...of ridiculous parking fees? Need to stretch you’re budget further? Can’t find an ideal parking spot? Read on. There’s a little known loophole in Ottawa Municipal Bylaws. Here is what the legislation says: (from website) (insert translation: In Ontario, drivers can renew their license either annually or bi-annually, but first must settle any outstanding tickets. Since the city caps the delinquent fine at $400, a driver can theoretically rack up unlimited tickets for no extra cost. Let me explain the loophole. Although it’s true that the city can issue an infinite number of parking tickets, the city defers collection of overdue and outstanding tickets to Service Ontario. As shown above, Service Ontario implements a per delinquent cap set at $400 every two years. Theoretically, a driver can accumulate an unlimited number of parking tickets and only pay the maximum fine. Unlimited tickets for $400 every two years? More like $400 for a two year parking pass. Seriously, you can park in any eligible parking space any time you want for $400 every two years. I call this the Ultimate V.I.P Parking Plan tm. This program obviously excludes: handicap and emergency services parking, plus no-parking and toe-away zones. However, the rest of the city might as well be your own fucking driveway. Let’s look at how much money you’ll save. Below are the accumulated parking fees over two years for the largest parking companies compared to the Ultimate V.I.P Parking Plan tm: (insert...

...Innovation ——Underground Auto-parking Building Every day, there are many students who go to UMAC by riding their motorbikes. They may face a very big problem that there is lack of space for them to park their motorbikes. Since they always arrive to UMAC and it is almost time when classes are going to start, they might have to park their motorbikes in some places that are illegal for parking, or they just park their motorbikes behind the other motorbikes in a hurry that will block them when the others want to leave, that is the reason why you always see people have to move the other‘s motorbikes before they ride their own motorbikes to leave, and it is quite a hard task for some girls to move the others' heavy motorbikes. In order to prevent the situation that the messy parking habits bother the others and lead to penalties for parking illegally, we suggest building a new underground motorbikes park which is with high-technology in order to solve the problem and also make the most use of space. It will help our students to park their motorbikes in a suitable space automatically. The new motorbike park is time-saving, space-saving and convenient to the students. Having this new motorbike park, students can feel relieved as they do not need to worry about finding available parking places, do not need to remember the places they have once parked their motorbikes and their motorbikes can be stored safely. You may think the new motorbike park is just the same traditional one...

...Citation Contest (Initial Review) Citation #908902164 I recently received a parking citation in the mail for parking in a red zone on 03-10-14, at 09:17 P.M. that I would like to contest. I was brought aware of the parking citation through the mail only per 40202 (D) VC. The parking attendant never put the parking citation on the Vehicle and never made contact with me at all advising me of a parking violation so I never knew about the issuing of the citation until I received a notice in the mail. On 03-10-14 I was working as driver for the company Uber in the city of Santa Monica. Uber is a ridesharing company that allows people to request for a ride somewhere like a taxi. The drivers use their personal vehicles to pick up and transport the clients wherever they need to go. That evening I was using my personal vehicle (6AND311 Nissan Altima) in the performance of my duty for the Uber company. On 03-10-14, at 9:14:39 P.M., I received a ride request from a client. I was a couple blocks away from the location of pick up (near 500 Santa Monica Bl). It is my common practice when I receive a ride request to pull to the side of the road and map out the route to get to the pick up location, which I did. Uber gives you a phone with a map gps system that gives you an icon of where the client is. You are supposed to drive to that exact location because that is where the client is supposed to be. So after I mapped out the route to the gps icon I drove to the location. I was...

...Discuss the United States v. Greber and United States v. McClatchey case questions 1. How, if at all, can you distinguish Greber from other instances of payment for professional services? Suppose the percentage Dr. Greber paid to the physicians had not exceeded Medicare’s guideline? Would that payment still amount to prohibited remuneration in this court’s eyes? Yes. I think Dr. Gerber is still responsible. Although the payments made had legitimate purposes, they could still be viewed as intent to induce referrals. And as long as one purpose among all was intended to induce referrals then a statute becomes violated. Secondly, the law views remuneration as anything that has monetary value. Therefore, I would agree the court would view that payment as a prohibited remuneration. 2. Suppose you were a lawyer or a compliance officer advising a hospital cardiology department. The department has a contract under the terms of which it will pay a certain cardiology group a fixed dollar amount for every electrocardiogram (ECG) interprets, and the hospital will bill Medicare accordingly. The dollar amount is equal to Medicare’s allowable charge for ECG’s (less $10 at this writing), and all readings are medically necessary. You ask why the hospital does not just let the doctors bill Medicare themselves, and the reply is, “ Oh, it’s such a hassle for them. We already have a billing department, and we can do it for them easily.” What is your response, and why? I would respond in this...

...Kyle Cady 20 April 2015 ENG 122-001 Professor Taylor Us Against The Cameras. Have you ever received a ticket for running a red light? If not, maybe you know someone who has, or you’ve witnessed that flash of light going off while sitting at an intersection. Either way you’re not alone, hundreds of U.S. citizens fall victim to red light camera tickets daily. Imagine you’re driving home from a hard day of work, and you have been driving the same exact route for the last seven years without receiving a red light camera citation. One day to your surprise you open the mail and find not one, but four separate tickets for rolling through a right turn on red. You begin to get a sick feeling in your stomach when you realize that each ticket is going to cost you 100 dollars. Sounds horrible, right? This is a true story that happened to a women named Oumou Wague, from Chicago. “I was stunned,” the 42 year old hair salon owner said in an interview. “I knew right away there was something wrong. I knew that camera was broken, but you can’t fight City Hall- and that is a fact.”(Kidwell and Richards). Like many other stories out there, Wague was caught by a faulty camera system. After averaging just three tickets a day, the camera that caught her was suddenly averaging 33 tickets per day, then out of nowhere the ticket spree ended (Kidwell and Richards). Many question whether or not these red light camera systems were malfunctioning or being tinkered with by local authorities. Instead of...
