My Reflection for Mother Teresa
Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. The one quote that Mother Teresa has said impact me. For me, she is an unique individual with an exceptional love for mankind and the needy. She is simple and dedicated. She helped the poorest of the poor, the downtrodden and the rejected, gave them courage to live and the feeling of their worth. For me Mother Teresa is like Christ because she helped many people and gave them hope to them live their with simplicity. Mother Teresa’s life proved that the only real revolution in human affairs flows from service to others and self-sacrifice out of love for Jesus Christ. He life-long devotion to the poor, the sick and the disadvantaged was the highest examples of service to humanity. Many obstacles has passed through Mother Teresa but she overcome them. People criticize her but instead of making pay of what they did, Mother Teresa has clarified to them her work and also her responsibilities as a nun. Her life was one of the best examples of service to God. Many of us was touched by the mission of Mother Teresa.
Throughout her life on earth, and now even more fully in the Kingdom, she stands as a beacon of light reflecting the heart of God to those who seek Him, who seek signs of His nearness and care in the darkness of human suffering and sin.
For me she is “something beautiful that is made by God and for God”.
By serving the poor through by “small things done with great love”. She wanted to imitate Him who came to serve rather than to be served. These humble works of love aimed not so much at medical expertise or righting of social ills, nor even at producing verifiable results, but rather at the “salvation and sanctification” of the poorest of the poor.

From 1948, Mother Teresa left the convent school to take on the task of helping poor slum dwellers in Calcutta. She started an open-air school for children from slums where she was joined by volunteers. Mother Teresa also learnt basic medical techniques as she realized the lack of basic facilities for the poor. In 1980, she opened homes for people who had no one to look after them. These people included people suffering from incurable diseases, prostitutes, drug addicts as well as orphans. The Life of Mother Teresa-Reflection Paper

...The Life of Mother Teresa A Reflection Paper Have you ever loved someone? Well she does, she loved others before herself and she loves God. She is a woman of charity, humility and kindness. She is Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She lived a life dedicated to the love of God. A life that is extraordinary. She thought everybody around her how to love. A love that is not measurable by money or anything materially. Her journey is never easy. Struggles and criticisms kept on coming, but that is how God works. Those obstacles made Mother Teresa a better person, a better servant of God to people. She looks deep into the soul. She did not discriminate anybody. She extended her hand as the Helping hands of God. Myriads of questions cross my mind while watching her life like, how could she abandon a life full of comfort? How could she love someone she just saw? How could she hear God calling her? I was so ignorant that I did not saw the answer immediately. The answer was a strong foundation of faith and love. An answer that is not easy to find. Her Life was exceptional. Learning through it will make you realize how much comfort you had. It will make you see the suffering that others had to endure all their lives. It will make you learn how to love and give. She would always say that if we judge people, then we have no time to love them. You can also see the leadership spirit in her. Even though she is experiencing lack of support and resources, she made her way to make people feel...

...ability in those areas. If I was to rank my abilities, I’d do it as follows: * Courage (5/10) * Self Confidence (4/10) * Intelligence (5/10) * Knowledge (4/10) * Punctuality (3/10) * Humility (5/10) * Commitment (5/10) * Patience (5/10) 1.3 Give reasons for your ranking. I think I have the courage to do things but I lack the self confidence. I believe that I’m a little on intelligence and knowledge but I still lack the punctuality. I’m always humble towards others. If I commit myself to do a work, I dont leave it until its completed. I also believe that I have a lot of patience and am always willing to wait. 1.4 Support the reasons for your ranking with evidence. Courage is what I believe I have, because it was not easy for me to travel to New Zealand, where I knew nobody. But I lack the self confidence which makes me feel somewhat shy to talk to new people. And also, I have good grasping skills and am a fast learner, which I can account into intelligence. But still, I have to learn a lot of new things which are not known to me. And I also feel that I need to be more punctual, not that I’m always late, but I dont want to miss oppurtunities by a little difference. I respect everyone and do not wish to hurt their feelings, and that’s what I believe, makes me humble. Task 2: Design a plan to develop your leadership potential. 2.1 Identify your current leadership strengths. My current leadership strengths are as...

