EILEEN FISHER: Repositioning the Brand
Hilary Old, vice president for communications, was one part excited and one part nervous, so she took a moment to adjust her scarf before she entered the meeting. It was ]anuary of 201,0 and she and her colleagues were about to review the first retail sales results following a major strategic initiative to reposition and evolve the EILEEN FISHER brand.
2009 marked the 25tri anniversary of EILEEN FISHER and the occasion gave the company the impetus to pause and assess its history. The company had enjoyed phenomenal success in its first quarter century: its growth in revenues and profits had been driven by both the skong brand loyalty of its core customers, and the opening of fifty retail stores dedicated to the brand. The company was consistently recognized as oue of the best companies to work for and had an impressive environmental sustainability and social

responsibility- record. However, a startling discovery had emerged. The median customer age was currently at 59 and increasing each year, keeping pace with the age of the company's visionary founder, Eileen Fisher. Despite the company's best efforts to design age-less clothing to appeal to multiple generations, as Fisher herself aged, so too had the customer base. The company found itself stereotyped as a brand for older, and, to some extent, customers with larger body types. Old worried that tl're brand coulcl eventually become extinct if actions weren't taken to atLract a new generation to the brand.
The company embarkeci on a strategic project to clevelop a new brancl expression that would set the foundation for the future direction of the company. The project resulted in a brancl repositioning. Ectgier brancl communications

Background before Religious Center: Originally I had planned on visiting a different Buddhist temple in Irvine to view their Sunday service. But when I arrived, it was in an office building with no obvious religious symbols. I had also researched Pao Fa Temple, and knew they were holding the Water Repentance Service for most of the day, so decided to pursue that option. I used my map feature to get directions and very easily found the temple. It was a in a gated lot, and the temple was visible from a distance. B. Draw a Social Map: The Temple was on Beckman Avenue in Irvine. The major cross streets are Jamboree and Alton Pkwy. The gated parking lot entrance is on Noyes St. and the front entrance to the Temple faces Beckman Ave. and the West. The entrance to the Temple is very ornate with columns and sculptures at the corners and entrance. one standing and one sitting. The first thing you see when you walk into the entrance hall is a shrine to Namo Shakyamuni Buddha with flowers in front of it. To the right of this shrine is a door leading to a reception room. Chinese Dreams

...The conflict between the two forces is generally reflected in marriage controversies and the love affairs among Lin Tai-yu, Chia Pao-yu and Hsueh Pao-chai. Due to the enormous differences in power between the two conflicting parties, the feudal forces achieve the upper hand, whereas the progressive forces succumb in failure. Consequently, the love between Tai-yu and Pao-yu is fated to end in disaster. Marriage is personal and should be left only for the couple to decide without any social or relation ties. The fundamental storyline of the novel focuses mostly on the Chia family and their high social class. The author also talks of a concubine in the Qing dynasty and this brings awareness to the readers about existence of polygamy in the Qing dynasty. This practice was and still is restricted to some areas of the world. Koss Case

...Q.1 In a circumstance similar to Koss Corporation, where the Principal Accounting Officier (PAO) is not also the CFO, we believe that the PAO should attest to the effectiveness of internal control. As we know, the main job of a PAO is to overseeing the company's accounting operations, which means regulatory compliance with accounting standards and developing financial strategies for the company with the CFO. In this way, the PAO has extensive knowledge of the accounting processes and control structures within the company. So it seems pertinent that the PAO makes an attestation on internal control effectiveness However, the Koss case is a bad example as the one perpetrating the fraud is the PAO. So the attestation from the PAO would be unhelpful in this case. To conclude, we believe that the position of PAO is a key matter on assessing internal control effectiveness. Q.2 When one individual holds multiple C-level and Board of Director titles over an organization it becomes a huge inherent risk to the auditor. "If we take the example of Koss, the company didn't properly segregate duties or assign someone outside to provide an independent check and balance on employees’ integrity and to maintain a sufficiently strong control system. " This is one of the reasons that led to fraud and embezzlement in the Koss Corp. So we can say that if one person is the CEO, CFO, and COO, the "power" is grouped on a single person. In fact, c-level represents the highest-level...

