Prahalad Jani or Mataji is an Indian sadhu (saint) and is a devotee of deity Amba.
He claims to have lived without food and water since 1940, and says that the goddess Amba sustains him. Prahlad Jani, says that he is surviving by chanting mantras and by meditating for goddess Amba.
Prahlad Jani has been kept under observations 2 times to know the medical reason behind his claim and also to prove his claim of living without food or water from 1940. He believes that the goddess Amba provides him with a water like sustainable liquid inside his body to keep him alive.
Till now 2 observational studies has been made, one in 2003 and another in 2010 to prove his claim or to deny it. Many expert neurologists monitored Jani and they were surprised by the result. The experts confirmed Jani's ability to survive without food or water but the claim was not proven due to many allegations relating to the procedure of tests conducted.

Observational Conditions :
- Jani was examined daily for checking his vital statistics.
- Prahlad Jani was made to stay in a sealed room for 10 days.
- He was provided just 100 milliliters of water a day for mouth wash.
- The room's toilet was sealed off and Cameras were installed to monitor.
- No Food / water (except that 100ml) was provided for 10 days straight.

Conclusions drawn from the above Observation :
- Some liquid was found in his bladder.
- Jani was perfectly healthy after that 10 days of observation.
- His weight was reduced slightly and he didn't urinate or defecate.

The Moore family consisted of parents Josiah B. (aged 43), Sarah (née Montgomery) (39), and their four children: Herman Montgomery (11), Mary Katherine (10), Arthur Boyd (7), and Paul Vernon (5). An affluent family, the Moores were well-known and well-liked in their community.[1] On June 9, 1912, Katherine Moore invited Ina Mae (8) and Lena Gertrude Stillinger (12) to spend the night at the Moore residence. That evening, the visiting girls and the Moore family attended the Presbyterian church where they participated in the Children's Day Program, which Sarah Moore had coordinated. After the program ended at 9:30 p.m., the Moores and the Stillinger sisters walked to the Moores' house, arriving between 9:45 and 10 p.m.

Unfortunately for the six members of the Moore family, we are entirely sure that what happened to them actually happened. And what happened is particularly gruesome. At some point between the evening of June 9, 1912, and early morning of June 10, 1912, the family and two house guests were bludgeoned to death in their rural Iowan home. All eight victims, including six children, suffered severe head wounds from an axe. And the murderer is still on the loose.
Well, possibly not. They’re probably elderly and/or dead by now, but still, they got away with it. The affluent family had a pretty good social standing in the Villisca community, friendly with all their neighbours. If they weren’t, then they might not have been discovered so quickly; on member of the town thought it strange they hadn’t appeared to do their morning chores, as they did every day outside the house at 7am sharp, and it’s that neighbour who raised the alarm of the horrific scenes inside.
The killer – or killers – had methodically gone from room to room, killing each member of the household in their sleep with an axe – or axes. There have been numerous suspects, from a hobo passing through town to a travelling minister to an elaborate conspiracy theory involving an Iowa state senator hiring a serial killer to do the family in, because the elder Moore had stolen business by opening a more successful tool store than the senator had. The reverend was tried twice, and acquitted each time.
The Villisca Axe Murder House, as it has been delightfully redubbed, has since been renovated and is now a tourist attraction, as a company gives guided tours and talks up the possibility of the house being haunted. It probably isn’t haunted, but the town still is, because despite being such a grizzly murder and in such a small town, the killings have never been solved.

Suspects
Frank Jones was a Villisca resident and an Iowa State Senator. Josiah Moore had worked for Frank Jones at his implement store for many years before leaving to open his own store. Moore reportedly took business away from Jones, including a very successful John Deere dealership. Moore was rumored to have had an affair with Jones’ daughter-in-law, though no evidence supports this
At the inquest, it was reported that Sam Moyer (Josiah's brother-in-law) often threatened to kill Josiah Moore; however, upon further investigation, Moyer's alibi cleared him of the crime.[5]

Free Will and Determinism

...believes that his/her actions are due to chance or happen because the action is chosen. The problem with this premise is that if it were due to chance than one cannot be held responsible for his/her actions because he/she did not choose to do anything. If the action was due to choice than there should be a cause as to why one chose one thing over the other. In other words, an act is only free when an outside force has not caused it, and everything one does is determined. In Peter van Inwagen’s Powers of Rational Beings: Freedom of the Will, he argues that we have free will and it is incompatible with determinism. van Inwagen argues that if determinism were true if the universe were rolled back to a previous state then the history of the world would repeat itself. No matter how many times this was to happen, the outcome would always be the same. Determinism says that out of all the possible choices we think we have only one is actually physically connected to the present. Even though he agrees that only one is physically connected, van Inwagen also believes that the other, disconnected choices, are still open to us. For van Inwagen, if free will and determinism co-exist, then someone is able to do something not contained in that one possible future that is consistent both with the past and the laws of nature. If determinism is...

