...of questionnaires, interviews and observations to conduct what is needed in the assessments. -Questionnaires: This will be an assessment where they will be anonymous. This will hopefully allow for the people who do not want to come forward to give their input on the subject without being identified. - Interviews: By interviewing people who could possibly be involved and alumni who have taken similar course I should be able to identify areas that need major improvements along with areas that seemed to work well but might need slight improvement. -Observation: This will give me the ability to see in action what is working and what is not. By observing the class and what is happening daily gives great insight on what to improve and what might need a complete overhaul. I can also observe how this will work in a professional environment and what might need to be changed depending on the environment, community and possible employment. 2. When it comes to patient care many people seem to forget that little things that mean so much to the patient. As asking how their day is or if they have any fun plans for the weekend. When asking people what they thought was needed the number one answer I got was compassion. As healthcare professionals who see a lot of patients daily the compassion part sometimes gets missed. By having goals to help the students understand the difference in people, their needs and the simple compassion will go a long way. 3. Question I would ask would be: ...

...Running head: SPRITUALITY NEED ASSESMENT Spirituality Need Assessment Elsamma Philip Grand Canyon University HLT- 310 V Verree Laughlin June 10, 2012 Spirituality Need Assessment Introduction Numerous studies conducted showed positive correlation between spirituality and treatment outcomes (Oakley, P.T., D.H.Sc, Katz, Sauer, Dent, & Millar, 2010). Therefore spiritual needs of the patient must be meet by the healthcare professional. The spiritual needs of the patient can be analyzed and recognized in the process of spiritual assessment. The spiritual assessment consists of a survey/ questionnaire that helps the caregiver get information on the patients spiritual demands. The spiritual assessment allows the healthcare provider to meet the spiritual demands of the patient and their family. This enables the patient to receive holistic treatment which includes recognizing and responding to the physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional needs of the patient (Bruce, 2007). According to the joint commission anyone who is trained on the value of spiritual assessment and tools such as physicians, therapists, nurses, and clinical pastoral staff can assess the patient’s spirituality (Evaluating your Spiritual Assessment Process, 2005). The Joint Commission has also provided some guidelines to create a spiritual assessment that would meet the spiritual demands of the patient. Using these guidelines, a spiritual assessment is made to assess the...

...Needs Assessment Process Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you for looking into the possible needs that can be used at your facility based on my experience as a public health nurse. The steps I would take in order to assess this population are by using the nursing process. “In practice, the assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, and planning steps may take several months are an essential precursor to the action phase of the process” (Smith & Bazini-Barakat, 2003, p. 47). This essential tool used in nurse’s daily lives can be used to determine the needs of the geriatric community at the Centerville Area Agency. I will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate. In order to assess the population in question I must evaluate data collected during a quantitative and qualitative study. A survey will be done by each individual member about services they wish should be included to better their healthy lifestyle. A survey also will be done to obtain information about how they remain hydrated and tools used. This quantitative study will provide information about how to tackle the goal at hand which is decreasing the incidence of dehydration in the elderly greater than 65 years of age. Also, a qualitative study would be done to interview patients and obtain firsthand information about how they remain hydrated and what can they do to improve on hydrating themselves. “..qualitative research will find a route to the goal of influencing practice” (Morse & Clark, 2010...

...Informatics Needs Assessment HCS/482 December 22, 2014 Matthew Taylor Informatics Needs Assessment Electronic charting is the move from paper charting to electronic charting. Soon all hospitals and physician offices will make this transition. When an organization if ready to make this change they should consider a needs assessment and use the recommendations made based on the results of the assessment. The purpose of this paper is to explain how and why a needs assessment must be completed before a new electronic health records may be selected. This paper will describe some of the factors that need to be considered in the needs assessment. I will also explain what data should be collected and how or where I can access it. The last thing I will describe is who I would consult and why. The purpose of the needs assessment is to define the gap between an organization’s current state and the needs of the organization with specific attention to the strategic plan (Hebda & Czar, 2013, p. 155). The needs assessment will assist in selecting the electronic health records that will fit the needs of the organization or practice. The process of the assessment should start with the development of a steering committee which should be multidisciplinary. The committee should use the mission and visionary statements to determine the goals. The members of each committee should state what they need from the system (Hebda & Czar, 2013, p. 158). I will discuss the processes that take place...

