My Imaginative View of the Characters Of Mice and Men At the beginning of the book John Steinbeck describes George Milton as “…small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features.” I immediately imagined a man roughly five feet and six inches, because it took me back to Napoleon and how he wasn’t pleased with his height. He was considered short, since he was only five feet and seven inches, so whenever I hear someone is small or short, I always imagine them in the five feet and six-inch range. He isn’t a very approachable guy as I get the sense that from afar, he looks very serious and not much of a talker, but when you get to know him better he is the complete opposite. He makes you feel like you have known him for years, and you're once again reuniting and catching up. While he is shy himself, he sucks it up and speaks with confidence. I imagine George’s facial features as being very masculine. He has a sharp jawline, rough skin, and a full-grown beard and mustache, but he is always shaving it off. He never lets it grow because it bothers him, and it feels like it is getting in his way. He has an average body, he is neither slim nor fat, but you can tell he is a strong man. George reminds me of one of my uncles. Mostly because the way of describing them correlate with each other so perfectly, from features to posture. George seems like the kind of man who isn’t very educated, but is street smart, he could on for hours talking about cars, crops, or how to build something.