Mona Lisa

...Professor Turner AR115 27 September 2014 The Mystery Surrounding Mona Lisa Mona Lisa is one of Leonardo da Vinci’s most poetic and famous pictures he painted. Painted in 1503-1505 with oil on a panel, the meaning of this most recognized painting in the world has left many wondering about the portrait’s meaning and why it has changed over time (Harris & Zucker, 2012). The evolution around the Mona Lisa painting has grown over the centuries after it was completed. This and many other of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting and writing has became ever so popular because of who the artist is and the detail and technique that he used in them. Another reason the it fascinates me and many others is when you are looking into her eyes they seem to follow you where ever you move. This gives an erie feeling that people in the recent decades thrive for in today’s decade. The painting is also very mysteries. Who is Mona Lisa? Who was she posing for? What is the little smirk on her face? As most of the portraits that were see in that era there are no smiling faces, a blank look if you will. Many say that Mona Lisa is the wife of a Florentine merchant and the painting was intended for her husband (Harris & Zucker, 2012). After Leonardo had finished the painting it was never given to the husband and Leonardo decided to keep it for himself as he went to work for the King of France, Francis I and why that is to this day remains a mystery (Harris & Zucker, 2012). Portraits were very rare...

Business Excellence

...Telephone Sales Mystery Shopping Program By Doug Kennedy Tuesday, 20 July 2010 With most hotels and call centers seeing an increase in inquiry calls as demand rebounds in markets, it is more important than ever for your frontline sales representatives to maximize their call conversions and total revenue sold vs. goal. Depending on the type of lodging operation or call center, and of course your targeted market segments, this might include group sales managers, reservations agents, or even front desk staff. One great tool for maximizing your team’s overall sales effectiveness is to implement an ongoing mystery shopping assessment and coaching program. When properly organized and implemented, mystery shopping reports can help all telephone sales agents provide a less transactional, more conversational, caller-focused sales experience. Unfortunately too many mystery shopping programs fall short of actualizing their potential as an assessment and coaching tool and instead actually reinforce a culture of transactional selling in an effort to meet an outmoded checklist criteria. Often this is the result of the organizer of the mystery shopper, whether in-house training department or an outside service, fails to overcome the many challenges and potential pitfalls of this service. Below are training tips and suggestions I’ve learned, often the hard way, for overcoming some common obstacles in the hotel mystery shopping business: * “I just knew it was a mystery shop call.” Hotel...

An Analysis of the Duck and the Swan

...on War Around the world and across centuries, wars have, perhaps to their sole credit, given rise to a pantheon of soul-shaking literature unique to a specific kind of emotion: hopelessness. The underlying theme of this anthology will strive to lay bare this emotion through the short fiction of some of the finest writers in the world, and some lesser known ones. While some of the works in this proposed anthology will show an insider’s point of view, some others will tear open similar wounds from the pens of civilians. These selected stories of war and warriors will include Stephen Crane’s uncanny analytical vision and his depiction of the ‘beauty of war’ and Emile Zola’s brutal obsession with the essence of battles – courage, carnage, and carcass. It will include Tolstoy’s photographic portrayal of war as he saw it, revealing in its undertones, his subsequent pacifism. It hopes to include HH Munro, whose voluntary enlistment to serve the army in World War I led to many poignant prose-poetry extravaganzas in his body of fiction. Along with other unforgettable war writers like John Galsworthy, Willa Cather, and Rudyard Kipling, this anthology will strive to showcase a blend of writers and writing styles that bring out the hopelessness of manmade strife. Fiction Is Stranger: An Anthology of Mystery Stories Weird or logical, supernatural or thrilling, few things get the adrenalin going like a good mystery. Having developed over the past two centuries, mystery fiction is amongst...

Martin Heidegger Philosophy

...reflect on what consequences these issues have on religious thinking. It is important to point out that Heidegger’s philosophy is extremely complex and he never completed his second half of his endeavour, hence a brief explication will not do his thinking justice but a complete explanation is outside the scope of this essay. Therefore, in this essay I will primarily focus on Heidegger’s five key concepts; i) the transience of reality, ii) human existence, iii) Being-in-the world, iv) objects and things and v) metaphysics and Being. The transience of reality This ‘transience of reality’ according to Heidegger reflects the idea that everything is “temporary and changeable” (RST3708 Study Guide 2008:59). Whereas modern subjectivism refers to the “attitude in terms of which the whole of reality is traced back to the subject” (RST3708 Study Guide 2008:58), Heidegger contends that reality exists before the subject can be identified, as written in the Study Guide (RST3708 Study Guide 2008:58), “reality as a mystery has already happened”. Heidegger claims that only once a comprehensive examination is made into Being, will there be space for a new revelation, a “postsubjectivist experience – of reality”...

