Case Study One- Trader Joe’s: Keeping a Cool Edge 1. Trader Joe’s started out as a chain of convenience stores which grew to bigger stores striving to be a unique grocery store. They are different with the way their staff dresses and treats the customers, the wide variety of organic and healthy foods and at the same time, they are trying to maximize everyone’s experience as well as expanding their name. Bu that is all done with the help of six “must have” managerial skills which includes: teamwork, self- management, leadership, critical thinking, professionalism and communication. Out of all six “must have” managerial skills, having strong communication is the most important quality to possess in order to have a successful management especially at Trader Joe’s. Communication is the ability to express self well in verbal and nonverbal ways, and able to communicate through writing, oral presentations, giving and receiving helpful feedback to progress and to have technology utilization. In order to do all of that the management must have a strong communication skill. In all types of management tasks the first and most common thing the management does is communicating their needs, expectations and opinions to their team. The management should be able to send correct messages to other and ensure that they understand the message as well. If a store management has very poor or even no communication skills, a store like Trader Joe’s is at risk of failing to peruse their mission to be the best that they can. 2. Biggest risks that international ownership and global events pose for trader joes performance effectiveness and efficiency? 3. In casual and nontraditional work environment like trader joes what are the keys to a team leader or supervisor becoming an effective manager?
