Thesis Statement: Attending classes online can be a very unique experience to the independent learner. Even though, it requires a great amount of discipline and self-control, it allows students who may not have the time to attend college on campus, an opportunity to earn their degree at their own pace.

1. Independent learners can learn at their own pace. * Some students learn better at their own pace by reading and executing the information they read, rather than being in a classroom setting. * Independent learners gain more esteem when completing their assignments and being able to monitor their grades.

2. Students with full-time jobs and families can attend college on their own time. * Online classes provide the opportunity to schedule school around household and work duties. * Mothers such as myself, may experience extreme stressors attending traditional on campus college, due to scheduling alone.

3. Technology provides easier access for people who are constantly on-the-go * Makes the learner excited when viewing school assignments in a graphic design * Being able to access lectures and assignments from technological devices makes attending school less boring.

Conclusion: Every learner is different, and everyone learns at their own pace. Attending college online may not be the best idea for people who struggle with attention and concentration issues. But for people who can thoroughly read, comprehend, and execute their ideas, online classes may be the answer to their

Instuctional Strategies and Learning Materials

...Materials The training program for Dan McGuinness Irish Pub will be carried out by The manager, Brad O’Sullivan, and head server, Tony Ainsley. Both have had many years of experience in the restaurant and bar field, and will bring that experience to the table for the duration of the course. The company believes the best way to handle the training, is to treat everyone who participates as if they are brand new to the business. The company understands this may cause some of the more experienced participants to become frustrated, but the company believes everyone should start at the beginning and learn together. Instructional Strategies The management at Dan McGuinness believes it is important for the course to be informative, instructional, and just as important, fun. Much of the groundwork in the classes will be familiar to many of the more experienced personnel, however the company believes any member of staff coming into the business for the first time will benefit from the more experienced personnel. The first strategy to be put in place will be to set up learning teams; each team will include an experienced person as team leader. During the course of the program, there will be situational roll playing; this will be overseen by the experienced personnel because they will most likely have had experience in dealing with most situations the server, or bartender will have to deal with. The two main instructors, Mr. O’Sullivan, and Mr Ainsley, will teach their respective area...

The Coming Era of ‘on Demand’ Marketing (Precis)

...and what sort of experience are they looking for? These are the questions that McKinsey consultants Dahlström and Edelman (herein referred to as ‘McKinsey’) aim to shed light upon to help companies prepare themselves for this changing world. McKinsey believes that emerging technologies will mean that consumers demand a radically different, personalized experience from companies. Sensors in devices, the Internet of Things, the rise of Big Data and the ubiquity of smartphones will hasten the current shift in the balance between consumers and brands, adding a physical dimension to previously virtual transactions. And customers will want these experiences in real time and almost everywhere. The way customers judge brands is changing. Gone were the days that our brands are judged based on the quality of one’s marketing efforts, customer-service, or of the product/service individually. In this on-demand world, consumers will judge brands by their ability to deliver heightened experiences, which McKinsey defines as interactions that offer high levels of value and are radically customized and easy to access, across the entire customer decision journey. Relevant and unique, tailored, and seamless experience is the key. So what can companies do to adapt to these changes? Companies must change what and how they deliver by finding ways to engage customers, by assessing on every way a customer engages with the company, and finally, by creating awesome experiences for their customers...

...well, I must be pretty much on par. I knew I had facts and figures to learn, but obviously I operated on a similar level. But then I turned 10, and I could plainly see how much sophistication I lacked when I was only 6. I’ll skip the montage, you get it, this is an ongoing process. But think about this. Now that you’re an adult, when is the last time you can remember being young and dumb? What is the oldest you can remember being, when you were a categorically different person? I remember turning 18, and I’m talking to this girl online for a couple months, and fast forward a year and I’ve eloped with her. That was dumb. I’m 21, I’m spending a lot of my week as an officer in this “business fraternity” at my third tier business school because I have this vague idea that it’s a “great networking opportunity,” whatever the fuck that means. That was pretty dumb. It gets fuzzier at that point. As an adult you have fewer growth experiences than you do as a child, so it takes longer. The gap between now and when you were young and dumb gets longer and longer. That’s a bad thing. I have a theory that you should strive to keep that gap as short as possible. Every year you should look back and think about what a dumbass you were a year ago. That way, you know you’re growing. To phrase it another way, if you look back and don’t see how much of a dumbass you were a year ago, then you’re still the same dumbass from a year ago. 2. The perception of time passing is controlled...