...branches of the United States Department of Defense whose purpose is to deal with the media and community issues. The term is also used for numerous media relations offices that are created by the U.S. military for more specific limited purposes. PA offices are staffed by a combination of officers, enlisted personnel, civilian officials and contract professionals. Public Affairs offices play a key role in contingency and deployed operations (SECNAVINST, 2012). The typical PA office is led by an officer who is in charge of planning, budgeting for, executing and evaluating the effectiveness of public affairs programs, and provides public affairs advice, counsel and support for commanders and senior staff members. The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) is responsible for developing a working relationship with reporters and other media representatives, maintaining a robust community relations program, keeping contact with other government agencies, and keeping internal and external publics informed on issues that may...

Hmong Culture Essay

...We chose this topic because we've always been interested in the Secret Army, General Vang Pao, Hmong culture, and its history. When we talk about the Vietnam war in school they do not mention anything about General Vang Pao or the Secret Army. This inspired us to pick this topic and teach everybody about Hmong history. In school, it is very mysterious that very few people know about the Secret Army and General Vang Pao helping the Hmong people cross into Thailand. Also, Vang Pao helped the Americans fight against the Vietnamese by teaching them Morse code to communicate and taught them guerrilla warfare. Vang Pao is a person who every Hmong person looks up too; every Hmong person thinks of him as their role model. This is why we chose this topic, because he took a stand by helping Hmong people cross the Mekong river into Thailand....

Koss Case

...MACC 654 Koss Case Hanyu Liu 1.I believe the Principal Accounting Officer (PAO) should attest to the effectiveness of internal control when that position is not also the CFO.   The PAO has extensive knowledge of the accounting processes and control structures within the company so an attestation on internal control effectiveness would be pertinent.   In the Koss case, the PAO is the one perpetrating the fraud so the attestation from the PAO would be unhelpful.   However, I do believe the opinion of this position does matter on assessing internal control effectiveness.   2.When one individual holds that much control over an organization it becomes a huge inherent risk to the auditor.   If one person is the CEO, CFO, and COO, there are not that many others who would question decisions or scrutinize certain actions of someone with that much power.   There is clear ability for management override and therefore inherent risk should be set high for the auditor.   Risk is mitigated with accountability, and in a case like this one there seems to be a huge lack of accountability among upper level executives.   3.I think there should be minimum education requirements for CFOs of publicly traded companies.   Not many people become CFOs without some advanced degree.   Most of the time the exception to that would be people without business degrees who inherit the position, like Michael Koss. For these people there should be an educational requirement.   The reason is because investors...

Chinese Tea

...Tieguanyin Tea simplified Chinese: 铁观音 (tiěguānyīn) traditional Chinese: 鐵觀音 Jyutping: tit3 gwun1 yam1 Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Thih-koan-im; literally "Iron Guanyin or Iron Avalokiteśvara" or 'Tikuanyin' / 'Tit Koon Yum' Tieguanyin, Guanyin, Guanshiyin, are the names of the Chinese Goddess for over 20 centuries. Since then, Japan name Guanyin as Kannon, in Korea as Guam-eum. For about 200 years to 300 years, Chinese Buddhism Guanyin also influenced the south Asia nations and the south Asia people re-named Guanyin to bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, Mahāyāna Buddhism. The name of the Chinese tea is translated in English as "Iron Guanyin", and sometimes as "Iron Goddess of Mercy." These two names are accurate. The deity has long been given a female identity in Chinese folk culture, although the original Chinese name carries no suggestion of the male-or-female-nature. A more accurate translation of the reference to the deity should be (the One) Observing the Voice of the People.Other spellings and names include "Ti Kuan Yin," "Tit Kwun Yum," "Ti Kwan Yin," "Iron Buddha," "Iron Goddess Oolong," and "Tea of the Iron Bodhisattva." It is also known in the abbreviated form as "TGY." Tieguanyin is a premium variety of Chinese oolong tea originated in the 19th century in Anxi in Fujian province. Tieguanyin produced in different areas of Anxi have different gastronomic characteristics. Production has since extended to many regions even outside of China, including Mucha in Nantou, Taiwan.