...Defining Needs Assessment By: Thomas Ferguson Argosy University Training and Development MGT430 Instructor Martin Dibello November 26, 2014 Defining Needs Assessment By: Thomas Ferguson In my own words and interpretation is that “needs assessment” is based on the following: * Assessment of the employee training program * Assessment of current knowledge of company policy, expectations, goals etc. * Assessment of current ability of current employees; meaning they have to know sales, financial status, customer service and customer knowledge, as well as trends in the local market, etc. * Financial understanding of current training programs and progress of current employees as well as past employees. * Ensuring that management is understanding of their programs as well as success and trouble areas. * Ensuring that management is up to changes where needed and support when things do change with intentions of progress. * Interview employees as well as management to see where the moral is and determine what direction would be best for the company...

...What is a “Needs Assessment”? From Wikipedia: “A needs assessment is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or "gaps" between current conditions and desired conditions or "wants". The discrepancy between the current condition and wanted condition must be measured to appropriately identify the need.” To us at our facility, this is the basis for project creation and more specifically the creation of training materials. When a department requests our assistance in the creation of a course, the very first thing we need to ascertain is the “Gap”. What is the performance gap? We define the “Performance Gap” as the portion between where we are as a unit, department or section and where we optimally would like to be. In a given setting there are a series of tasks that together comprise a job function. The inability to perform any of these tasks can be detrimental to the job function and cause a breakdown in the organization. In researching the reason a given task is not being performed, we look at personnel and training aspects. If a person can perform a task due to lack of knowledge, then the performance gap is a training issue. If the person can’t perform the task due to facility or building constraints, then we deem the breakdown a process issue. Figure 1. Training Needs Assessment Flowchart When conducting a needs analysis we are seeking to identify the “needs” as areas for improvement. These areas can then be addressed in a more specific way to...

...Need is an important concept in social work and it is sometimes difficult to define. According to the Oxford dictionary, ‘need is defined as requiring something because it is essential or very important rather than just desirable.’ Doyal and Gough (1991), define need in terms of physical survival and personal autonomy. However, some would argue that there are basic needs for economic and physical security, accommodation, food, clothing and social relationships that must be met in a civilised society but there is a relative dimension to need also. Therefore, what is seen as adequate in terms of meeting basic needs and the means through which they can be met, will vary over time, both historically and over the life course, as well as across different cultures. These definitions has led to focusing on two different approaches to understanding the concept of need. The first is Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (1943). Maslow’s hierarchy is commonly displayed in a pyramid fashion, with the basic needs at the bottom and the higher needs at the top. The needs were depicted in this way to show the significance of each need on the others, with the most significant and broadest category being the physiological needs at the base (Redmond, 2010). Maslow’s Basic-Order Needs: Physiological needs are basic needs that are necessary for one’s survival, such as food, oxygen, shelter and sleep. These needs must be met before moving to satisfy needs higher in order. Safety needs includes the...

...Gung Ho Training in Organization Need Assessment, Development, and Evaluation Peer Shmelzer-Moratin MGMT 3441 HPU Term 2 2012 Gung Ho is a 1986 Ron Howard comedy film, released by Paramount Pictures, and starring Michael Keaton and Gedde Watanabe. The film's story portrayed the takeover of an American car plant by a Japanese corporation. While it might seem like just another fun movie to watch on a Friday night, it is actually a great movie with great lesson to teach to those who underestimate the power of training. Training is defined as the systematic acquisition of skills, rules, concepts, or attitudes that result in improved performance in another environment (Goldstein 1). The above movie is great example of how training can lead to much better results and performance. Irwin Goldstein, a leader in the training field, teams up with Kevin Ford and wrote "Training in Organization” to provide readers with a framework for examining and establishing viable training programs in education, business, and government. Capturing the excitement of training research and systems issues, the author discusses training as it occurs in real organizations. In their book they present different types of training programs and their effectiveness, ways in which training needs to be assessed and evaluated. With today’s technology the concern for utilizing training systems and developing new ones increase. Trainers are struggling with how to work with teams. The movie Gung Ho presents...

