However, Online Learning requires students need to have many essential skills for effective learning. Besides Internet using skills, reading skills, presentation skills, online-learning students should have three more important: Organizational - Time management and Effective Communication Skills.
Organizational skills play an important role to the success of every people no matter who we are. We need to sort the order of priority which is the most important, who will coordinate with, or who help us to do it best. This not only gives us time, but also gives us confidence in every works. So, this is very essential for online-earning students as some have to work, some run business at home, or some are busy with housework, caring for children… To arrange right time, right people for right jobs help students more actively in learning.
As a certain correlation, time management skills required online-learning students to build schedules of a day, a week or of a month in a scientific way. By that, we could prioritize emergency works, or tests imminent deadline. However, time management skills also requires us to determine the maximum of time we win for solving a problem, helps us to control the time remaining funds for other things. This is extremely important for anyone, not only for online-learning students. The universal truth is "Time never stops".
Once we have the means, the tools and the time, the most important factor for effective online learning is communication skills. Talking to Student Service

...Concept Paper? (a 1-page outline) by Jim Spickard All research projects need a concept paper: a short summary that tells the reader what the project is, why it is important, and how it will be carried out. Even if no one else ever reads it, the concept paper helps a researcher spot holes in her or his project that might later prove fatal. It is far better to be clear at the beginning than to put in a lot of effort for naught! Typically, a concept paper contains these elements: 1. A clear description of the research topic, including a summary of what is already known about that topic. 2. A one-sentence statement of the research question that the project will seek to answer. (This is almost always something that is not known.) The concept paper should connect this question to the existing literature -- something that almost always takes more than one sentence to accomplish. 3. A demonstration of why it is important to answer this research question. What good comes of this answer? Why is this project worth anybody's time? 4. A description of how the researcher plans to answer the research question. This includes: a. a description of the data that the researcher plans to gather or use; b. a description of how the researcher will analyze these data; c. a demonstration of how these data and this analytic method will answer the research question; and d. a summary of any ethical issues that may arise in the research process. 5. A statement of the limitations of this research, specifically...

...The Surprising Foil to Online Education: Why Students Won’t Give Up Paper Textbooks Joanne McNeish, Mary Foster, Anthony Francescucci, Bettina West Purpose of the Study. Digital resources are an integral part of online education. Although advocates of digitized information believe that millennial students will embrace the paperless classroom, this is not proving to be the case. This research addresses gaps in our understanding of student resistance to giving up paper-based learning resources by examining attributes of the paper textbook that are perceived as necessary for knowledge transfer and that are not present in digital information modalities. Method/Design and Sample. Phase 1 used focus groups to identify the content of items that were incorporated into a quantitative instrument in phase 2. A sample of 386 undergraduate students taking marketing courses at a Canadian urban university completed the online survey. We then used Confirmatory Factor Analysis to test the factors linked to resistance to discontinuing paper textbooks. Results. Students’ resistance to giving up the paper textbook positively relates to the way in which the paper textbook facilitate learning and study processes, is permanent and under the students’ control during and after the course is finished. The fluid and dynamic nature of digital content compared to the more consistent and predictable nature of information on paper appears to be a barrier to the acquisition of knowledge for the purpose of...

Demand Estimation

...Demand Estimation Tora Heyward ECO 550 – Managerial Economics and Globalization 07/21/2014 Your supervisor has asked you to compute the elasticity for each independent variable. Assume the following values for the independent variables: Introduction In this paper I will compute the elasticity for each independent that was given to me. I will determine the implications for each of the computed elasticity. Elasticity, as it is used in economics, refers to the response of a "dependent" variable to changes in the "independent" variable (n.a., 2014). I will recommend whether the firm should or should not cut its price to increase market share. I will then plot the demand curve and the supply curve. I will determine the equilibrium price and quantity. I will also outline the significant factors that could cause a change in the supply and demand. I will then indicate the crucial factors that cause the rightward shifts and leftward shifts in demand. The maker of a leading brand of low-calorie microwavable food estimates the following demand equation for its product using data from 26 supermarkets around the country for the month of April. Assume the following values for the independent variables: Q = Quantity sold per month P (in cents)    =    Price of the product = 500 PX (in cents)    =    Price of leading competitor’s product = 600 I (in dollars)    =    Per capita income of the standard metropolitan statistical area (SMSA) in which the supermarkets are located =...