English Discussion

...Why is building a working knowledge of a subject critically important to the success of research writing? What is involved in this process and how can you, or should you, adapt this process to the online academic environment? Why, even as online students, is it not a good idea to consider a quick Google search good enough? When it comes to the importance of building working knowledge of a subject, it makes you have to search for the correct sources and make sure that you're getting all of the correct facts for your research papers. For my personal experience, the process is to do your normal searches, but when you click and look at a link I look for the author of said article or website I'm researching, and making sure that they are a credible source (Dr. PHD, etc.) or if they're from a trust worthy company with a solid knowledge background. A "good" Google search is not the best idea, because there are sites that claim they know their stuff, but in actuality, their facts are either incorrect or made up. Their facts may in fact be correct, but for a different subject that their article is not even about. There are also many sites that can be changed and altered by anyone. There's so many websites that anyone can change because literally everyone has access to change the information to whatever they please, so you never know if the information is truly correct if anyone has permission to change the article. Which is why I look for credible sites with credible authors, companies...

...( Now are able to move into a specific application, databases! How exciting, right? I will be asking some time this week what experience everyone has with databases, but we will not be expecting people to create one or work with one. But, first, let’s examine why this is valuable to us and to our organizations. Organizing Data and Information…now that is a challenge for us today given the overwhelming amount of data available today. One could read the title of this chapter and not anticipate that the theory of database design and management would be included. Some authors consider this to be a key element and have clearly indicated the role and influence of database theory and practice is essential. A well-managed organization and IS department can be compared with a well-designed and functioning database. [pic] Source: http://www.datawarehouse4u.info/images/data_warehouse_architecture.jpg The effort this week will not attempt to present the entirety of database analysis, design, maintenance, and management, but will present an overview of it. For those of you who are not experienced or expert in any programming languages, our treatment will be a huge sigh of relief, because we will not create any databases. We will leave that for those other courses. But I would ask that everyone post as part of their notes how much experience you have in creating databases (and if you don’t have any, what you’d like in a database that would be created for you). With the...

...volatile industry of their operations, the same truth is more apparent to Waitrose due to their encompassing scale and obligatory coordination. One of which is to properly respond to consumer demand, specifically; ensuring the hired personal have the specifications and instruction to exercise accurate knowledge regarding a particular or fields of product /service which may interest the consumer. Example in regards to Waitrose could be directional (layout of store), or on occasion recommendatory (gluten free, lactose intolerance). In addition, qualified I.T professionals for online assistance also have to be as noted, qualified. It would be a futile contradiction of successful business practise to worsen the experience of a customer, even if it’s simply a convenience of time. Qualified staff ensures that not only does the consumer have an easier time of navigating their specific issues, but also a more pleasant experience with managerial coordination; being aware that personal are properly qualified in their respected fields of operations allows for target setting to be more accurately set and subsequently competed on a preferential time-scale (the opposite may entail a target not even being successful at all). This culture of professional awareness and reliance does a lot to make employees, though foremost people feel more comfortable at work and as such more inclined and subsequently motivated....

Xerox Case Study

...practice are defined as “groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and who interacts regularly to learn how to do it better” (Wenger, E., 2006). These communities bring employees together through social networking to share wisdom and knowledge of highly experienced workers; this type of information is not that of which you can find in a book or manual, it is of pure experience. Throughout the organization at Xerox, there is a gap between the older and younger generation which is preventing knowledge sharing between the two. This gap between the generations is due to flawed perceptions; meaning both generations perceive the other completely opposite of who they actually are based on stereotypes and other beliefs. C.O. P. & Generation Gap In order to overcome this gap, communities of practice should be encouraged throughout the workplace; this will increase knowledge sharing between generations, especially if a community is set up specifically for that organization and its employees. Different forms of communities might include “face to face meetings, online bulletin boards, blogs or even wiki’s” (Colquitt, J., Lepine, J., & Wesson, M., 2011, p. 258). These communities not only pass information between employees, but also provide a “clear roadway to career growth by mapping out expectations” (Colquitt, J., Lepine, J., & Wesson, M., 2011, p. 258). While employees use these different forums, they will be able to gain insight on whatever topic they are...