Art Love

...Art 100 Professor Lois Reflection 5: Sculpture or Crafts The Bernini’s Ecstasy of Saint Theresa is an impressive sculpture that I came across and as I ponder about it has an absolute important meaning, but at the same time it’s strange. I found a description of how Bernini describes this sculpture:” Beside me, on the left, appeared an angel in bodily form.... He was not tall but short, and very beautiful; and his face was so aflame that he appeared to be one of the highest rank of angels, who seem to be all on fire.... In his hands I saw a great golden spear, and at the iron tip there appeared to be a point of fire. This he plunged into my heart several times so that it penetrated to my entrails. When he pulled it out I felt that he took them with it, and left me utterly consumed by the great love of God. The pain was so severe that it made me utter several moans. The sweetness caused by this intense pain is so extreme that one cannot possibly wish it to cease, nor is one's soul content with anything but God. This is not a physical but a spiritual pain, though the body has some share in it—even a considerable share.” I feel like this certain description he is talking about the devil because he was an angel, fallen angel and he describes fire and we all know the devil is associated with fire .He says Mother Theresa said she got a spiritual pain from it so intense even uttered moans. So it also sounds like its sexual related and ecstasy is a drug so its possible this...

Ethics

...than an individual. Deontological theory determines which morals are good or bad. All three theories involve right and wrong aspects. Virtue theory is where a person makes a choice of doing right or wrong based solely on moral principles. An example of this would be Mother Teresa, and he quest to be kind to all people, even those that others have shunned. Her morals guided her to help people with leprosy, AIDS, and orphanages. Her actions based upon her personal character traits and moral standards gave her the ability to serve those around her and therefore she was considered to be a virtuous person. Utilitarianism is when someone makes a rule or decision for the good of a team rather than self-gain. In other words, this would be a team win instead of an individual win. An example of this was when as a manager I discovered my entire team would be laid off. I could have relayed the information and moved quickly to another department and left my team to handle the fallout. However, I made the decision to go to upper management and request a bigger severance package for my employees that stayed to the end, get them all letters of recommendation, got HR to write a letter stating that the layoff was not a reflection of their work but a change in business. This was a win for the entire team and office rather than me leave, and they struggle on their own. Deontological theory determines which morals should be required, forbidden or...

...Teresa Durstine PSYC 250 – DOL 1 Professor Stone October 28, 2013 Beyond Biography A person’s character and personality will leave a great impression on others. Although some of these impressions are positive ones; however, others may be negative. A person’s childhood will often have a great influence on a person’s personality and character. An individual’s identity will be a reflection of their religious beliefs, ethnic background, gender, as well as their birth order. All of these will aid in the development of their own uniqueness. In a sense, we become a product of our childhood, or our up-bringing. The first theorist is Alfred Alder, he was the younger of two siblings and this made him become competitive. Whereas, his is older brother, Sigmund was very healthy, robust, and full of energy; Alfred suffered from poor health and required extra attention during his childhood. Alfred developed a combative side, and he would often challenge authority. He also strived for superiority over Sigmund. Because his older brother was domineering, competent, and intelligence, Alfred always felt inferior to him. This would cause Alfred to feel like he was the underdog, who was constantly competing against a very powerful foe. All this aided in Alfred developing a fierce rivalry against his brother Sigmund. When Alfred was just five years old, he almost died from pneumonia. Young Alfred went skating with an older boy who abandoned him on the freezing, ice cold skating...

Philippine Catholic

...Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion - Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The Catholic Religion - The world has more than one billion Catholics and with the ever growing population, it will only get larger in number. To be a Catholic means to have complete faith in God and his divine grace. Having God's divine grace means to obey it and keep it holy as it was created by God and given to his people. The religion itself is based on this and the people take it very seriously. Catholics believe that all people are of good nature but when one commits a sin it not only hurts that one person but the people and the Church.... ... "death rows" awaiting their appeals or death (Wests Encyclopedia). Mankind is created in the image of God, and being created in the image of God means, among other things, that man has been commissioned by God to carry out certain responsibilities, like administering justice (Howard “Christians and Capital Punishment”). According to Kronenwetter, Capital punishment—or death—is generally considered the most terrible penalty society can inflict not only because it is the most violent of all legal punishments, but because it is the most final and complete ( Dieter “Sentencing For Life”). The definition of Capital punishment is “The lawful infliction of death as a punishment; the death penalty” (“Wests Encyclopedia of American Law”). In my opinion, As a Christian man and a citizen of the United States, capital punishment should be handled at state levels and the criminals convicted after a fair trial for a murder should be given the death penalty. As Christians and citizens of the United States, capital punishments have caused numerous deaths, has had different interpretations between the Old testament compared to the New Testament, has created disagreements and arguments in favor of and against capital punishment, has left the U.S. seemingly contradicting the United States constitution. First, one has to recognize the numerous...

