) suggested using the PICO tool, which is also referred to as the PICOT tool (Langara College, 2015). This tool is a five step process for “streamlining” the process of selecting appropriate research. It includes consideration of Population (describes a group of patients similar to yours, Intervention...

... 1. Describe the selection process you would use to make the most cost-effective and employee-friendly decision. Benefits being provided by an employer can provide a source of financial protection to an employee. Today many health care organizations offer health benefits along with disability, basic life and tuition assistance. In an attempt to recruit and retain skilled employees, employers should consider significantly improving the selection of benefits they provide. The position as HR Director requires me choosing the most cost-effective and employee-friendly benefit package for the company. For me, the most important step in the selection process would be to create a list of what the needs of the employees might be. In the U.S. today many companies are made up of a diverse workforce and making a cost-effective and employee-friendly decision when it comes to employee benefits can be difficult. In this case, the company is looking at their benefits package as a means of saving money. Employee benefits can be used to by employers to strengthen the relationship with their employees. So, when choosing the best benefits package it is very important to consider the workers. The wants and needs of the workers may vary in a diverse work environment. In a workforce comprised mostly of women who have young children health care and childcare may be options that will motive them. Then again, if the majority of the workforce is new college graduates health care and tuition...

...Processes of Project Procurement Derrick A. Gardner University of Maryland University College PMAN 641 March 1, 2015 Project procurement management is an overall process that identifies and acquires the necessary products and services to successful support the development or the ongoing work of a project. Typically, it is the project managers responsibility to oversee the entire procurement process. However, in some instances, the company or organization may seek another person to carryout these responsibilities. According to the PMBOK (2013), there are four processes to project procurement management: Plan Procurements; Conduct Procurements; Administer Procurements; and Close Procurements. Upon examining the processes from the PMBOK, it has been discovered that each of these processes interact with one another to ensure that the designated project is executed successfully. To demonstrate the effectiveness of each component of the procurement management process, this paper will analyze each component and how they were successfully used, or could be applied in The Springfield Interchange Improvement Project case study. PLAN PROCUREMENTS According to the PMBOK (2013), Plan Procurements is the process of documenting project purchasing decisions, specifying the approach, and identifying potential sellers. During this phase, project managers utilize the plan procurement process and their techniques to identify possible risks associated with the project and their...

Decision-making process involves selection of the best alternative from many choices. It involves setting goals to make decisions, assessing alternative occupations and gathering information. When analyzing economic models, managers and economists note that there are fundamental assumptions that every model relies on to remain valid. These assumptions are present in all decision circumstances. ...CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION Background to the Study Education is the key that unlocks the door to development. Ghana as a developing country has never relented in her efforts to draw up educational programmes to meet the changing demands, needs and aspirations of her citizens as well as the nation as a whole since independence in 1957. The first initiative in education taken by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the Associated Development Plan that aimed at ensuring that every child of school going age (i.e. 6 years) receives fee free basic education. Education was therefore seen as a process of helping an individual to develop his abilities, interests potentialities and talents to the optimum so as to be useful to himself or herself and the nation as a whole. As the individuals develop fully their cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills and contribute meaningfully towards the development of the nation, then it can be confirmed that the assertion is true. In September 1987, the Peoples’ National Defence Congress (PNDC) government implemented the New Educational Reforms Programme with the ultimate aim of eradicating the defects in the old educational system. The main objectives of the Reform among other things include: 1. To reduce the period of basic education to 9 years (primary 6 JHS – 3 year). 2. To raise the quality of basic education to give all children some secondary education. 3. To encourage practical programmes which lead to the acquisition of skills for...