Blue Velvet & a Wild Sheep Chase

...fundamentally conscious of the world around us, but for many it is with blinders. Everyone has their own version of reality, how the world works and how they think the world should work. Quite often we live comfortably in our own realities and sometimes we struggle in them. Reality can differ from person to person and other times our realities match oneanother. Is the world we think we know real, or are we dreaming? Sometimes in living and struggling with our own realities we miss another struggle, the struggle between good and evil. It is an age old struggle between the light and the dark for dominance over our realities. “All wills struggle for domination, independence, and power over one another, which is the source of change in the universe.” (Friedrich Nietzsche Beyond Good and Evil)Such is the case with Blue Velvet and A wild Sheep Chase. In watching Blue Velvet and reading A Wild Sheep Chase we get an inside look at what happens when two conflicting realities butt heads, when light and innocence fights head on with dark and evil. In Blue Velvet and A Wild Sheep Chase, the main characters become involved in mysteries. They both lead seemingly normal, simple, even boring lives. Absorbed in their own realities of how their worlds work. In both stories the main characters are forced to become involved with scary, powerful men. One throws himself into the mystery, willingly and the other, a seemingly innocent bystander, is pulled into the mystery.  A Wild Sheep Chase seems to...

...Compare and Contrast Essay Remaking the World by Brule Sioux and Montezuma and The Great Flood by Papago are both excellent pieces of Native American literature. The stories share similar characteristics such as looking up to a God-like figure also know as a Creating Power or Great Mystery Power. Remaking the World contains the story of how the world was created, but also what it took to create this world. The Creating Power had made a world, but he was not satisfied by how the people had behaved, so he decided to create a new one. Throughout the story, the Creating Power is shown as a powerful person who has the ability to teach and bring people and animals together. The Creating Power said to them: “Now if you have learned how to behave like human beings and how to live in peace with each other and other living beings- the two-legged, the four-legged, the many-legged, the fliers, the no-legs, the green plants of this universe- then all will be well. But if you make this world bad and ugly, then I will destroy this world too. It’s up to you”. Montezuma and The Great Flood have a similar character known as The Great Mystery Power. This character guides the leader, Montezuma on a journey of how to teach his people the necessities of life such as making baskets and cooking food. Bermuda Triangle Conspiracy Essay

...Bermuda Triangle When countless planes and ships unexpectedly vanish without any evidence, an enigma is formed, like that of the Bermuda Triangle. “The enigma is that more ships and planes disappear in this area, in fair weather, more than in any other place in the world, for no readily explainable reason,” (Quasar). However, the U.S. Navy fails to even recognize the Bermuda Triangle and claims that the mystery is really no mystery at all but a mere coincidence (“Bermuda Triangle”). How can we know the real truth of the matter without evidence? Using the facts provided, many have researched this area to generate theories in order to fill the gaps of knowledge with explanations, however realistic they may be. The Bermuda Triangle, or the Devil’s Triangle (Krystek), is commonly perceived as the area within Bermuda, Miami, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico in the Atlantic Ocean (Quasar). This area between 500,000 and 1,510,000 square miles (“The Bermuda Triangle”) is often overwhelmed with cargo, cruise, and private ships as well as private and commercial planes traveling through its boundaries (Crystal)....

Exploring Ancient Mysteries

...------------------------------------------------- The Mystery of King Tut HUM 111 – World Cultures 1 NANCY RHETT MAY 1, 2016 Professor Mayhall The Mystery of Tutankhamen is one that has been written about before Howard Carter found the tomb on November 26, 1922. The mystery is what did King Tut die of? : illness, murder, or an accident. King tut was very young when he died and there are only theories as what caused his death. One theory is by Howard Carter. He did a virtual autopsy that revealed the stunning discovery. The pattern of injuries down on side of his body, including shattered ribs and pelvis, were consistent with injuries caused by being struck by a high chariot. Computer simulations of chariot accidents were put together by expert crash investigator suggest that the chariot stuck King Tut while he was on his knees. Another theory is that King Tut died from gangrene as a result of a broken bone. Scientists ran a CT Scan of King Tut’s mummified body and found a severe fracture in his lower left femur, which appeared to be different than the breaks caused by Carter’s team because it had ragged rather than sharp edges and there appeared to be two layer of embalming material present inside the facture. I am more convinced...
