PERSONAL STATEMENT
My passion for psychology became apparent during my undergraduate studies at Walter Sisulu University, in the Eastern Cape. While studying towards a Bachelor of Social Science degree, majoring in Psychology and Sociology, my interest in psychology was kindled. The 3-year degree programme gave me a background in psychology and sociology, and challenged me to advance my studies at an Honour’s level. The Baccalaureus Artium Honores in Psychology is not only recognized as meeting the requirements by the Department of Education, but offers first-class training with practical experience, affording me the opportunity to strengthen my prospects in pursuing a career in counseling .
Additionally, your educational institution provides high quality courses in an environment which encourages students to achieve excellence in their studies. I believe that studying through Cornerstone will afford me the opportunity for quality education and personal growth in its broadest sense. I am certain that I will enjoy your program in Psychology and flourish under the challenging environment that advanced studies necessitate.
Since studying Psychology at an undergraduate level, I have gained many practical skills, including good levels of concentration and great managerial skills. During my first year of study, I was introduced to the foundations of Psychology and Origins of Sociological thought. During my second and third year of study, my understanding of psychology was increased through courses such as: Genesis of Human Behaviour; Psychological Assessment and Research Methods; Community Psychology and Primary Health Care; Social Psychology and Psychotherapeutic Interventions; Strategic Human Resources Management; in addition to courses in Sociology and Criminology.
Research was also an important part of my university career. Research projects that I

My Personal Ethics Statement

...My Personal Ethics Statement Dawn Belt University of Phoenix Health Law and Ethics HCS 478 Shavonnie Carthens July 03, 2015 My Personal Ethics Statement Ethics is defined by "the branch of philosophy concerned with evaluating human action", (Wacker Guido, 2010, Chapter 1). I have spent a large amount of time reflecting on ethics as what ethics means to me, as well as, which values are the most important to me and how I live by them. I find ethics to mean who one feels about doing the right thing and accountability. Values are our characteristics that help us to be ethical. During my journey through the Ethical Lens Inventory, I had to ponder over the many stages and encounters throughout my life. I am amazed at how, so many small, and what I thought to be insignificant encounters, I had in my life has made a big impact on my values. The list of all the encounters is too long to provide here in my personal ethics statement. Therefore, this paper will focus on the encounters that have made the most impact on the most important values to me. As I reflect on my years of growing up, I remember my parents trying to teach right from wrong. My father seemed to teach right from wrong by always focusing on my wrongs as I cannot remember learning right from wrong with something that I did or did not do for the good. I was in fourth grade when I collected every student's pencils and kept them at my desk. Taking the pencils were considered stealing, and when my parents found...

My Gpa Personal Statement

...It would be cliché to say that my GPA does not define me. The statement itself would be untrue, because that number, and its' components are a chronical of my academic footprint. Thus, it defines me academically, and its numerical value is an attestation of the work I have done so far. However, my GPA cannot attest for the ignorance I possessed as a high school student, and the depression I have fought against for the past year and a half. In truth I like to think of my GPA as an optical allusion, the matter they share in common, perspective. In one perspective you see one entity, a less than perfect GPA. However, when your eyes become conscious of the new perspective, you see the allusion's truth. My allusion's truth is, I have not allowed...

Personal Narrative: My Personal Statement Goals

...My personal statement goals consisted of figuring out for myself why I should be accepted into the program, and what makes me unique compared to the other candidates who are applying for the same program. This goal was supposed to help me in being a more effective and persuasive writer as a whole. In addition, I also had a goal of writing more creatively, something in which I had not yet explored prior to this assignment. I wanted a personal statement that I could look back on when applying to graduate schools and could be happy with the results, as well as, have a great foundation created for when I need to produce another personal statement in the future. I am proud to say that reflecting back on these goals, I have achieved all of them successfully....

Personal Statement : My Hero

...My father walked with such determination that he might as well have been wearing a red cape and tights. Sure, this is a common perception for most children, but my parents survived the 1973 Cambodian genocide and have managed to provide a life for which my siblings and I will be forever grateful. When life got the best of me, my father always knew what to do and still does. As cliché as it is, he is my superhero. His catch phrase: “There’s always someone out there that views your life as a heaven.” Admittedly, this often went in one ear and out the next, but without it, I wouldn’t have been able to bear the unexpected. During my freshman year of high school, my father was diagnosed with colon cancer. I remember being taken by surprise and developing an unexpected emptiness. I felt nothing. I was in denial. Despite the fact my mind went blank, I only remember wondering how anyone could view my life as anything remotely close to “a heaven.” My Friday nights were spent in waiting rooms as I flipped through outdated issues of Time Magazine; my eyes constantly shifted from pictures to passing nurses. Though I missed football games to attend sessions with my mom, the fidgeting of her hand in mine assured me that this was where I should be. I began missing my golf matches and eventually ended my participation. Though I was slightly disappointed, none of these events mattered because I realized my ability as an emotional rock for my family. My dad’s illness resulted...

Personal Statement: My Experience With Depression

...Personal Statement This story revolves around my experience with depression at 14 years old. At that time we could say that I was healthy and happy, both personally and in school. However, a series of events related to the loss of some relatives important to me, that triggered a situation of depression, that I never saw coming and that by the time I realized I was completely immersed in it, I could not avoid. I remember the symptoms, living in what it seemed like an endless cloud of sorrows, without interest, indecisive, with low self-esteem, anxiety, and sadness. Just getting up to go to school was an ordeal, because I had no desire, no drive. In the morning, after a while of thinking about it, I would wake up and I would sit on the end of...

...I always remember people asking me “what do you want to be when you grow up” and I always said the same thing. A teacher. Then I found my love for special education children, and from there I haven’t stopped loving them. I believe I found my passion thanks to my grandmother, she has worked with special education children for a number of years. I started volunteering at special olympics with her when I was about 11 years old and automatically had a connection with these children. I still try and volunteer with these kids as much as I can and participate in Circle of Friends here at AHS. Personal Statement Essay: My Interest In Science

...My interest in science dates back to my years in high school, where I excelled in Biology, Chemistry, and Math. I grew up in a small town named Sibu, where this small town was lack of medical equipment and facilities. I personally felt that it is not right that some people have access to the best doctors and treatment while others have no medical care. I've seen people around me suffering from chornic diseases and because of this, I felt really inspired to become a doctor; this had sprouted my passion for medicine at a very tender age. I thoroughly enjoyed studying the current Medicine course in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I love reading Medicine books. To me, they were my storybooks. My intellectual curiosity ensures I stay well ahead of the syllabus. For example, I was recently intrigued by an article development in medical surgery. The surgeons decided that rather than amputate, they salvage the man's hand by surgically tucking it into a soft-tissue pouch in his belly after his organ was badly damaged in a traffic accident. I realized that one of the important aspect that need to be...