Learning to Be a Bot: Reinforcement Learning in Shooter Games

...Electrical Engineering University of Queensland St Lucia, Australia {michelle,marcusg}@itee.uq.edu.au Abstract This paper demonstrates the applicability of reinforcement learning for first person shooter bot artificial intelligence. Reinforcement learning is a machine learning technique where an agent learns a problem through interaction with the environment. The Sarsa( ) algorithm will be applied to a first person shooter bot controller to learn the tasks of (1) navigation and item collection, and (2) combat. The results will show the validity and diversity of reinforcement learning in a first person shooter environment. Introduction Over the past decade substantial research has been performed on reinforcement learning (RL) for the robotics and multi-agent systems (MAS) fields. In addition, many researchers have successfully used RL to teach a computer how to play classic strategy games such as backgammon (Tesauro 1995) and go (Silver, Sutton, and Muller 2007). However, there has been little research in the application of RL to modern computer games. First person shooter (FPS) games have common features to the fields of robotics and MAS, such as agents equipped to sense and act in their environment, and complex continuous movement spaces. Therefore, investigating the affects of RL in an FPS environment is an applicable and interesting area to research. FPS bot artificial intelligence (AI) generally consists of pathfinding, picking up and using objects in the environment...

Importance Of Informal Settlements

...Housing policy (2003), Kenya Vision 2030 and Poverty Reduction strategic paper address and recognize the up gradation of informal settlements as a significant part of shelter development. Apart from this, Government of Kenya also introduced the Kenya Slum Upgrading Program (2004) and Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP) in 2011 to raise the quality of life and enhance the tenure security of the inhabitants residing in these informal settlements in the urban areas of Kenya. To achieve these objectives, the GoK secured funds from the World Bank, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and the French Development Agency (AFD) to finance the activities of KISIP. The anticipated KISIP project has four main components; (i) strengthening Institutions and Project Management, (ii) enhancing Tenure Security, (iii) investing in settlements restructuring and infrastructure; and (iv) planning for urban Growth. While it was relatively easy to achieve objectives (i) (iii), and (iv), it was difficult to realize objective iv as the government did not have any prior experience with tenure security enhancement procedures. A study was therefore undertaken in a representative site in the city of Nairobi to develop and test a methodology for the provision of security of tenure for the informal settlements in Kenya. 1.3 Objectives of the Research The main objectives of this research are to develop a Land Information Management System for informal settlements...

...MG420 DL Labor Relations Research Assignment (Your name) (Date of submission) Instructor’s Name   1. Define the term “collective bargaining” and list and describe four issues that are mandatory components of a collective bargaining agreement. Tips for success: • Have a clear Introduction, Body, and Conclusion for each question. • If I ask you to define something, please do not give me something from a dictionary. Be more creative than that. • Make sure you follow the MLA formatting style. You should be familiar with this by now. Note: I prefer, so I required, the use of parenthetical citations (I hate to have to scroll to see your references) • Make sure your source is credible. For example, do not give me anything you saw at Wikipedia.org – Wikipedia is a free-for-all site. Anyone can publish there, but these sources are not credible. • Make sure you discuss the relevance and/or applicability (to the question) of the source material you are using (and citing) in support of your offering. Paraphrasing or summarizing is always a nice touch. Here's an example from a previous student's paper: "The May 2010 issue of EPSU (http://www.something.something) discusses the plight of French firefighters who took action to try to get the government to declare their jobs as dangerous and to agree to special retirement agreements. But ethics are also extremely important in keeping employees and employers honest. Organizations have to provide the highest level of ethical codes when doing all of their activities. Ethics should also be considered when doing all business research. In this paper we will discuss the unethical business research activities of an organization. In this paper I will discuss the case and various key points in relation to the case. This case popped out at me because I myself have been placed in this situation. I feel that each person may find a different outcome based on their history and morals. Dr. Johnson and the pharmaceutical company had been doing work together for the past six years. During this time the pharmaceutical company had become the professor’s sole source of funding (Zall, Moyer, Dawson & Curtis, 2003). During his time with this company he has become much respected and sought after to do seminars and articles. He sees that within a few years he could be offered a full professor position at the university. While attending a social event the professor was involved in a conversation initiated by another scientist. While in the presence of this other scientist the professor learns that the pharmaceutical company has done secret trials that have revealed that the compound the professor...
