...is done effectively delegating can relieve some of your stress and give you more time to do your job. Delegating can help enhance your credibility as a manager/leader. By allowing your employees new ways to show their responsibility, you get their respect and loyalty. It will also help to identify potential within your team. According to Murdock and Scutt (2001) a manager should delegate the following: * Routine tasks * Interesting tasks * Tasks that others could possibly do better * Tasks that others might enjoy * Tasks that are good for an individual’s development * Time consuming tasks * Tasks for which you are not ultimately responsible. Managers who delegate effectively also receive several personal benefits; most importantly, they have more time to do their own jobs when they assign tasks to others. Given the hectic nature of managerial work, time is a precious commodity. Effective delegation frees the manager to focus on managerial tasks such as planning and control. Delegating also gives you time as a manager to take on tasks that develop your own skills. A manager is not the only one who sees the advantages of delegation. When you delegate you will teach your employees new skills...

...lives just by having used their time effectively. The ability and the knowledge of using time are referred to as time management. Now a day’s time management is essential and required while undergoing a task and the person who is working on a task should have acquired the skills of time management to eliminate defects and time wastage. An inspiring quote which emphasizes on the importance of time management is: “Time stays long enough for those who use it” and from this quote we can sense the deep meaning of time management skills. Reflection is defined as deliberately examining and considering the advantages and disadvantages of a personal experience. Reflecting on your personal work will help in learning from past experience; also it allows for personal and professional growth. A reflective essay is a way of writing in which the writer illustrate and describe his or her personal experience. Reflective writing is done by describing the facts which made up the experience and by evaluating the whole experience after it have been done by looking on what when well and what did not. This essay is going to reflect the time management skills used by me which allowed me to overcome my graduation project and presentation. (Quotations Book. 2013) The experience & evaluation: In my final year study at the university I was asked to carry out a research on fiber lasers and use simulation software called RP Photonics to design a practical laser. Both the software and the fiber laser...

...Research Strategy Paper GEN200 Research Strategy Paper This research strategy paper is about a problem for me in my day to day life and how I would like to come up with a strategy to solve the issue. I will briefly discuss my problem that I’m having in my day-to-day life. Identifying what kinds of information I can use to help in solving this issue and where I can get this information from. I will be going over the process that I will use to evaluate the information that I have gathered. The types of things I will consider as I evaluate the information. Last, I will explain how to use the information I have gathered to resolve the problem or issue at hand. The problem or issue that I am having in my day-to-day life is procrastination. I don’t know why, but for some reason it’s hard for me to get started on any task. I found myself getting very distracted at times and usually wind up avoiding the situation. I think I work better under pressure so I tend to put things off until the last-minute hoping that the time crunch will push me to get the task done. When I know I have to get something done I usually think I have plenty of time and start to blow things off. An example of this is a trip that I have been planning to San Diego in order for me to obtain a birth certificate. My birth certificate is needed in order for me to apply for jobs and other needed benefits. If I did this by mail the process would be more complicated in which it...

...Instructor Woodard ENG-111 FGT04 01/07/2013 The Semester My Hand Almost Fell Off The most recent experience I had with writing was last semester, in my English 090 class. My teacher’s name was Josh Lane, but the class just called him Josh. I went into the course with the assumption that I would only have to compose simple paragraph papers while also learning the ropes of grammatical writing. I was sadly mistaken. Through the semester Josh gave the class five writing assignments. They ranged from three to five pages long. Out of all the writing assignments I received my favorite was a four page paper I had to write an allegory of myself. My least favorite was a five page paper the whole class had to write. About mid semester, when my hand only had a tingle, Josh lectured about Plato’s “A Allegory of the Cave.” Thus giving me my next challenging task he had in store. I had to compose an allegory of myself while explaining the concept of the Plato’s allegory. I had to dissect the symbolism in Plato’s allegory and prove how it coincided with my own allegory. What made this objective so interesting, yet so strenuous was the fact that my allegory had to be based upon a difficult time I have had in my life. My essay was littered with very detailed descriptors of my dreadful situation and Plato’s allegory. That is why this particular essay was my favorite. I8 was able to take a seemingly arduous task and break it down, in my own words, so that a reader would be able to comprehend “The...

...Research Paper Grantham University 07 July 2014 Bradley S. Smelley As a wounded warrior, coming home to recover from injuries and having to adjust to life not surrounded by the mental and physical demands of war was the hardest part of reintegrating into what most in this country know as a normal life. For combat soldiers like myself, we find a way with support and time, but for others it isn’t so easy. Their minds have taken what they have been through making them see and feel aspects of war where there isn’t. History shows us that this has been going on many wars ago with many different names, but with new technology and medical advancements we can look further into the minds of those affected and see what can be done to help suffering from what is now known as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). Now, as a retired wounded warrior with 20 years of service, I work at the Nashville Veterans Affair (VA) in the IT department, but get to help those that are retired, wounded, and/or those effected with PTSD on a daily basis. This is the reason for my choosing the following as my research paper topic; The effects of PTSD on returning combat veterans and how to effectively reintegrate them back into society. Before choosing this topic, I had to understand and apply the first few areas of the major tasks in how to write a research paper. The other tasks will be used as my paper...

They write a ‘for or against’ blog entry and respond to their classmates’ writing with written comments. Procedure Lead in • Tell the class about a friend who has an electronic book. Ask if the students know anyone who has an ebook. What can they tell you about ebooks? • Draw the following chart on the board. As a class, list ideas for and against electronic books, e.g., ebooks are cheap, paper books are easier to read. Leave the notes on the board. Electronic books |Advantages |Disadvantages | | | | Task 1: Read • Hand out Task 1. Ask students to look at the text. Can they identify the blog entry (the first part) and the comments section (the second part)? Ask students to read the blog entry (they will read the comments section later) quickly and decide if the writer is for or against ebooks (the writer is neutral; neither for nor against). Set a two-minute time limit. • Ask students to do exercise A. They could say if the writer agrees with the class’s list of advantages and disadvantages on the...