An Interview with an Athiest

...An Interview with the Unknown Who do you interview when you haven’t stepped outside of your Christian bubble since you left College Station? The only thing I knew to do was pray that God would provide me the wisdom of who I should interview. Thirty minutes later, I received a text message from a good friend of mine that I hadn’t talked to in a couple months. A couple minutes later I received another text message from a different friend as well. Both were non-believers. Automatically, I looked up and thought, “Thank you Lord but can you work that fast all the time? I would really appreciate it.” Both of these friends are non-believers. Laura, the first to contact me, is someone I have known for around 2 years. Logan, is someone that I used to be best friends with but grew apart when I started to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I was so torn of who to interview. I knew God brought me both of them for a reason. As I sat there weighing to see who I should choose, I decided to interview both. For you to understand both of them a little more, let me give you a brief summary of who they each are. Laura is an Oil and Gas lawyer in downtown Houston. I met her at a bible study Christmas party 2 years ago. She was and still is an atheist. Nevertheless, we hit off instantly and have been friends ever since. Logan is someone, like I stated earlier, who I used to best friends, but with unfortunately we grew apart. Logan is a 22-year-old male student at University of Houston...

It085 - Organizational Behaviour Journal

...Organizational Behaviour Journal 10th Dec'2012 Session 1: Introduction to the field of organizational behaviour Reflection : Even after working in Information Technology MNC's for almost four years, I never realised that organizational behaviour plays such a pivotal role in the survival of an organization and its employees. I got to know about how both the entities: organization and employee are interdependent and their survival depends on an important factor called Organizational Behaviour. I understood that to get a bird's eye view about any organization, first I need to understand about the organizational behaviour. Organization is a complex open system that depends on external environment for effective functioning. I believe that the intellectual capital is definitely a valuable asset and its sharing can be a growth factor for organization. For an effective management, we need to go through planning, organizing, leading and controlling aspects of a job in hand. Management and leadership must be important traits for a manager to enable team and organization to achieve more than just task completion. I need to develop soft skills and hard skills in a proper ratio i.e. conceptual, human and technical skills to be an effective manager in future. Also learnt how important are values and ethics to an organization and about its responsibility towards the society (CSR). Understood the fact that more globalization and increasing workforce diversity has changed the structure...

The Sat Essay

...The SAT Essay: Building a Repertoire of Examples The SAT essay is intended to measure your writing skills, not your knowledge of any specific subject. Therefore, the essay prompts given on the SAT must be fairly open-ended, so that anyone with a highschool education and life experiences common to all teenagers can respond to them. Most of them deal with basic philosophical, psychological, moral, or social issues. In my experience as a teacher, I’ve seen that the biggest challenge students face in writing the SAT essay is coming up with rich and relevant examples to discuss within the twenty-five minutes you’re given for the essay section. Quite often, students end up using examples that are inappropriate or superficial, or they don’t know enough about the examples they’ve chosen to write about them in detail. The way to combat this problem is to create your own repertoire of examples that you are well prepared to write detailed paragraphs about. Then, when you read the prompt you’re given on the day of the test, you can simply choose the examples from your repertoire that are most relevant to that particular topic. (Of course, this method isn’t fullproof; it may happen that you are unfortunate enough to get a topic that your prepared examples aren’t really appropriate for. If that’s the case, don’t try to force your examples to fit the topic. The process of coming up with these examples and writing several practice essays will also help you learn how to come up with new examples...

...BECOMING AN EFFECTIVE GLOBAL LEADER (Chapter 30 of "Coaching for Leadership" Jossey-Bass/Pfeiffer, 2000) Maya Hu-Chan, Jeremy Solomons, and Carlos E. Marin “To lead the people, walk behind them” (Lao-Tzu) “In a beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities. In an expert’s there are none.” (Zen Master Suzuki Roshi) Nature versus Nurture Although there may never be a definitive answer to the nature versus nurture question, most people will agree that no amount of nurturing can make someone into a global leader if he or she does not have a fundamental desire, passion, and talent to be one. And no potential leader, however naturally gifted he or she may be, can become fully realized without a tremendous amount of nurturing. Throughout childhood and adolescence, even the divinely reincarnated Dalai Lama had to undergo intense and lengthy preparation for his weighty role as the spiritual leader of Tibet. But the preparation does not stop at the onset of adulthood; in some ways, it is only just starting. Potential global leaders must continue their formal education by expanding their theoretical and technical knowledge in various arenas of higher learning, but they must also begin to live the reality of being a global leader through practical experience, particularly traveling, living and working in cultures and countries that are not familiar to them. 1 Are global leaders born? Or are they made? Is global leadership an innate competency? Or is it an acquired skill, learned...
