...Macbeth vs Odyssues Often in literature, the view we have on the strengths of a character is frequently stereotyped, some characteristics being seen as a strong leader who can defeat anyone with a single punch. However, this isn’t the case, there is more to strengths, including, intelligence, charisma, and cleverness, which allow individuals to be strong and overcome challenges without issues. In the epic of the Odyssey, written by Greek author Homer, the main character Odysseus follows this core example of showing intellect over strength. These characteristics allow Odyssey to overcome near death experiences and return to his home island of Ithica. As for the gullible king, Macbeth, he doesn’t follow any case of Odysseus. ...hospiliaity can be shown in the first books of the Odyssesy with the unwanted company of the suitors. These young men moved into Odyyuses house while he was held captive on the island of Calypso. They occupy his great house and slaughter his finest cattle while trying to court his wife. These unwanted guest have no respect for his land and, since having nobody to oppose them, have no intention of leaving until Penelope has decided on a new groom. This is a prime example of bad mannered ignorance on the guest’ part. We see the varying ways host or guest in the epic have demonstrated good or poor hospitality and the efffects it had on the people involving them. With the Kingdom of the Phaeacians we see the King and Queen treat Odyssues as an honored guest and in return, odysseus acknowledges the mightiness of the palace and its people. On the other side of the spectrum we see the suitors and their unwanted behavior angers Telemachus and Athene which, in turn, Telemachus sets out for his father to bring him back to drive out the unwanted guest. From this, we can see that the characters who showed respect to their host reaped better rewards, while the impolite guest only brewed hatred among others....

He felt guilty because he had died. Some of the people who had died, it was their goal to climb Everest, and they died on it. Odysseus had men who had families back on Ithica, but they all died as well. Both Krakauer and Odyssues were feeling guilt about their peers not making it; but they did make it. As you can see, Krakauer and Odysseus both face many internal challenges which are similar to each other’s, but not quite the same. Nor how they handled it was the same, but some of it was similar. ...