...closely by the capacity of delivering that knowledge in an easy-to-comprehend manner, adapted to the level of the student or group. I consider these to be the basic requirements that should be a must for the teacher – the rest of the requirements (/qualities) are a consequence of the way of being as person, or the schooling environment, as well as the culture of the students, willingness to study, capacity of staying focused, life experience, age, aso. Task 2 – State what you consider to be the five most important roles of a teacher. Describe each role and say why you think it is important. 1. Tutor; 2. Resource or facilitator; 3. Prompter; 4. Assessor; 5. Manager (and also controller on the same rank of importance). 1. Tutor: in my opinion, the tutor characteristic of a teacher is outstanding in front of the others roles. Why? Because it requires delivering the information while having a more personal approach than speaking to a group, or speaking on a general topic. Unlike the manager role, the student gets a different learning experience if approached in an individual and (a more) personal way. 2. Facilitator: this role implies maintaining a relatively close approach to the students, and in case...

...them in becoming healthier individual. Last week on our online class we talked about being culturally competent in order to provide care to the community. We have so much diversity in the city of Hartford that it is hard to provide only one standard of care, nurses need to be flexible and on their toes when providing care to the community. Collaborating with other services providers with in the area is also very important for an example this week we are performing HIV/Aids/ Hepatitis teaching. We have hopes that we can open the topic of conversation with the guys about how important it is to have themselves tested and how they can protect themselves from getting the disease. Aids CT will be coming to our shelters two times a month to test any of the residents that would like to get tested until they have reach the shelter saturation level. This is very important for the guys due to Hartford being the number one city in the state, with the highest number of 1,495.5 people in 2014 living with HIV. The poverty level is a major concern for the city since its rate was about 34.4% in the year 2014. (DPH, 2016) Providing free services to this vulnerable population is very important to keep new people from being infected. Working with my group is very rewarding I remember the beginning of the semester having high anxiety from not knowing which class mate I was going to be working with. ...very intrigued at some of the learning characteristics, styles, and theories in Adult Learning. Adult Learners are more self-guided in their learning. Adult Learners bring more to a learning situation because of their wide range of experiences. Adult Learners requires learning to make sense. Adults have years of experience along with a good bit of knowledge. Adults have established values, beliefs, and opinions. Young learners don’t usually have the necessary experiential component to enrich a self-directed learning environment. For most youths, learning may be their primary and/or only life experiencing activity. As an Adult Learner; I feel as though I relate more toward Reflective Thinking style and Kinesthetic Learning style. Reflective Thinkers view new information subjectively, relate new information to past experiences, and examine their feelings about what they are learning. Kinesthetic Learners process new information best when it can be touched or hands-on process. This brings me to assumption #2 of the “Way Adults Learn”. I think this theory relates to me most of all. This theory impacts my learning the most. Life experiences have imperative roles in how I process and relate new information. As a Liberty University Online Student, I discover that it’s necessary to interact with others, listen openly, and reflect on different perspectives. I feel like this will allow me to gain guidance from instructors and mentors, to consider and welcome positive constructs;...

Experiences as a Writer

...My Experiences as a Writer Thus, I wrote about my life, the summer vacations or silly, imaginary things. I felt intimidated by the prospect of having to fill a page as much as by the endlessness of those first minutes I needed to find a start over than, “Once upon a time.” I like to write. My first experience as a writer started in elementary, around age 12 when I wrote a story. Every now and then, during English class, we were told to write. As I recall, the assignment mostly was to “write about anything” which was very exciting. My Aunt Carol helped me plans ideas for my story. Then, we sat to write down what we had processed. My story was coming together very well. My story was a great, it was about a haunted house out in the country. This is where my writing took off. When I received my paper back from the teacher, she gave me an A on my story. Everyone in my family was so happy for me. My experience as a writer has been extensive. Currently, one writes extensively for school purposes, personal, and as a hobby. For example, I write for my online English and Math classes, whether its discussion threads, questions or essays. One of my experiences that has been bothering me inside since I was a child, it was the sex abuse I encountered as a child. Like many of us, if sex abuse has not happened to you, sex abuse is an ugly thing for a child to go through. Kids at school found out, and started making fun of me. That to me was the...