...This paper will define and explain and provide examples of several characteristic features of performance assessments. This paper will also examine if the topic impacts curriculum and standards, and will critically analyze if the impact seems appropriate. Body Generally speaking, coming to terms with a good definition of performance assessments, from Frey and Schmitt points of view, was difficult to capture. Although they made mention of classroom assessments (performance, authentic, and formative), they compared and contrasted other scholars views. Therefore, my focus shifted to additional articles. According to the Education Consumer Guide, performance assessment also known as alternative or authentic assessments, is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list. For example, a student may be asked to explain historical events, generate scientific hypotheses, solve math problems, converse in a foreign language, or conduct research on an assigned topic (Office of Research, Sep 93). As you see from the examples above, performance assessments require the student to display or show what they can do. This performance can take the form of responding to an activity by assessing their thinking, problem solving, or writing abilities to name a few. Several features or methods of assessing student’s performance are currently being used. My discussion will briefly explain and provide examples of the following...

...Positive Affirmation 1. I am able to complete my school work and weekly tasks in a timely and stress-free manner without procrastination being an issue. 2. I have chosen this particular affirmation because I have found that I am an expert in the art of procrastination. Procrastination is something that has always been a factor in my life regarding school work. For as long as I can remember, I have been putting off the completion of writing papers and doing homework for all subjects in school. I also procrastinate when I need to study for a test, and I end up cramming at the last minute. I have been using procrastination in regards to writing papers, doing homework, and studying for tests for so many years now that it seems to work for me as I am able to complete all off my assignments by the due date, and do well on tests. The reason I want to change my procrastinating ways is because of the immense, unnecessary stress that it physically, as well as mentally, puts upon me. Procrastination also affects me outside of school. One example of this is the way that I put off doing any of my closing tasks at work until the last ten minutes we are open, which causes me to have to stay at work after hours in order to complete them. Procrastination has kept me up all night, caused me untold amounts of stress, and has also gotten me into trouble at my job. It seems as if it is only a major factor regarding school, but in reality it affects everything. Procrastination is something...

...INT1 Task 3 Page 2 Project Design Plan This experiment asks the question, “What paper towel is more absorbent for the price per sheet?” Will the more costly paper towels absorb a bigger spill therefore giving the consumer reasoning on buying the higher priced paper towel? This experiment will examine the absorbency of three different brands of paper towels and then compare the results to the price of the product to find the absorbency value. First, we will purchase one roll from three different brands of paper towels from the same store at retail price. It’s important to purchase the products at full cost or note what the normal price is from the same store since different stores may have different prices. Different brands of paper towel rolls come with different amounts of sheets as well as sizes, so it will be important to have all the sample sizes the same for accurate results. The results will be drawn up after the controlled experiment is finished. The experiment will consist of taking an individual sheet from each brand of paper towel and spread it over a container and using a medicine dropper or eye dropper filled with water, squeeze drops onto the paper towel one at a time until the water starts to leak into the container below. Each drop will be counted up to the point where the water leaks into the container. This will be done three times with each brand...

...The Expectancy Motivation Value and Self Efficiency Fueled My Career Choice. Celiwe T. Mnguni HCS/504 November 19, 2012 Danielle Patrick The Expectancy Motivation and Self-Efficiency Value Fueled My Career Choice The decision to pursue graduate studies was not an overnight thought but a drawing board with careful planning and research. Career stagnancy and burnout was a major driving force fueled by motivation and commitment for self-actualization. According to Plunkett, Iwasiw, and Kerr (as cited in Eccles et al., 1983) Eccles et al. stated, the expectancy motivation value and self-efficiency are the determinants of career choices in college (Plunkett, Iwasiw, & Kerr, 2010). Expectancy motivation value is driven by the utility value, which is long-term usefulness of the task and intrinsic value, which is short-term value, whereas self-Efficiency stem from mastery of tasks and social persuasion (Plunkett, Iwasiw, & Kerr, 2010). The utility value, as displayed by my ambition to climb the clinical ladder will combat my career fatigue and burnout I have suffered in last few years. Lack of career advancement and development does not only affect the quality of nursing care but also patient satisfaction (Lorber and Skela, 2012). This goal will improve the quality of care I deliver to patients and self-esteem. My second long-term goal is acquisition of skills and knowledge needed for my field of study. Health care transformation to digital age, government mandated...

...would love to be able to only do one thing at a time but it seems to be impossible with what all I have to deal with and do in a days’ time. With that being said if I ever wanted to do one thing at a time I would have to learn how to do it all over again and get out of the mindset that I need to get everything done and get it done right away. I am willing to try to learn it all over again but chances are I will have to practice when the kids are not home so I do not get distracted. The other thing is I need to not watch tv when I am doing other tasks or even doing homework. This would be the biggest problem for me is always having the tv on where ever I am at. * Switching between tasks takes time even if we are not aware that it does and what our minds are required to do (page 75). It also says in some cases multitasking can be very dangerous (page 76). Chances are you can and will get more done and be safer if you just focus on one task at a time (page 76). It says in the book it would be a very good skill for me to learn if I have small children (page 76) which I do have one small child. She is a one year old. Doing one thing at a time is a good start on working to cut down your stress level (page 77). * When it comes to doing one thing at a time I am not very good at this at all.