...Needs assessment A needs assessments is a process for determining the needs of the organization and establish the weaknesses or gaps between current conditions, and the desired conditions. Addressing first, the environmental analysis of the firm where we can understand the economy, and laws behind the environment. Then we move onto the organizational, demographic, operational, and individual analyses. Environmental analysis of the type of organization along with the area in which it has plants to expand are key objectives in developing a needs assessment for Clapton Commercial Construction. Understanding the current laws in Detroit Michigan that Clapton Commercial Construction already adhere too will go a long way in developing a needs assessment in this area. After taking current State and Federal policies and adjusting them to work with Arizona’s policies Clapton Commercial Construction will have a better understanding of what needs they have. In any environmental analysis there should be a SWOT, or PEST analysis done. These tools help the organization understand and address strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats the organization may be facing. Which laws and which policies have the most impact to the new location. An environmental analysis is used to develop a long-term plan for all areas of the needs assessments. Organizational analysis helps us evaluate performance within the current system. A construction company has a larger need for safety, for example over...

...Informatics Needs Assessment Susan Hauck University of Phoenix HCS/482 Health Care Informatics Lynn Bertsch April 4, 2016 Informatics Needs Assessment A needs assessment is simply a systematic approach to assessing how an organization can operate more effectively (Hebda, 2013). Efficiency enhances quality of care and saves money in the long run, but if the wrong Electronic Health Record system is selected it will cost the organization time and money (Carter, 2015). Anyone who is organized and detailed orientated can orchestrate a needs assessment (Carter, 2015). Needs Assessment Why and How A needs assessment bridges the gap between the current state and the organizations strategic plans (Hebda, 2013). Keeping in mind that not all problems can be solved using the EHR (Lorenzi, Kouroubali, Detmer, & Bloomrosen, 2016). In addition to the EHR the organization should assess policies, employee training and other resources as solutions (Lorenzi et al., 2016). Additionally, an assessment of the organizations readiness to change and the personnel’s ability to accept and apply new technology are important. Key to implementing a needs assessment and purchasing an EHR is assigning an innovative person that is able to visualize the future improved by the right EHR, that person is called the Champion (Lorenzi et al., 2016). The Champion will help lead and organize the Steering Committee, a select group of personnel with varying levels of education to purchase...

As the economy continues to shift up and down, the management team of Exel has to make sure that each department is focusing on delivering customer satisfaction, that may include “international express, overland transport, and air freight” (Exel, 2011). Since information technology (IT) continues to change and is the number one source of most companies, the Exel organization should incorporate a needs assessment which involves “the process of evaluating the organization, individual employees, and employees’ tasks to determine what kinds of training, if any are necessary into their organization” (Noe, el.tl.2009) Pg.11. ...Needs Assessment I. Introduction As a result of our research on sexual violence, its prevalence, and its impact on our society were able to identify a service gap within our local communities. A core nonprofit agency, ContactLifeline, Inc. specifically targets people affected by sexual violence and crisis. We interviewed people in the community, local educators, students, and key staff from ContactLifeline Inc. to gather professional opinions and opinions of our fellow community members and educators to see how these service gaps may have affected them or may not have. We discovered that ContactLifeline is a nonprofit agency that provides specific services to sexual assault and rape survivors for the entire state of Delaware. ContactLifeline offers many options for survivors to receive multiple kinds of aftercare services, free of charge, but we noticed that their efforts in prevention were not being met on a full scale by our school system in an effective long term manner. We asked what is being done by our local schools to provide and promote education on this specific topic. What is being done to educate our youth on what healthy relationships and sexual behaviors are so that most importantly we see a decrease in victims and are not spending so much time and money on aftercare? This needs assessment addresses this service gap in depth and provides a possible policy change within our local school districts and potentially a state wide adaption of a sexual education...
